Oh.

His fingertips left trails of sparks in their wake, and her breathing rather unsteady. Siri was used to being the one to initiate, of being the one touching. And he’d touched her before, a hand on the arm, a grasp of the hand. But not like this. Never like this. It was new, and profound, and dizzying, all at once. It sent shivers down her spine and she never wanted him to stop.

She stepped closer as his hand fell back to his side, her fingertips brushing lightly down his cheek, ghosting over his lips, his jaw-line. Leaning forward slowly, she kissed him, the hand that had been cupping his cheek slipping once more into his hair.

There was a very brief moment when he wondered whether he'd overstepped his bounds - too much too soon - but that didn't seem to be the case as she followed up his action by kissing him. He sank far more easily into the kiss this time, returning it with a little more confidence, his hands moving to rest at her hips.

She was acutely aware of every inch of him, from the softness of his hair to the weight of his hands on her hips and the feel of his lips against hers. Oh, Force... She pressed closer to him, her fingers curling gently along his jaw as she kissed him raptly.

He could understand why this sort of thing had been prohibited by the Code. The emotions it stirred were strong and threatened to fill him to bursting. But he didn't draw away from them. Not this time. When she pressed closer, he pulled her tighter against him, his hands sliding from her hips around to the small of her back.

Now that she knew, knew of the way their emotions could feed and build off each other in... moments like this, she could almost anticipate it, but there was no controlling it. No stopping it. And she wasn’t sure she wanted to even if she could. The emotions made her as breathless as his touch did, and his pulling her tighter against him caught her by surprise. She’d always... wanted him, even if she hadn’t thought about it after they’d come to their agreement, had buried it and hidden it with all the rest of her feelings for him, but standing there in his arms, kissing him... the desire burned.

Twenty years of emotions set aside, returning now all at once, shooting through both of them, wrapping around them, willing her closer until they felt like one person...

And no reason to stop.

Until he felt so breathless, so restless with desire, so filled to bursting with emotion that he had to. For a moment. But he didn't move away. He rested his forehead against hers, gasping lightly.

Her breathing was just as ragged, and her acute awareness of him hadn’t ended with the kiss. She was still pressed tightly against him, and it wasn’t close enough. It was nowhere near close enough. She’d never... ached so much for someone before.

An ache was the way to describe it, but it wasn't a bad feeling. Though the need he'd always felt for her deep down, suppressed for so long, had become almost overwhelming.

"Siri... I..." His breath caught. "I..." Nope. Nothing coherent. He kissed her again.

It was twenty years of emotions, of wanting and needing that had been ignored and buried and hidden away. That no longer had to be. He kissed her again and that want, that need, burned brighter; she gasped into the kiss, pressing all the more tightly against him as her fingers tangled in his hair.

Anakin coughed, loudly, that emphatic kind used get people’s attention. And then he waited, with his arms crossed and fighting a smile, for the two wayward lovers to notice him. The fact that he’d been able to approach with nothing dampened in the Force, open the door to the roof even, without interrupting their lip exercises left him doubtful they would come to their senses quickly.

Wrong. At the sudden sound - the sound of something as luminous in the Force as Anakin being able to sneak up on them - Obi-Wan's eyes snapped open and he startled back half a step.

He hadn't felt his former apprentice's approach at all. Not even a vague tickle in the back of his mind.

"Anakin." He cleared his own throat, taking another step back, then looking from Siri to Anakin and, after appearing about to say something, suddenly stopped and looked at the ground instead.

What was there to say? It was exactly what it looked like. He straightened his cloak and clasped his hands in front of him, hidden in its folds.

Sithspit.

Flushed and breathless and unashamed, Siri let go of Obi-Wan, her hands slipping into the pockets of her jeans. She wanted to reach out to him but she wasn’t sure how he would take it. And she didn’t want to add to the shame and humiliation already radiating off of him. She knew why he felt that way. But they weren’t doing anything wrong. She knew him, knew it would take him time to realise that. And she would just have to help him realise it. She reached out to him through the Force, a gentle, tentative brush of contact. It’s okay, Obi-Wan.

She gave Anakin a crooked smile. The rooftop. Really, Anakin? “Hello, Anakin.”

Anakin couldn’t help the grin now. “Hello, Master. Hello Siri.” And to be cheeky he dropped his head in the customary Jedi bow of greeting.

He forewent explaining the purpose of his need to interrupt them and turned his face to the sky. “Lovely weather, isn’t it?”

Lovely weather? It wasn't okay at all; it was horrifying. He didn't move. He could feel Anakin's amusement. He steeled himself for the inevitable and imminent mocking.

It is. I swear it is. She knew him better than anyone. She knew he wouldn’t be finding anything about this okay. She would just have to keep reassuring him.

“I was enjoying it,” she told Anakin. There had to be a reason why he had come to the rooftop when he had to have known, or had an idea of, what was going on. They hadn’t exactly been hiding what they were feeling in the Force. And since her... since Obi-Wan wasn’t saying anything that left it to her.

“What brings you to the rooftop?” Or did you just have the worst timing possible?

“Were you now?” Anakin quirked an eyebrow at that.

“Oh, right,” Anakin said dropping into a more serious demeanor – though not by much. He gave a nod that would have been solemn if not for the slight grin that remained. “A young boy wandered into my workroom not long ago. Said he’d completed his morning exercises and homework and was now bored. And I didn’t think anything of it until he said perhaps he should go looking for his Master for more training. Which, as we all know, would have been a disaster. So I gave him something thoroughly engaging to occupy his attention and set out to find you.” That engaging thing Anakin knew would garner a scowl from Obi-Wan so left it undefined.

“Master, your Padawan has been impressively obedient and well-disciplined this morning. Next time, you might want to assign him more to do.”

That made Obi-Wan glance up with a grumpy expression.

"I don't know how to weight the work the school gives him for time. It's different each day and none of it makes sense. What's the point of having him write down things he read in a fictional book? They're not facts he'll need later and they're already written down in the book."

At least he was talking, now. Thank the Force. When it came to the subject of the younger Anakin’s training they didn’t need her input, so she started for the retaining wall, brushing her fingertips along Obi-Wan’s sleeve-covered arm as she passed him, taking a seat on the wall to give them space to talk.

Anakin was well aware of Obi-Wan’s thoughts about Ani’s schooling. However, he was also keen enough not to get drawn into an argument about something that was so far off the mark.

“Yes. Well, maybe later, I can impart to you all the tricks I know about occupying a Padawan’s time while you…” He did not finish that sentence. He just moved right on to his next point.

“For now, I have your Padawan fully engaged in riveting work. You will not be bothered until I forcefully take the project away from him. So, I’d say the rest of the day is yours to do as you both see fit.”

And he nearly left it at that. Siri's hand on his sleeve as she passed was almost ample distraction and enticement, but there was something concerning in Anakin's description of Ani's whereabouts...

"What? What is he doing? What have you got him working on?"

Anakin shrugged, hardly indicative of the mischief he's created. “I’ll leave it to your legendary negotiating skills to tell him the speeder bike he’s designing and building a model for will be only that, and not something he’ll be allowed to actually build.”

There is an easier way, Master, he sent to Obi-Wan. Tell him, he’s your Padawan. He will not despise you.

“Well then, I’ve work to do.” He bowed again to say good bye and turned to leave.

"Wh..." The word that began hardly got farther in his throat than a gasp. He didn't know what to say anyway. Anakin had clearly done that on purpose. Though, that being said, it was a project that Ani was probably so wrapped up in, he wasn't even aware of what Obi-Wan was feeling...

Two parts of him were at war. One wanted to put an end to this madness before Ani got too invested in it... the other wanted to stay here and lock the stupid roof door.

Anakin walked towards the door without stopping to explain further. Obi-Wan would figure it out when he and Siri came down from the clouds eventually. When he reached the door access to this particular stretch of roof he did look back at them.

“Did you know a locked door is the universal request for privacy?” And so he locked the door as he passed through it.

As the door latched behind Anakin, Obi-Wan closed his eyes and released his first full breath since the interruption before turning to look at Siri guiltily.

"He thinks I should tell Ani." An uncertain pause. "What do you think?"

Siri rose from where she was sitting on the retaining wall, crossing the space between them. She didn’t reach out for him. Not yet. “Do you want to?” A pause. “Are you ready to?”
