At first glance, Eloise Bridgerton seems a bit like a pick-me. She won’t come out of her room when she’s wearing her outfit for her introduction with the Queen. Her dance card is full of fake names so she doesn’t have to dance, and she makes more than one rude remark about how frivolous these things are and why can’t they spend time on important issues? But perhaps Eloise is overcompensating. After all, her perfect sister was the Diamond the previous season. And how could the younger Bridgerton live up to the perfection of Daphne? Really? She succeeded and married a Duke. The only positive for her? She didn’t have to Come Out the same year. As she tells her mother: “I’m not Daphne,” after a disastrous ball, where she just gets overwhelmed and needs to escape to her room. Eloise doesn’t seem to know where she fits in with both her family and society. But she loves deeply. Her friendship with Pen means the world to her and she confides everything to Pen. They’re often seen laughing together and Eloise loves that she has her bestie this season, so she can escape with her to lay in the grass. When Benedict needs someone to talk to, it’s usually her, even if she uses sarcasm. Cullen returns and Eloise rolls her eyes about not encouraging him to keep talking about his travels. Mostly because he could do that and she isn’t able. Finally, Eloise is very observant and smart. She notices a pamphlet with a smudged k that also appears in Lady Whistledown’s writings and goes to investigate. When Pen starts making vocal observations, Eloise realizes that she’s Lady Whistledown. Her sadness over her friend’s betrayal (especially after writing about Eloise and making her a social pariah) is heartbreaking. sarcasm, wit, investigations it depends in game |
