Who: Gwen and Darcy
What: Gwen arrives and doesn't know what's going on
When: Tonight
Where: Their rooms.
Warnings: Low, I'm assuming. Gwen doesn't even cuss that much, really.

Gwen Stacy's life had become rather quiet since she and Peter broke up. After finishing high school she was accepted at Empire State University. Her roommate and her were two completely different people; but despite the roommate's party-girl ways, she and Gwen had managed to reach common ground. This recent result made Gwen feel as if she was finally beginning to adjust to her freshman year.

However, when she woke up on a sofa in a living room that she had never seen before, the first thought Gwen had was, did I go out last night and pass out? But then she remembered she didn't go out the night before. Instead, she had stayed in cramming for an anatomy exam. Besides, Gwen wasn't usually one to drink that much. She could not hold her liquor really well.

Remembering the exam, but forgetting the strange room for a moment, Gwen jumped off the couch and went to the nearest room to get ready. The fear of missing an exam suddenly outweighed the concern for where she was at the present. However, when she opened the door there was already another girl inside, and it wasn't her roommate.

"Oh my god!" Gwen immediately turned around and closed the door. "I'm sorry!"

Gwen held her head in her hands for a moment, feeling like a complete idiot. "I seem to be in the wrong room. I'm really sorry. Could you possibly point me in the direction of Williams Hall? If not, I'll just get out of your way. I'm sorry."

Gwen began to debate whether or not she should just leave rather than wait for directions back to her dorm.

Not on Earth? Of all the places to wander off to, Gwen had to end up at the room of a girl who's into aliens and junk. Gwen, however, didn't want any trouble, and instead chose to brush aside that statement.

"Is the nearby university Empire State?" gwen asked, still out in the living room. She had invaded this person's space enough, she didn't feel right invading her room as well. "If so, just point me the way and I'll go. If not," she hated even considering this, "where am I?"

When the girl opened the door Gwen finally got a decent look at who she was dealing with. The girl seemed normal enough. But then she opened her mouth and mentioned swapping dimensions.

"Swapping what?"

At this point Gwen wanted nothing more than to get back to her hall. If she missed her exam for this she was going to be very stressed.

"No, it's not." Darcy could be sympathetic to the newb's situation. She too, once, had been a newb. Really, she had been there about a month; she wasn't employed yet and she wasn't exactly well-socialized, but that wasn't the point. The point was that she had more of an idea what was going on. "Okay, give me five minutes of your time and I'll explain where you are and what you can do about getting back home."

"Let's go over to this room over here, which is empty right now - we can get into the whys of that later, and look out the windows in the room," Darcy indicated toward the other door that lead to the formerly spare quarters that were now apparently the blond girl's. Luckily, they were in the East Wing, so there was a shot of the city's skyline off in the distance. "Tell me if that's the skyline of the city you're used to out there. Also, wait a few minutes and something native might pop up and confirm this."

A dragon, in other words. While they didn't tend to land too much around the castle, or at least as far as Darcy had seen, they did fly around and do the occasional aerobatic swoop next to the castle's walls. So long as they didn't try to eat her, she didn't care; they were just fun to watch. "Plus, look at the decor - this is a genuine castle. And - do you have a name? You look kind of familiar." Which was weird, but things tended to be weird anymore.

The girl seemed kind and honest. So when she asked for five minutes, Gwen nodded. Although she would have been lying if she didn't admit she was still skeptical since the mention of swapping dimensions.

Gwen followed the girl into the nearby empty room and went to look out the window. The city and land outside was nothing like she had ever seen before.

"That's definitely not New York," Gwen said. She shook her head and crossed her arms, concerned and completely uncomfortable. "I don't understand any of this, how can I be in New York one minute and somewhere like this anot-"

Gwen cut off her sentence at the sight of the dragon. She took a few steps back away from the window, a little afraid of it. "Is that..." she pointed at the dragon, not allowing herself to call it for what it is. As if naming the dragon out loud would make it any more real.

Dragons, and a genuine castle. Well, that would explain why the rooms they were in were so nice. Gwen couldn't believe any of this. "I must be dreaming," she said. Castles and dragons were the things of fairytales.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I seem to be forgetting my manners in every way today," she offered her hand, "I'm Gwen Stacy."

"It's called 'New Creandi' and the planet is 'Imagination,' though don't ask me who came up with that lame name. Probably whoever did the decor in here." Darcy shrugged at the question, then smirked openly at the spotting of the dragon and remark that she was dreaming. Darcy had just gone along with it but, then again, she had been in the midst of an Asgardian adventure with Jane, Dr. Selvig, and Thor. That kind of set up for the perfect transition into weirder. "I came here from New Mexico. People come from different times and places and - poof, eventually go back, but no one knows how to send anyone back. It's at random. You did arrive here at the right time, though. Tomorrow is unofficial-Thanksgiving."

Darcy took the extended hand with her own and shook, trying to be polite. "I'm Darcy Lewis. And I think kidnapping to new dimension and the shock allows for a pass for awhile on manners and, even if not, I'm not that uptight."

"Want me to pinch you? I wouldn't try jumping off the side of any buildings to see if you can fly in this 'dream.'" Darcy grinned and shrugged, a little amused at the form of denial. "While the dragon is real, this isn't a dream. For some reason, everyone dimension-napped winds up here where some mysterious person pays for food, utilities, staff to run things, and blah blah. It's actually pretty sweet in some ways."

Gwen made a face at the names. "Right. So we're in Imagination land. This is just getting better." Since things had calmed down after Peter and her split up, Gwen had grown accustomed to the generic eighteen-year-old lifestyle. Being taken to another land called New Creandi was definitely going to take some adjusting.

"Thanksgiving?" Gwen awkwardly laughed at that, "And no, that's fine. This seems a little to out there for you to just make up. It's nice to meet you Darcy."

Gwen looked out the window again and watched as the dragon did a backflip and then flew further into the sky, where Gwen couldn't see it anymore. At least the dragons seemed friendly. "They're not going to eat me if I step outside, right?" she half-joked.

She turned back to Darcy as the explanation of food and utilities were mentioned. "So this is like a twisted, all-expense paid ...vacation? I guess. For lack of a better word."

"They seem to not celebrate U.S.-specific-holidays or something like that. I dunno. Someone said that Christmas around here happens, so I'm looking forward to that. And trying to find a job because the vacation aspect is limited." Darcy pointed toward the side of the bed. "Your bed, your room, and your free cellphone and starter $100. They don't give us any more cash and no wardrobe provided, which sucks if you ask me."

"And speaking of Christmas, I'm hoping to avoid having to play an elf or a Mrs. Santa, but - Christmas without cash." Darcy made a face at that, then paused very briefly to contemplate the dragon thing.

"I don't know of anyone the dragons have eaten, but I wouldn't go stand outside with rare meat in my hand either? There are doors that go up to the roof, too, which is cool but - it's cool right now since it's almost December." Darcy rattled off with a shrug, moving to go back to the main living area. "But there's cable!"

"So not really all-expense paid." Gwen went over to the bed and picked up the phone, seeing it was fully charged. Apparently she must have been expected. "Has anyone figured out who is doing this?"

"I once played an elf, it wasn't pretty," Gwen made a face at the memory. The ugly green suit made of itchy fabric. "Guess it means finding a job unless I want to wear these clothes everyday. At least they didn't take me in my pajamas."

Gwen set aside the phone and sat on the bed. "How are you so calm about this? Have you been her a long time? It's taking me a workout just to not run outside the castle and exhaust every possible means of getting home. You said there have been others who have come and gone. If someone has done it maybe we can to?"

"Nope, and while I've been here a month - some people have supposedly been here over a year." Darcy said with a small shrug, crossing her arms and pausing in the doorway of the room. "No one knows who's doing it, how they're doing it, or any of it. We can come and go freely into the city and stuff, so it doesn't really make sense. Who sets up a most-expenses-paid vacation?"

"The $100 helps to get a few outfits, if you shop somewhere affordable, but that doesn't handle pajamas, robe, slippers, shoes, winter jacket, swimsuit, sunglasses - once it hits summer, I mean. There's a pool out back. And that isn't mentioning an iPod or a computer instead of the little cellphone, even if it is a cool cellphone." She grinned a little, "And some people have pets, which means expenses. I was thinking about getting a pet once I had a job, but I guess a roommate is just as good and less work necessary."

"And I'm calm about it because -" Darcy paused, trying to think why it was. "Well, you probably wouldn't believe me or it would melt your brain on top of everything else. Basic details, what I was doing right before I came here was so much weirder. And supposedly whenever anyone leaves, all of their stuff vanishes. If they had a way to make us able to return, they took it home with them. Are you a science sort of person?"

"A year?" Gwen wouldn't know what she would do if she were to be stuck there for an entire year. The only thing that was good so far was the fact that Darcy seemed like she was going to be a better roommate than the one she had at Empire State. "Not only who would set it up, but why us? Why not some other person?" Gwen put up her hands to show her questions were turning more into rhetorical ones, "I know, though, if no one even knows who's doing it or how; I don't anyone knows why. It just is."

"It's like starting all over again with the expenses," Gwen commented once Darcy had finished going through the list of essential items she would probably need in the coming months. She was suddenly thankful she was wearing her boots and coat. At least that cut back two expenses there.

Gwen shrugged, intrigued to hear more about Darcy's strange life that made being kidnapped and sent to another land just another day for her. "I had a small experience in strange earlier this year. So, try me. I've just been brought to a land called Imagination. So, I'll just about believe anything at this point."

"Yeah, I am. I was studying biology at school. I've also was an intern slash sometime research assistant for cross-species genetics," Gwen said. "I know it sounds a bit more science fiction than science, but it worked. Well...it worked right about once or twice out of, you know...ten. Are you?"

"The phrase 'I don't know' takes on so many new meanings here, doesn't it? It kind of massively sucks. But. What can you do?" Darcy shrugged, then made a face at the mention of expenses. "Plus, with Christmas coming up, there's Christmas gifts. I only have one or two I want to buy for - besides me, but still!"

"I'm not science-inclined, but I was doing a science intern because I waited until last minute to sign up for an internship and the only internship left was a science one. And I was a Poli Sci student so I kind of qualified." Darcy shrugged, then looked down for a moment. "We were studying - well, it's a bunch of weird mumbo jumbo, but it lead us to meeting Thor. Who is apparently real. And was outcast by his father to earth and stripped of his powers, but his stepbrother held a grudge and there were daddy issues. Valid ones, because Odin is - well. That's getting into the crazy stuff."

"But in short, I was part of an Asgardian's entourage before being brought here. So..."

"That's an understatement," Gwen agreed regarding how much it sucks not knowing or understanding what is happening. Gwen took a deep breath, trying to stay focused. So she was awake, she was in another world, and now she had to start all over again. At the mention of Christmas gifts she nodded in agreement but secretly hoped she wouldn't be there still when Christmas came around.

Gwen laughed, "Poli Sci counted for the internship?" She listened as Darcy explained Thor, Loki, and Odin. She shook her head trying to keep everything straight. "So you're saying the Norse gods are real and had some sort of sibling rivalry on Earth? You were in New Mexico...so how is it I have no knowledge of this? I feel like fighting Norse gods would attract some attention."

Gwen ran a hand through her hair trying to take in the new information. Things seemed to keep piling on. "You weren't kidding. You did come from strange. No wonder you're calm. I had my own run-in with my boyfriend...ex-boyfriend genetically altered with spider traits fighting a ten-foot lizard-human hybrid. But, that was a few months ago. You seriously win on the weird experience thing."

"Yep! And - apparently they do this big saving-earth-thing in New York later, along with someone I know you'll have heard of - Iron Man? Though, I guess I don't know if you would've heard of him. People are from different dimensions and stuff, so... maybe they don't where you're from." Darcy made a face, hating the confusion that those sorts of details brought about. "And really, I got the coffee and stuff, so - isn't that a big part of what an inter really does anyhow? Low man on the totem stuff."

"Genetically altered with Spider traits and a ten-foot lizard-human hybrid?" Darcy paused and stared at her roomie. "Can't science create something - cute? Fluffiest dog ever, or cutest kitten. Instead we have bridges to Norse gods visiting Earth and lizard-human hybrids who are - tall, for some reason. You would think a lizard-human would be shorter than a human since last I checked, Godzilla wasn't real." Was he?

Gwen shook her head, "I haven't actually heard of him, I'm sorry. I guess it is the whole dimension thing. I feel like I would have remembered Norse gods in New Mexico or some sort of Earth-doomed thing in New York. I'm from New York. The worst we've had is The Lizard I told you about."

She laughed a little and shrugged, "Well...I guess it affects people differently. We did once make a glow-in-the-dark bunny once, though. Unfortunately, he didn't live long. But it was cute and fluffy and glowing while he lived."

Gwen made a face at the thought of The Lizard. Darcy had a point, why was he so tall? "I'm not actually sure why he was ten feet...you would think he'd be small since lizards are small. Or at least human-sized and green with a long tongue? I'm not sure. I didn't really get a chance to ask him." She shook her head, trying to get the image of Doctor Conners like that. "So, what do you do around here? Do you go to the university nearby?"

"That or the time thing. Who knows? Hey, the Norse gods thing might've been going on at the same time as The Lizard or - the government might've played hush up. It's hard to tell anymore." Darcy admitted with a shrug, then turned her attention to the idea of a glowing bunny.

"Aww. That sounds - scary-adorable. Oh, well. I guess having a pet rabbit that glowed would make it hard to sleep at night anyhow." She conceded, then grinned. "A cat would be ever worse. Can you imagine the reactions if people's cats started to glow? Sneaking around in the dark no more."

"Exactly. And I guess you wouldn't." She shrugged, then made a face at the university mention. "I don't have my records from home, so - I really don't have a way to transfer credits. Just test out of classes. And then I would have to either get a scholarship or else go into debt soooo... I'm being lazy and not. I figure I'll get a job somewhere soon and just - live off the castle for however long this lasts. It's not like I have to worry about essentials. No, I watch TV, movies, read, lie around, take bubblebaths - you should look at the size of the bathtub and there's a separate shower, and wander around occasionally. Oh, do you want to go see the library or the kitchen? They're both huge and the library has a ton of movies too. Or do you want a few minutes alone in your room to have the 'omg' mental meltdown? I'm good either way."
