Arthur had built a life for himself. He'd made a name for himself. He had, for several years, been able to live the life he wanted, more or less. He'd had money to buy nice things, he'd had self respect, and he'd been able to sleep when he lay his head down.
He found he didn't really miss the Dreaming, really. Without a PASIV here, there wasn't any way to enter the world of dreams. He wasn't sure he would want to go that route, even if he could. Except it sure would be nice if they could go in and incept the counsel members...but that wasn't exactly practical. Inception was a difficult task, and often there were disastrous results. It wasn't something Arthur spent a lot of time thinking about, because it wasn't going to happen anyway.
No, instead they all had to deal with the cards they were dealt. And right now, the hand sucked, majorly. There was a song that claimed 'every hand's a winner and every hand's a loser' but some hands were definitely more easily lost than won. Arthur wasn't a pessimist, though, and he wasn't the sort to give up. Maybe if Eames and Ariadne weren't around, but they were, and Arthur wasn't going to just sit by and watch them dangle in the wind.
Something needed to be done, to give the refugees a better hand to play against the counsel's stacked deck. Fake IDs and falsified papers were a good start, Eames was definitely on to something. Arthur was more than glad to help. But he needed to get up, get out, and stretch his legs. He informed Eames of his decision to take a walk and headed out into the balmy afternoon.
The streets were quiet, but not entirely uninhabited. Arthur nodded and smiled politely toward anyone he encountered. Local or refugee, he didn't care. Everyone deserved a smile in greeting.
