Sigrun had been cooking for days. Okay, so she got sidetracked thinking she was Lagertha (awkward) and all that, but the food was still good to go. She'd baked traditional dishes and modern ones, roasted venison over fires, smoked hams and sides of beef. There was meades, beers (both from her and Thor's own work) and juices, teas, and even soda (even if she hated the stuff), and plenty of things for both adult and children alike. Since she knew at least two younger kids would be showing up, she made sure there was kid friendly foods and drinks around, too. Plus she had set up a place for Octavia to leave Aurie for a few minutes if she wanted - a comfortable looking playpen. Okay so it was made with natural woods and comfortable looking homemade linens and pillows, but it was enough space for her to move around with nothing to choke on, and lined and padded so she could pass out in there too. Sigrun had set up bonefires, too, as well as smaller campfires in the longhouses, there was music playing. She'd worked extra hard with her Runes and Thor to make their music come to life without people playing. It was their birthday and their holidays and so much more. Sigrun wanted this to be a community, a place for comfort on the bad days, and what better way to really open it up than with a feast? She really had made it for all those who were Viking or Norse in any way to escape from the reality of a modern world, but it was open for everyone to take refuge at. Tonight, though, was all about birthdays. She had baked, too, a large cake for both her and Thor, lightning themed of course. What birthday would be complete without a cake? |
