Who: Siri Tachi and Mara Jade-Skywalker
What: Jedi walking in the gardens
When: Some time after this
Where: the gardens
Rating/Warnings: Low.
Status: incomplete/in-progress

Siri was in the gardens long before the agreed upon meeting time, dressed in jeans and a tunic, her lightsaber hanging from her belt. She had taken to leaving her lightsaber in her room most of the time, but it seemed appropriate to wear it for this meeting. She’d spent some time in the gardens as well, during her more sleepless nights. It wasn’t the lake, but it was still peaceful enough.

It was going to be interesting, getting to know Mara. Learning more about the Order, as Mara knew it. She was curious as to what other skills had been discovered in the time after her death. What all had happened; beyond what she already knew.

There was a lot Mara had yet to truly explore in this place. She was more interested in learning the layout of the city than she was the layout of the castle grounds. After spending the year and a half in Lawrence, Kansas and experiencing battle after battle in a build up to the supposed end of the world, Mara knew she couldn't take enough precautions. Learning the city's layout wasn't easy, it was quite a bit larger than Lawrence, but she wanted to be prepared in the event pandemonium broke out in the Land of Make Believe. Mara was a fighter, and war wasn't something that was new to her. What was new to her was this world that seemed to actually be peaceful. And she wasn't certain she actually liked that because being at rest was something unsuitable to her character. Mara always had to be doing something. She was miserable when there was nothing to do. So she was hoping that the presence of the other Jedi would help in that when they did group training.

Heading to the gardens, Mara was looking forward to this encounter. Siri intrigued her, and she certainly hoped they could strike up some sort of relationship. Even with the differences in the Jedi Orders they both knew, she hoped things wouldn't be that difficult to work around. Some Jedi were more set in their ways than others when it came to rules and differences in the matter. Though at the same time, Mara couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt. After all, while she'd been Palpatine's assassin, she'd killed some Jedi that had escaped the Purge. But she kept that guilt to herself, not letting it enter her Force presence, not wanting Siri to feel that as she approached, easily spotting the other woman.

"Hello, Master Tachi," Mara greeted with a bow. Even though it was possibly unnecessary, Mara still felt the more formal greeting and acknowledgement of Siri's rank was warranted at least for this instance. She was dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, her lightsaber and shota clipped to her belt.

The differences in the Orders they knew wouldn’t bother Siri. Being good at undercover missions meant being adaptable. And she was. Death had... changed some things for her, too. There was more to it than just that; she couldn’t even put it into words to describe it, but the changes... they weren’t bad ones. She just... knew it. She’d come to trust in that sense of conviction during her time spent so long undercover with Krayn, so far from the Temple and the Order. And Obi-Wan.

She greeted Mara with a bow, and a crooked smile. “Master Skywalker.”

"It is a pleasure to meet you. Shall we?" Mara motioned for Siri to lead the way given the other Jedi had walked the gardens before. Like Siri, Mara knew how death could be. It was a traumatic experience to have died, then found herself suddenly alive again. Though at least her murderer wasn't here. She could at least let herself relax and not have to feel his presence in the Force any longer.

"How long have you been here?" Might as well start with some basic conversation starters. They could build a conversation from there. As it stood, Mara was certainly going to enjoy this. She liked meeting new people. Especially when said people were other Jedi that were free of the drama that was the Skywalker-Solo family. It was refreshing in a way, she had become quite tired of dealing with the drama that came with her family. Which somehow always centered around Jacen in some way.

“Likewise,” Siri said with a smile and a nod, before leading the way deeper into the gardens. She was fortunate that she’d not had to deal with her killer sharing the same space. Dealing with the sudden return to life (and what the future in their world held) had been quite enough without adding Magus into things.

“Almost two of our months,” she told her. “I appeared here shortly after Obi-Wan.” She laughed quietly. “It’s been interesting. And strange.” But having familiar faces, having Obi-Wan there made all the strangeness more manageable. He’d made a lot of things more manageable.

It was certainly difficult to deal with returning to life after experiencing death. It had been harder for Mara after realizing Jacen was in the place she'd been in before this. It hadn't been a good feeling to her, and it had taken her a while to really get her anger and hate under control. Especially after he'd told her the things he'd done to Ben, her son and his own cousin. Mara hadn't forgiven him for the things he did, and luckily Jacen had been smart enough not to ask for forgiveness. Though over time, Mara had come to be able to coexist with Jacen.

"I have heard of some of the things that can happen here. What have you experienced?" Mara asked as she walked along. "I'm kind of used to strange happenings. The place I was in before arriving here had a tendency for strange things to occur at times." From what Mara had heard about it so far, some of the same things happened here that she'd experienced in Kansas. But, of course, there was a distinct lack of an Apocalypse hanging in the air here, as well as a lack of any real threat beyond the strange occurrences.

[OOC: I'm so sorry it took so long for this; Word ate my original tag.]

She was still dealing with it; while the nightmares had begun to ease in frequency and intensity, there were still moments she woke from the more intense ones wondering if she was alive or dead. But it was getting better. Slowly, but it was getting better.

“I’ve been lucky enough to be spared a lot of the stranger occurrences,” she said. “Anakin has mentioned things in passing a time or two, though. The only one I’ve experienced firsthand was an incident involving body swapping. It didn’t strike everyone, either. I was one of the ones left alone; which was useful, considering we had several people inhabiting Force sensitive bodies that hadn’t before.”

[OOC: Aww it's alright! Bad Word for eating your original tag.]

It certainly wasn't an easy process. Dying and then being brought back to life was immensely traumatizing. However, Mara had found having family and friends she cared about around her helped. As did meditation or training.

"Body swap? That sounds rather unsettling to say the least. I do hope those that founds themselves inhabiting the Force sensitive bodies did not cause any distress with the abilities they suddenly found themselves with?" Mara knew Force abilities could be dangerous in the hands of someone untrained in how to use them. But given the castle was still in tact, clearly no one had lost control of their emotions and caused something bad to happen.

Familiar faces did help; particularly Obi-Wan’s. Although she’d done her best to keep the details of her death from him. He’d live through it soon enough when he returned to their world. There was no need for him to know sooner. Patience exercises were never Siri’s strong point, but swimming had become something of a replacement for the more... traditional meditation. And the training with the other Jedi residing in the Land of Make Believe also helped.

“Fortunately they didn’t; I found myself with temporary Padawans for the duration of the switch. It helped that some of them were... dedicated to learning all they could.” She couldn’t help the crooked smile. She’d sworn to never take another Padawan after Ferus had left the Order, but Helena had made an impressive student.

Finding familiar things to hold onto certainly helped in dealing with the trauma. Mara had gotten herself a new student when she'd shown up on Earth. Galen Marek, Vader's former apprentice and recently had forsaken the Dark Side and wanted to embrace the Light Side. Mara taught him about the Light Side, always allowing him the choice of how much he wanted to learn. Watching the struggle of leaving the Dark Side behind was one Mara knew from first hand experience. It wasn't easy, but she had respected Galen immensely for his efforts. She did miss him.

"Being dedicated to learning certainly helps things. It would seem in the midst of that chaos, you were handed a best case scenario. There is certainly something to be said for that." Siri could have easily had a mess on her hands if those who suddenly found themselves with the Force had lost control or not sought how to control the basics of the Force.
