Hello, everyone!

I figured I should post to the ooc page since Yuuko is my only kiddo in the game. I will be leaving, so I am very sorry to the two or three of you that I have a thread with. I may return with another character, but I am having a hard time feeling like Yuuko is fitting in. Perhaps I bit off more than I can chew with her~ I do, however, love this plot and I have had a great time meeting many of you. I hope when another muse strikes, I will return.

Just a little plot note: I'm canon-updating Cuthbert past the end of Wizard and Glass and partway into the graphic novels (because they're awesome)

There will be a short gap between him leaving Madison Valley and returning. So as of last Saturday night, Cuthbert is no longer anywhere to be found in the dome  town. Anyone who would/wants to notice is free to, and he'll be back soon. :)

So as Molly and Harry's thread lays out, there's going to be a snow-storm this afternoon, as previously said.

Feel free to have your characters react to the sudden cold weather!

This isn't a big plot or anything, more of an FYI.

This Sunday, on the Autumnal Equinox, it's going to snow. Yes, it's freakishly early for it to snow in Madison Valley. When I lived in the town it was based on, it was pretty much unheard for it to snow before Halloween.

So what's happening - Molly Carpenter is the Winter Lady, one of the Winter Fae Queens. Harry Dresden is trying to teach her how to control her powers by provoking her emotions, and in so doing, he's going to push her over the edge and she's going to draw on the power of Winter. Within in an hour (around 5:00pm EST), the temperature is going to drop 55 degrees Fahrenheit, from around 70 to about 15 or 20 degrees F. It'll be cold and blustery, and overnight it will snow, although it'll melt quickly.

It'll stay cold (although gradually getting warmer) through Tuesday, when regular temperatures will return.

Do with it as you like!

I'm a new member, so I wanted to introduce myself first before jumping in. You can call me Shaz, and I am a history major, which might explain my somewhat random choice for a first character here. I bring you Lucrezia Borgia, younger sister to the fearsome Cesare Borgia. She's perhaps a little more approachable than her brother, though no less dangerous. Of course, Madison Valley seems about 60x less treacherous than Rome (so far...), so maybe she can shelve her mad poisoning skills for now. She'll be suffering from the sort of shell shock that comes from being brought 500+ years in the future, but what isn't fun about that?

Okay! I'm back in Mishawaka, and since the feedback on the random match-ups sounds pretty positive, we're going to go ahead with that. Here's how it will work:

1. You will be randomly matched up with another character who has been volunteered.
   
2. You will have 1 month to complete your match-ups.
   
3. If a match-up is completed, with at least two tags per player, you both receive 50 points (yes, this qualifies as your entire activity requirement, if you do the match-up).
   
4. If the month passes and you do not do your match-up, that character will not be eligible for match-ups the next month.

This month, since we're already about halfway through, you will technically have until October 31 to finish your match-ups. However, if you finish them on September 30 or before, you will be rematched. :)

I've noticed recently that a quite a few open threads have gone unanswered, and in an attempt to remedy this (and due to the fact that this is a writing community), I'm adding a rule that one thread of at least two replies EACH is required for each character to pass the activity check. Most of the good juicy work of character building gets done in threads, so let's have fun with those and get to know each other's characters. Open threads are great, because random characters get to meet up, but closed threads are perfectly good as well.

Secondly, you can now also buy home upgrades with your points. Moving to a two-bedroom apartment will cost you 500 points, but other than that, it's going to be on a case-by-case basis. Show me what kind of house you want, and what kind of neighborhood it's in, and the cost will be decided from that. While not required, it would be cool if you found houses that were actually in Madison, Indiana...which can be found easy enough on real estate sites. :) If you have any questions about what areas are nicest, most expensive, etc., PLEASE ask me, I lived in this town for 30+ years and will easily (and happily) answer your questions.

Also, for those of you whose open threads have not been answered - they still count for the full 35 points. You made the attempt, and it's not your fault it wasn't answered, so you will receive full points for it.

And! A question - How would people feel about being assigned threads with random characters? This is completely voluntary (you'd have to sign up), and it would be worth 50 points a thread (as well as your thread requirement). I've seen other games do this, and it's a good way of getting to know other characters and forming relationships. Would there be any interest in this?

Also! I am leaving tomorrow to attend the US/Mexico Soccer Game in Columbus, Ohio. I'm not taking my computer, but I will have my phone and my kindle. I will not be around much, but I will be able to answer questions via e-mail, and possibly do a few tags. Applications will be on hold until Wednesday, when I return.

Hello everyone!!

Ashley here bringing my last for awhile (famous last words right?), Clary Fray, from the Mortal Instruments series. She's coming in at the end of the first movie.

Clary is 16 years old and she's a Shadowhunter but she doesn't know the extent of her abilities or how to harness them as her mother kept her in the dark about her heritage. She's starting to learn though!

As always, all of my pups are up for interaction and plots! I know I'm behind in a few places but I will catch up! I've had a few rough weeks as I've had two deaths in the family in two weeks. 2013 is not being nice to me.

Congratulations, we've just finished our second activity check (our first full one).

So just a few updates and reminders.

First, three rules that need to be emphasized again.

1. Threads (logs) have a word count minimum of 100 words. I'm not going to be counting words on all your threads, but please try to keep at least the majority of your posts this long (or longer).

2. It is stated in the rules that you must reply to everyone who replies to an open network thread in order to get points for it. I'll quote the rules here: You will not get points for a comm or network if you have not replied to everyone who replied to your post. You don't have to have a long conversation with them, but at least acknowledge that they posted. It's not fun to be ignored. I've let this slide the past few months, but as I think it's an important rule, I'm not going to anymore. I'll be checking open posts to make sure that everyone who has replied has at least one comment. If there is an IC reason for ignoring them, then tag the comment and tell them that, ooc. But acknowledgement is required.

3. If you have a difficult month for activity, that's fine. You can make it up the next month. If you do not have the minimum level of points, you will be put on a sort of activity probation. You will have to make 1.5x as many points the next month (for a minimum of 75), and if you do not, your character will be removed from the game. If you do, then all's good!

Secondly, I want to encourage everyone in game to respond to what's going on around them. Tell us what your character is doing, where they're working. I want this game to be open enough that people can create lives for their characters without the mod telling them what to do. Every couple of weeks there will be a plot update of sorts, but this is your game, and you guys are the ones keeping it going. :) If you have any questions about what you can or can't do, feel free to ask!

Misha here. I have made the difficult decision to drop, and free up my characters. Work is really kicking my butt, and I'm needing to shave my list down a bit, because I'm just not able to give the game much these days, my characters and their relationships are suffering and I don't think that's fair to me, them, or you. <3 to all.

Okay, Rebecca here with some additions (and one subtraction).

Sadly, for now I dropped Simon (seanconnery) - the voice just wasn't coming for me so I thought I'd better focus my energy on better and brighter things.

So we've got two new ones for you:

Greg Lestrade greglestrade, of Sherlock (PBS) fame. Greg is your long-suffering Detective Inspector, often charged with putting up with Sherlock's antics and bad behaviour because the consultant provides results. Currently, he's one of those loved-ones that Holmes is hiding from, and Lestrade believes that Sherlock committed suicide, jumping off of the roof of a building. That was about eight months ago, and since he's been putting his career back together again, which hasn't been without a good deal of angst and hardship.

Speaking of angst and hardship...

Charles Xavier theprofessor is also joining the party. Mutant and proud, Charles will not be talking about his powers on the network, he will not be registering and he will more-than-likely start to cause problems in the not-so-distant future. He's a bit of a tricky character to play, because he is basically the most powerful telepath in the history of telepathy, but he only uses his powers for good! And he only uses them rarely!

... But he won't be on board with what the council is trying to do.

He's spent the last several months in hiding from all of his loved ones (query whether his brother is a loved one) because, among other things, his favorite person in the entire world just died.

My name is Caitlin and I have been referred here by Ashley! <3 I'm online quite a bit, as I work from home, so you can easily contact me and likely hear back from me quickly via AIM (meagnstxthemusic) or email (my.hanzatsu@gmail.com) if you have questions, or want to plot, etc, etc~ I have been role playing for about ten years, maybe more, it's hard to really say when your little one-liners in a notebook passed between classes with your friends making up a story really started, or if it really counted! :)

With me I am bringing Ichihara Yuuko (Last, First Name as in Japanese), from the manga and anime series, xxxHolic. I'm taking her plot point from the manga, as the anime really was frivolous and not to my liking, but good work nonetheless! For those of you perhaps reading the series, or interested in it, I don't want to publicly disclose that point, so I don't ruin the end of the series for you! It's fantastic. If you want to see more about her, all of her info is on her profile--beware, her plot point is listed.

Yuuko is known in her series as "The Time Witch" or "The Witch of Dimensions" as she has great magical powers that send characters in a crossover series (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle) through time and space on a quest. She is a wise woman, and in my honest opinion a great place to poise plot from. If you're ever in a jam, I'm sure I could help you figure out something! Yuuko also really likes to get sloshed on sake and wine, so any of you social drinkers out there can have a new buddy to raise a glass with! When she isn't being a serious woman who refuses to interfere as fate is the greatest power of all, something that she believes should not be tampered with--and has learned that her meddling causes sometimes severe consequences--she's pretty funny and lighthearted!

My friends and I joke that "she is the CLAMP universe Doctor." Hehe!

She's very respectful of ghosts and spirits, and welcomes all into her home be they good or bad. Goodness and Badness are human creations anyway, and mean nothing in the spiritual world.

So clearly last month was rough for me, being my first full month out on the floor at my job (and having a sucktackular schedule--that probably won't change, but I'm getting used to it, and also now have a cell phone so I can occasionally tag during breaks), so I dropped the ball a bit with the girls, especially Mandy.

Which is why I'm going to try to start this month out right so I'm not frantically adding up my points on the 25th. Anyone want to set up some plot with either Mandy or Belle, hit me up here.

So the summer holiday's over and I'm back at work today! I'll still be around a lot (because I'm far too addicted to writing here) but I won't have computer access 8AM-5PM GMT on weekdays. I'm up crazy early during term-time, so I'll be around before that quite a bit, and in the evenings as usual. :)

Hey guys! You've got Anna, and this is my second character, MCU Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier!

Bucky Barnes (winter) is joining you at a pretty weird time in his life. He's speculative movie canon for Captain America 2, which basically means that he's a brainwashed Russian assassin who has no idea that he's Bucky Barnes, and is currently attempting to kill Captain America. There are lots of little divergences from comic book canon in terms of his timeline and backstory, but the basics of the comic book plot line are the same. If you're familiar with Captain America v.5, he's from the point right after he shot the Red Skull launched a terrorist attack on Philadelphia. If you're not... world's longest app may help clear things up, and I can answer any questions you have about him.

Bullet points?

• Formerly, best friend and comrade-in-arms of Captain America back in WWII.
  
  
• Fell of a train, presumed dead, captured by Russians, brainwashed and used as a weapon.
  
  
• Currently, super-skilled sniper/assassin with a kickass bionic arm and a high powered modified assault-sniper rifle. And a couple of hand guns holstered to his thighs.
  
  
• Doesn't know who he is, so he mostly goes by his code name, Winter Soldier. (Or in Russian, Zimniy Soldat.)
  
  
• He used to work for the US Army, then he worked for the USSR, then he worked for the Russians, and now he works for Lukin, who is trying to destroy the US and return Russia to its former glory. HYDRA is involved. It's all very complicated.
  
  
• Spent a lot of time between missions in cryostasis, because his Bucky memories/persona would start to peek through on missions and he'd go rogue. The only way they could think of to mitigate this was, apparently, sub-zero temperatures.
  
  
• He's mostly been asleep since the dissolution of the USSR, so he may call you comrade.
  
  
• As of the Avengers, SHIELD doesn't know he's a thing yet. They certainly don't know that he's been reactivated. And at this point, nobody knows that the Winter Soldier is Bucky Barnes -- though there were rumors among the Russians about who he was. Karpov certainly knew, and thought it was basically hilarious.
  
  
• He wears a mask, has long hair, and has a bionic arm, so even those who know who Bucky is may very well not recognize him if they see him around.

Rebecca here with character number 4, who will probably be my last for a while. (Famous last words, amirite?) Anyway, Sharon is coming from just before the events of Captain America 10. Which I'm not going to tell you about, because it would be a Spoiler, but which is pretty significant for her character. Anyway, she's ex-SHIELD, she's a spy, she's highly trained in combat, and while not a super human, she's a force to be reckoned with. She's pragmatic, loyal, extremely clever, diligent, interested in helping and protecting people...

...And she'll probably be your first, last and only line of defence against The Winter Soldier, winter

This is Aika with her newest character, Lizzy Carrera. Lizzy's an OC, she's working with the town's council (although growing gradually disillusioned with what they're doing) so it should be fun for me see how everyone reacts to her posting on the network. She comes to Madison Valley with her three-year-old daughter and degrees in physics, because yay for science.

Important! Lizzy's from the primary world. That means that if you want, and your characters or their fandom aren't too obscure, I can have her be familiar with them (even moreso than through network spying) and recognize them from their movie/TV show/whatever. If you'd like her to do this and point out to them that she thought they were fictional, or make remarks implying she's familiar with their backstory, post here and let me know! I won't ever have her canon-puncture anyone without OOC permission, but if anyone's interested, it could be fun.
