Discussion: Fools
As we wind down the April challenge, I thought it might be fun to talk about Snape, Lupin and our Fools topic. You can either talk in general about Snape and Lupin, and times when they might have acted foolish in canon, or you can remember a moment in a fic where one or both were fools and share it with us.
Or, you are welcome to go back to the original Fools Challenge, pick a quote or image from the list, and discuss how it might apply to Snape/Lupin. Even tell us the bare bones of the story or image you wanted to create this month that you never got around to, if you want.
Feel free to chat back and forth in the comments, just be sure to respect each others' opinions (which you all always do, but just as a reminder to new members, there).
Talk about Smart Men and the Foolish Choices They Made - Snape and Lupin should write the book. I love a good romance, I love a strong Snape and strong Lupin, but in canon, these two men made disastrous choices. And the most obvious, the most compelling of their foolish choices came at the opposite end of their lives - Snape's at the beginning and Remus's at the end.
Snape's choice to join the Death Eaters dictated almost every moment of the rest of his life, while Remus' choice to marry Tonks came much later. There's also room to argue that Remus made many other foolish choices in his life, it's just that this last one stands out has his worst, because we see his reaction to it. However, both men's foolish choices gave them each a lasting legacy, Snape in his help bringing down Voldemort and Remus in Teddy.
