It seemed Kate, for once, was not alone in her battle against ignoring everything and anything having to do with Father's Day. She didn't want to be the proverbial Debbie Downer, but it was tough. Sure, there were plenty of other people who were dealing with their own issues. Whether they didn't have a Dad for whatever reason, or just didn't want to know them? It wasn't easy.
Kate, despite the number of shots she had already consumed thanks to the myriad of proclamations over the network, was not going to let anyone else handle this thing alone.
Last minute as last minute could be, Kate sent out messages. She dug through her fridge and freezer, and would offer anything and everything she had. Which wasn't much. Some frozen bagel bites, a half bag of corn chips, guacamole, a handful of carrots with hummus, cold pizza, pretzels, and some leftover takeout. The sudden delivery of pizzas had been a blessing, and Kate had a good idea of where they came from.
He'd be getting a text later about how this was suppose to be a "Screw the World" party, and then a 'thank you'.
At least her liquor selection would cover it. There were a few bottles of wine, a bottle of bourbon, whiskey, rum, and tequila. There was some beer, which Kate figured she had offered to take home for someone for whatever reason. Maybe she would be lucky and someone else would take care of it.
Drawing up some half-assed sign for her front door - Door's Open! - Kate left the channel on the classic movie channel. She'd dare anyone to try and change it, and then send Lucky after them. Lucky never seemed to mind Kate's moods and behavior when it came to this. He either had a good time meeting new people, or he would curl up in his bed and sleep through it. It was why they got along so well.
Plopping down on the sofa, she tossed a few pretzels into the air and caught them. Her apartment, most likely, would look like hell in the morning. At that moment, though, Kate didn't care.
