The fair has come to town! To those of you who have attended a rural county fair, this is pretty much your standard fare. To those of you who haven't, there will be rides, food, games where you can win huge stuffed animal prizes, and also...4 H stuff. Like...cow shows and rabbit shows and horses and talent shows and quilt competitions and...really, name it and it's probably there.

At the end of the night is a vast fireworks display to end the fair with!

What better time to stalk her favorite person than at the end of the fair? She couldn't think of it and she hadn't stabbed him in like, forever. It was high time to fix that, and it was more fun in a crowd where she could melt away if necessary. She put on jeans and a t-shirt, dark colored but not black, her hair in a braid, knives tucked under her overshirt. She moved with ease through the crowd, hunting her friend.

Some might find it weird but it was soothing to her.

She swept up behind him, pressing the point of a knife to the side of his ribs, grinning, "Boo" before she was off again, leaving him to find where she'd gone. It wasn't far. But the game was on now.

Chris hadn't been expecting Nyssa, though he also wasn't surprised in the least. They hadn't pulled this in a crowded place before -- people around, yes. This crowded, no.

Thankfully they both lived for a challenge. More to the point, they were both armed. That was just how they did things most of the time.

They had issues, alright? Lots of them.

But as soon as she was off, he was following after her. It wasn't going to be easy, but it was boring when it was easy. He wasn't a hundred percent what direction she'd gone in, but he knew Nyssa well enough to have an idea.

She'd left him alone for the last few months - and really that was not on purpose. It had just happened. And now that she'd settled back into things, she upped the ante, as it were.

Issues abound for these two. Their idea of ... not!flirting (flirting) was trying to stab each other in some new location. It really was the hallmark of something odd.

It was fine.

She was ducking around the cotton candy booth.

Yuuri was glad he was able to go to the fair with Elliott. Especially on the last night, when there was to be fireworks. Yuuri rather liked fireworks, and to be able to experience them with Elliott? It made them so much better. The sun was currently setting, and he figured that meant that the fireworks were going to start sometime soon. Because no one would do them during daylight, that would be pointless.

He took Elliott's hand, and leaned in to kiss his cheek. "Thank you for coming with me tonight," he said, smiling slightly at the man. "I wouldn't want to see the fireworks with anyone else. And definitely not alone." He placed one more kiss on Elliott's cheek, and then tugged him toward one of the funnel cake vendors. "You're going to share this with me, right?" he asked.

Elliott was happy Yuuri had said yes to going to the fair with him. He had wanted to go earlier, but work at Stature during the weekend had been something akin to WWIII, everyone wanted everything hemmed or altered. Don't even get him started on the Labor Day program at the elementary, if he ever had to make another Rosie the Riveter costume again it would be too soon.

Leaning into Yuuri's shoulder, Elliott smiled as he gave the man's hand a gentle squeeze. "I'm lucky you were free. Between the skating rink and the Den, who knew my boyfriend was such a hot commodity." Elliott. Elliott knew. And he couldn't be prouder of him.

Looking at the funnel cakes, Elliott took out some money, paying the vendor for one (very large) cake. "I think that can be arranged." He replied, taking the offered fresh-off-the-maker funnel cake with its paper plate along with a handful of napkins.

"What rides did you want to go on?"

"Oh, yes. Your boyfriend is the hottest commodity, Elliott." He grinned at the man, and squeezed his hand. "Such a hot commodity that an actual angel who'd seen me a few months ago at the Den decided I looked lonely on a gondola ride and rode with me." Of course, Yuuri didn't really consider himself to be a hot commodity. And he was only interested in Elliott.

He reached for the funnel cake and broke off a piece. He popped the piece into his mouth, "Don't let me eat too much of this, sir. I can look at funnel cakes and gain weight." He was always a bit wary of what he ate, because he knew he gained weight rather easily.

"The ferris wheel, at least."

As much as she hated carnival games for being rigged, Rose was competitive and the games provided a challenge. Plus, the games were cheap entertainment and after handing over two dollars, Rose found herself in a shoot the target match against a precocious ten-year-old. Rose had to give the boy credit; his aim was straight on but after her second try Rose managed to win a match. She walked away proudly with a stuffed teddy bear.

Tucking it under her arm, she ordered herself some nachos and cotton candy before finding a seat at one of the picnic tables. Setting down her food, she propped the bear up beside her on the wooden bench and started nibbling at her nachoes. It was starting to get dark out and she knew soon the fireworks would be starting...the main reason she had come here in the first place.

From the first moment that the demon stepped foot into the carnival grounds he had no clue what to expect at all. Yet the place was filled with some many amusing things; between bright colorful lights, all those smiling faces, and a seemingly endless supply of deep fried treats too. Just watching humans try their luck at the games brought Bel a bit of joy. Seeing them waste all that time, energy, and money to win cheap prizes...especially when it looked as if most of the games were rigged. Never one to mind a bit of trickery, Belphegor spotted an interesting prize that caught his figurative eye. And after winning ten straight ring tosses, thanks to a touch of telekinesis, the 'young man' walked away with a devilish grin. Now in possession of an adorable stuffed demon.

Games tried and won, he settled on grabbing a bit of junk food next. The funnel cake and corn dogs being his absolute favorites. Though the deep fried mac and cheese bites had earned a spot on the Infernal one's list of tasty treat too. Half of Bel's snackage was already devoured by the time he reached the picnic tables, but a cold beer was purchased before Belphegor strolled over to find a place to grab a seat. He had heard good things about the fireworks, and was sticking around to witness the colorful display first hand. Yet finding an open seat was proving to be a challenge.

After spotting table that still had room he moved over to it. Pausing only when the demon spotted the woman with the stuffed bear. "Hey there. Mind if I sit here too? Place is getting crowded, and it doesn't look like there's a lot of open spots around right now."

Rose looked up at the sound of the voice. Perhaps she had run into the young man at some point, but she couldn't quite place the face. He seemed nice enough and she rather liked that stuffed demon he was sporting too.

"Sure, " Rose replied with a small smile. She tugged the tie-dye teddy bear closer to herself and gestured at the empty places around the table. "Wherever you and your friend feel comfortable."

Hope was dressed in a pair of jean shorts and a t-shirt with ankle boots. She was nibbling on some popcorn as she slipped her way through the crowd at the fair. It was the last day and she wanted to make an appearance at least once before it ended. Plus, she liked to watch the fireworks.

It was getting dark out and Hope settled on a spot in the grass where there was an excellent view of the night sky. She'd brought a blanket with her and spread it out before plopping down to pick at the last of her popcorn as she waited for the fireworks show to start.

Thomas had never been to a fair before. They weren't a thing in his world. Or if they were, well. That would have been a long time ago. He didn't remember his childhood, but he was still pretty sure there was never a fair to attend.

He was having all sorts of first experiences in Madison. the fair was just the latest one. He had a drink in one hand, popcorn in the other, and he was trying not to spill either, which meant he was going to spill them both. He caught Hope's foot with his as he tried to walk past her, spilling a bit of his popcorn and some of his coke on himself.

"I didn't see you there. I am so sorry." He'd been too focused on trying not to drop anything that he'd lost sight of paying attention to his surroundings.

Zari liked the fair enough that she was here again. She hadn't gotten a chance to talk to Mary lately. Knowing Dean had recently returned, she thought it was a good time to check in with her friend. The fair seemed like a great place to meet up. They could talk and eat junk food, then maybe go on some rides. She knew how these things worked. Tonight was likely the last night for the fair this year. Why not spend that time with one of her closest friends in Madison Valley?

"I'm going to miss having funnel cake...until next year," she said, taking a piece of the sugary snack she was sharing.

She knew it wasn't a guarantee that either of them would be here next year, but she hoped so.

Mary was glad Zari had asked her to join her for the last night of the fair. It had been a while since they last chatted and with Dean coming back, there was plenty to talk about. Plus, Zari and Jesse too. Mary was eager to hear how they were doing together.

"We'll have twice as much then. I swear," Mary replied, picking off a piece of the funnel cake she was sharing with Zari and taking a bite. Like Zari, she knew neither of them were guaranteed a next year in Madison Valley, but Mary desperately hoped they were here again.

"How have you been? How are you and Jesse doing?"

They hadn't even really had to talk about it outside of figuring out what day worked for the both of them, because there'd never been any doubt about them going. For one, fair food. For another, fireworks were so much more fun since Katie had hit the age to appreciate them properly.

Or as properly as a five-year-old could.

They'd spent a while wandering around the fair, looking at everything and eating probably way too much. He'd even won a little stuffed animal for Alex. Well, more like he'd won it for Katie and the little girl had promptly declared it was Alex's. Who were they to argue with a small child?

And now they were settled in while they waited for the fireworks to start. He couldn't help looking over at Alex and smiling a little.

Alex smiled right back at him, enjoying this moment. She was here with people she thought of as family. She couldn't wait to watch Katie's face light up as she watched the fireworks. It was very maternal of her to want to experience these kinds of reactions.

"That was very nice of you to give me your koala," she said, hugging the stuffed animal to emphasize how much she planned to take care of it. "I will cherish it forever."

Lyra had never been to a fair before. There were a lot of things in this world that were new to her. Cars, electronics, fairs. But Fury was good about explaining things to her, he was very patient with her. She was grateful that she had him as a guardian. She couldn't have asked for a better guardian.

It was night time, just before the fireworks were about to start. She had pink cotton candy in her possession, and she was eyeing the game vendors as they walked by. "Do people really win these games?" she asked, as her attention was grabbed by a rather large pink stuffed unicorn. "They can win these?"

She wasn't exactly sure of the rules of the game that was advertising the unicorn as a prize, but she was intrigued by the unicorn.

Fury was actually having a good time. It had been a long time since he had been to a fair and he could appreciate it now. It wasn't exactly his scene per say, but he was enjoying watching Lyra's reactions to things. He wanted to give her every opportunity to experience things here while she remained.

"Would you like to try to win one?"

It was highly unusual for Penelope Garcia to ask out someone. And in all honesty, she was a little surprised with herself for doing it. Bobby was interesting though and she felt like they had a connection since she'd been the first one to welcome him to Madison Valley. Being matched with him for speed dating seemed serendipitous and with Derek being gone again, well... she needed to stop thinking herself in circles wondering what was going on between them.

She had no idea if this would end up being anything more than just a fun evening with a friend and that was perfectly fine since that was all she was really looking for at the moment. "So, what should we do first?" she asked after they'd met at the entrance. For once, she was actually wearing sensible shoes though they did not lack that signature Garcia flair.

Women when they went to things always wanted to have fun. It wasn't the same sort of fun as sitting around gorging themselves on fried food and beer either. Sure, they did a little bit of that, but they often wanted to go on rides, play games, and - Heaven Forbid - watch those God awful stage shows and presentation from local talent. If he had to watch one more girl hula hoop or a dog over along a log, he might actually go back to drinking.

Penelope seemed alright, though. She didn't seemed overly phased by his abruptness, something only a few people seemed capable back home - he did miss Natalie Martin for that. "Pray this place has good insurance. Have you seen some of these rides? One of them looks like it's being held up by a two-by-four."

Vanya had never actually been to the fair before, so when Jedikiah suggested they check it out, she'd agreed pretty quickly, more interested despite herself. It probably should've been something better left for kids, but as they got off the ferris wheel, she turned to him, eyes shining and a happy smile on her lips.

"This was a pretty great idea. I'm glad you mentioned it."

He thought the look in her eyes was one of the most beautiful things he'd ever seen. "I'm glad you're having fun," he said with a smile of his own. "I figured it'd be way to spend the evening, especially since the fair won't be back until next year."

He was going to operate on the assumption that it would be, since the fair was apparently a consistent thing. And honestly, he liked the idea of that.

Melinda always enjoyed the fair and tonight was the night of the big fireworks show. Making sure that she had a bag that had a blanket in it so that she could sit down while enjoying all the pretty colors. Walking around, she went and grabbed some popcorn, cotton candy, and another funnel cake, she just couldn't stay away. Once she got her snacks, she went and laid down her blanket and laid out her snacks as she waited for the fireworks to start.

Talking to herself she smiled, "This has been a really fun event." Putting some popcorn in her mouth.

Buffy and Spike

It was the last day of the fair and Buffy always went for the fireworks. This year, she wouldn't be alone either. Spike was going to be with her. Buffy felt very lucky. When she lost him for a second time, she wasn't sure if she would ever see him again. Madison Valley was unpredictable and the chances of Spike coming back were slim. There were no guarantees. Somehow, she had been one of the few who had someone return and remember the time they had here. Their marriage. All of it. Buffy felt complete again. There would always be that fear that he could slip through her fingers again, but she couldn't let that ruin the time they had here.

They had to take advantage of every moment. Buffy held his hand in hers, intertwining their fingers, as the two made their way through the crowd, searching out a place to settle down for the fireworks show. Both of them had played a few of the games and were currently lugging around two giant teddy bears over their shoulders. Buffy had a few treats stowed away on a bag over her shoulder, the strap under the teddy bear's plush belly. Scanning the area, Buffy spotted an open patch of grass and tugged Spike towards it.

"Perfect," Buffy said, giving him a smile. She released his hand and and pulled out the blanket. Carefully, she laid it out on the grass, using their two large teddy bears to keep it down and flat before taking a seat. She took up the vampire's hand and tugged him down gently beside her.

"It doesn't get better than fireworks and snuggling up with my husband to watch them. Oh and funnel cake." Buffy dug out the small container and opened it, ripping off a piece and popping it in her mouth before holding one out to Spike.

It felt strange to be at the fair. Mostly because it had been decades since William the Bloody had gone to a carnival, and yet he could recall showing up to one just two years ago as well when Spike had still been in Madison Valley. The disconnect between timelines still managed to catch the bleach blonde vampire off guard every now and then. But as always he strove to simply roll with it when things got strange. And tonight was no exception. After all, everything about this little outing was already so fun; good food, amusing games, and enjoying the company of the most beautiful woman in the world.

Oh the vamp had gotten a tad snarky when he lost a rigged game or two. Though Spike also won a few others with a touch of his inhuman strength. Which was almost as entertaining as having watched his wife totally dominate at a booth or two as well. The fact that the duo had a pair of giant stuffed teddy bears that they were lugging around drew a few looks of envy. Though where they'd put the bears when they got home was another matter altogether since William figured the stuffed bears would take up too much space on the bed. Maybe sticking them in Dawn's room when she moved out would work. And help make that room seem a little less empty as well.

When Buffy led the way to the grass Spike followed right along. Grinning like an idiot as they held hands, and delighting in that smile of hers when the Slayer finally settled on the perfect spot for watching the fireworks. As the two snuggled up on the picnic blanket, and she brought out the funnel cake too, William nearly giggled as he caught sight of that amazing deep fried treat. "Snuggling with you is always amazing, luv. But adding funnel cake and a fireworks display into the mix...a fella can get spoiled."
