Sydney couldn't help but feel that she'd gotten on the wrong side of half of Madison Valley. She hadn't meant to. She'd just seriously been offended by the idea of asking guys to be strippers in a public post. Sure, it was filtered against children, but it wasn't only children who shouldn't be seeing that. She hadn't wanted to see it, even a little bit.
Yes, Darcy had thrown back in her face that Adrian, when he'd been here, had been dancing on tables. That didn't surprise her one little bit. That was Adrian. It was who he was. And while she loved him with all her heart, she wasn't him. His wild side was something that she needed, something to pull her out of the little cocoon in which she wrapped herself. But she could never do the things that Adrian did. Or even approve of all of them.
The truth was, that while she'd tried to leave the Alchemist behind her when she'd fallen in love with Adrian, there were some things that were just too deeply imbedded in a person. She had certain ideas of what was right and what was wrong, and felt it her duty to speak when she saw something wrong happening. Which was what she'd done, and now everyone here probably thought she was some sort of prude.
And they wouldn't have been entirely wrong, even though she'd come a long way.
Well, she'd just have to live with it. She wasn't going to let what other people thought of her ruin her life. She had too much respect for herself for that.
So she'd gone to her favorite place in Madison Valley (well, second favorite, after the coffee shop), and was wandering the aisles of Staples looking for highlighters and file folders. Things like this relaxed her, and surrounded by the order of office supplies, she could convince herself that everything was going to be okay.
