I did it. I finally fucking did it. I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel this past weekend. These past three days were a fuckin' nightmare. And not for the reasons Buffy or any of you probably think.

I'm well aware many of you have already seen this show or read the comic books. Or, hell, even both. Just do me a favor? Don't mention either of these things to Mini-Me. She doesn't know yet, and I...I just want to be able to have the option to tell her myself. And please, while we're on the topic, don't talk to her about monsters. Like vampires or demons. Whoever mentioned those to her, seriously...stop. She texted me a bit ago wanting to know if there were any back home or if it was just this place. I lied. Obviously.

Also, any of you making any fucking comments to my face about this show, I will punch you. It's no use defending myself here. But at least I am givin' you a fair warnin'.

Uhura
How is she doin' anyway? You think I could maybe, I dunno, spend some time with her? Like, visitation hours or somethin'?

B
How goes the apartment hunt? Any you wanna look at?

Shaggy
Hey. Whatchya been up to?

I think that could be a good idea. Maybe we could do something with all three of us, that way she can get used to you in a comfortable setting with someone she's relaxed around.

Works for me. Just name the time and place. I mainly close so I can tend to work around you two.

Do you have any ideas of a place that a younger version of yourself would feel most at ease?

I'll talk to her about it, once the question of where is established, then we can decide when.

Honestly? She hasn't seen much yet. We could go for ice cream? Or take her to her to a movie. Or to the pet store to look at the puppies. Always wanted one, but never got one. Or if you're real ambitious, take her to where I work and let her pick out whatever she wants. But be brave on that last one. Girl hasn't seen comics yet, but I know when she does she's gonna go bananas.

Alright.

Ice cream sounds like the best option for now. A movie isn't going to allow much of a chance for talking or interaction and a dog, while not necessarily bad, would require a good deal of responsibility. I think she would be better off settling in more before a desire for a dog came up.

Ice cream is always good. I didn't mean let's go buy her a dog. I just meant for her to look at them. But I guess maybe I could consider one later once she lives with B and I.

Thanks, you know, for doing this. She isn't too much for ya, is she?

No point in getting her interest peaked until it's an option worth considering.

It's not a problem. She's really not too much. She's something good to focus on.

True.

Glad to hear that. Lucky she's 12 and not a year older.

How are you holdin' up, anyway, now that Spock is gone?

It's always less than ideal to be without a colleague in a situation like this, but I'm doing fine.

Always fun times.

Not as exciting as you. Working for the man. The very nerdy man. And attemptin' to work toward custody of Mini-Me.

Think you can take time out of your busy life to hang witg your favorite misfit?

For you, Duchess? Anything. What ya got planned?

Well, usually jobs mean workin' for the man. Mine is at a comic shop. Hence, the nerdy man. Why would your respect slip?

Dunno. How about we pay a visit to your friend Darcy? And maybe break some things in the Damage Den along the way. Destruction is always nice.

Could be a fun time. I like destroying things. When?

No idea. But I do know that when I was 12, I was told a lie that just kept being told for years... and I just recently found out about it. Don't do that to her. She is you, which means she's stronger than you think.

She's innocent me. I'm not sure just how strong she is yet. I don't want to keep this from her forever. But, I want her to like me. If I tell her now, she's going to hate me. Not just for the lie about the monsters; but because I am a monster.

You definitely shouldn't tell her about you until you're ready, because she may never be ready to hear what you have to say... But you can tell her part of the truth without telling her all of it.

But, in the end, Faith... you know her best. You know how much she can handle.

Only the truth about the part she asks you about. She asked about monsters; maybe you could tell her the truth. She knows they're real in my world, and she knows there are dragons here. Maybe knowing that they're real in your world won't break her as badly as you think.

She does, Faith. She's not going to experience any of the stuff that you did by being here, but you also can't stop her from being sent home if it comes to that either as we all well know. You don't have to tell her about your past or what you've done, but maybe by telling her little bits of truth, if and when it comes out, it won't sting as bad.

Yes, your thoughts and feelings matter. And the point is not to change the future of your life back in your universe, you can't do that. The point is learning to accept what is inevitable.

At least there is that.
