Today has been one lazy and fun day! Staying inside with Alex and watching cartoons and ordering food. I have to say that it's turning into a good day and tonight ill be cooking a really great dinner. I'm thinking grilled chicken, asparagus, baked potatoes and for dessert apple pie with ice cream. If anyone wants to join in you are welcome to.

How do you grill chicken without a grill? Or do you have a little portable grill or something?

Yeah, I just got one not too long ago actually. I just bring it down into the kitchen whenever I'm using it.

I didn't think you could use charcoal indoors?

Its one of those electric grills. You just plug it in and wait for it to heat up and then it grills the perfect meat.

Why would you cook your own food when the castle has a full staff for that?

Because I enjoy cooking and it relaxes me.

Yeah I usually do on Saturdays cause I liked to make sure my dad ate. Saturdays were some of his busiest times so I would cook a good meal. I would then usually go out or a bunch of friends would come over and we would watch movies and have an old fashioned slumber party.

Well, it's better than you cooking and him never quite making it home for the dinner that you spent so much time on. I've done that more times than I care to admit.

Believe it or not it has happened to me once or twice. It's just been a tradition that I've trying to keep. So I take it you are one of those busy people who want to try and be to dinner on time but things come up?

I believe it even if it does suck.

Let's just say... that trouble tends to follow me and make me perpetually late for dinner all the time. It was always worse when it was a special occasion, though.

It does but I understood. Being a lawyer you are basically on the clock 24/7 in case something happens.

Ohhhh well, I do know that all too well. My dad came and went but he was still interested in my day and school which was really nice. Just like when I got arrested and got a DUI, he went as far as getting me to visit an inmate that was in jail because he was drinking and driving and hit another car killing them. But anyway, I'm sure that your wife or girlfriend understood?

Same with being a cop. The city never sleeps, and sometimes it feels like we don't either.

Sounds like a good father.

Uh... not wife. Girlfriend. Ex-girlfriend, I guess.

That is true. Which is why I never get upset about it I know that having a career like yours or my dads is hard work.

He is, as much as it annoyed me I will say that he was an amazing father.

Oh, I'm sorry about that. Do you say she's your ex because you got sent here? Because you know there is a chance that she could come here.

It's good that you're so understanding.

Well... she doesn't remember me. There was this accident... More like poisoning, and she went into a coma. When she woke up, she had no idea who I was. Things just couldn't go back to the way they were, and I tried to be patient, but... I guess with being here and after everything that happened, it just seems silly to hold out any sort of hope.

Sorry. You probably didn't want to know all that.

I'm always understanding. I'm going to be a lawyer and will have to be the same way.

I'm so sorry to hear about all of that. That is really awful, especially the not remembering you part. I don't know what I would do if I had to go through something like that.

Its alright, I'm not getting my hopes up that my Ex Fiance is ever going to show up here. See I wasn't sent here from my home, I spent some time in this other place called Ridgeway Resort, met this great man named George who came out of the army from WWII. I was engaged to him and he's Alexander's father, he got sent back to his home though when I was just a few months pregnant. I wonder everyday about what I'm going to say when Alex asks about his father.

But I wouldn't give up hope, maybe she'll get sent here someday.

And that's when you'll learn to love takeout, I'm sure.

Well, I hope you never have to.

Wow. That's... quite a lot. I guess... you tell him exactly what you just told me. With him being raised here, he's going to understand, especially with people popping in and out of existence all the time.

And if she does, she could end up here without her memories of me, and I'll have held out hope for nothing. No. I'm... I'm done holding out for something that may never happen.

I'll try not to eat soooo much takeout.

Yeah that place wasn't SO bad but it was small we had to work and tend to guests of the resort I had the worst job ever there. Which I'm kind of glad that I was brought here because now I'm able to do what I love. And you're right. I wish I had pictures but I'm sure I can find something. Thank god ill have a couple of years before he will probably ask.

That is true. I'm sorry about your situation with that.

Say what are you doing now?

Don't worry so much. I know from experience that as long as you love him and give him everything you can, he'll want for nothing, even without one of his parents around.

It's fine. I was already getting to this point back home... This just kind propelled that.

Right now? Paperwork. I'm on a 2 week probation of desk duty until I actually get to go out and detect something. I get off soon, though. Why?

I know, I'm a worried mother. I have been doing it on my own for some time now. Your right, I'm giving him a life that he deserves and I'm working on making sure that he is raised right.

Yeah these places do that to you. It's like you come here from a place back home where things are really rough. It does get better though.

I know you'll probably end up having your normal take out. But, how about a cooked meal. I can make you a plate and bring it by your room later if you'd like. I always cook way too much food anyway.

I'm packing up now. Why don't I just meet you in the kitchen? I'll never say no to a home cooked meal. Unless it's beat-juice pancakes. That's a little too weird for me.
