~A Grave and Serious Undertaking~
A memory of a line spoken in a long-ago lesson, “It is a grave and serious undertaking to usurp the prerogatives of a Creator”, echoed through his mind.
But he wasn’t really usurping the Creator’s prerogatives; after all, Lupin wasn’t actually dead. Only in a death-like state, a condition only he could change. A condition he would change, for the opportunity to …to what? To reveal his foolish and long-suppressed desires? To display his stupidity, his vulnerability, for all to mock and scorn? To risk the secret of his survival becoming known? And for what? What potential gain could outweigh these risks?
It was a grave and serious undertaking, he thought, to act upon love. And with this thought, Snape cast aside all doubts, and thrust the first potion under his lover’s nose.
And silently prayed. For it was a grave and serious undertaking to acknowledge the prerogatives of a Creator.
