It's Chloe's birthday and she'll cry (laughing) if she wants to
Who: Chloe, Erin, Jasper and Jameson
Where: Random, noisy, fun bar
When: Night time!
It was Chloe’s birthday and she was ready to party. And dressed to impress, at least to impress herself, which was all she really cared about. And to think hours earlier she didn’t even know it was her birthday. Hell, she didn’t even know how old she was going to be, let alone when her birthday was. Since Leeloo had been kind enough to let her know, however, and Erin had gone to the planning extent to take the next day off to party properly, this was going to be epic; lack of planning on the birthday girl’s part, or no. Upon entering the bar, Chloe immediately turned to Erin and grinned. “So, first order of business is drinking. Then, we drink some more. Then a little more - I’m thinking shots, hence a little - and then we dance. Sound good?” She sure hoped so. Drinking wasn’t a staple of a fun night out for Chloe, but them cocktails sure tasted great, and she had a sweet tooth.
Only Chloe would forget these kinds of things. That was okay with Erin, though. She could remember the details. She was twenty-six, but if done right, Erin wouldn’t remember by the end of the night either. She pushed her hood off and unzipped her hoodie, shaking off some of the rain as she did so. “Lead the way, BB. It’s all on me tonight.” This was both a partial present, and practical. Chloe would probably forget to pay. Besides, the fuzzy boots Chloe was currently rocking had only been half the present.
Another night and yet another bar. As far as Jasper was concerned, he was going to get himself drunk every night until the weekend came just to rid himself of all the misery. Sounded good in his book. He was already on his third beer and wasn’t planning on stopping anytime soon. At least he had his twin in tow. The booze was taking the edge off of the psychic trip he was having with the visions and right now that was a better distraction than thinking about Elsie. Though tonight, Jasper was paying for the bill. After the other night, it was probably going to be a while until Jameson trusted his twin with his credit card. “Just need somethin’ to distract me, even for a second,” he bitched to his brother, rubbing his eyes in the process. It was then he caught a familiar face out of the corner of his eye. Was that...? Blinking, Jasper leaned over to investigate down to bar to see if in fact the girl who came on in was Erin. Definitely looked like her. And holy crap, was she dressed to kill. Fuck, and Jameson was here. Lovely, he wasn’t going to let Jasper live this down, either. “Jamie,” he nudged his twin, talking more quietly than normal, then motioned to Erin with his chin. “That’s her. Erin.” And apparently with a friend in tow. Though knowing Jameson, he was not going to be as hush-hush about it as Jasper was.
One could argue that accompanying his twin brother on the most epic of drinking binges ever probably wasn’t good for either of them, but Jameson had long since stopped listening to that logic. If Jasper wanted to get drunk, then Jameson would be there with him, end of story. In his mind, it was the only way to handle having someone like Elsie back, and anything that would make Jasper forget for a while and actually have be, you know, himself again, Jameson was all for that. Good thing he was paying tonight, though, because after last time, Jasper owed him. All he said was, “I know,” then turned to see what had caught Jasper’s attention. Jameson remembered what Erin looked like, from the last round of demon hunting, and a grin broke out across his face. Oh look, she even brought a friend, hurray for avoiding third wheel syndrome! If anything, Jameson was sure having Erin around would help Jasper find his lost balls and get some of his confidence back or at the very least, lead to a damn good time.
So, in true Jameson McQueen fashion, he glanced over at the two women and gave them his best Southern gentleman smile. “Evenin’ ladies,” he drawled. “Got a couple seats down here if y’all want to join us.” Because yes, Jameson’s accent was a little thicker after a few beers, what of it? Waving the bartender over, he said, “Set these two up, courtesy of my brother Jasper here.”
Giving Erin a look of admiration and thanks, Chloe grinned. “Well, good to know. You know I’d probably just walk out of here without paying anyway, and then one of the bouncers would have to chase me down the street to remind me...” Yes, it had happened before. No, Chloe would never live that down. It was good that Erin was here and promising to pay, maybe she wouldn’t forget. Although if she got as shitfaced as it was beginning to seem she would...
As they got to the bar, Chloe didn’t really notice anyone in particular sitting there; at least not until she heard the sexiest drawl and noticed he was talking to them. Blinking, she turned to Erin again. “Since I haven’t even started drinking, I’m willing to bet I’m not seeing double here.” Double the fun, maybe. Still, she was hesitating, wanting to defer to Erin for better judgment skills. Of course when he ordered them drinks and said they were on his brother, Chloe just shrugged and hopped happily on to their table, sitting next to the one who had talked. “Hi! I’m Chloe.” She held out her hand. She would reveal the birthday thing later. It was lame to have that as the first thing to say to a guy you were just now meeting for the first time.
And suddenly, twins! How on earth had Erin missed them? She grinned and followed Chloe, giving her a little nudge in the back as she did. “Well if it isn’t the McQueen twins!” That was kind of perfect. Though she realized she now had the fun task of figuring out which was which. Somehow, the talker seemed like Jameson. Even if she had nothing to base this on. “Perfect timing, boys,” she said, taking a seat. “It’s Chloe’s birthday! Do you want to help us celebrate?” There was really only one acceptable answer, and she hoped they knew that. She leaned over to explain in Chloe’s ear. “Cops. Were at the demon thing. One of them’s like me.” Huh, that was weird. She’d gotten a little too close to Chloe’s face and when her cheek touched hers, she could see the long, detailed process of her make-up’s creation and eventual application. That had been a long one.
Yup, Jasper could have called that one a million miles away. Then again, Jameson was good like that. At least having Erin and Chloe around meant nothing but good times. Jasper just had to... stop... staring... at Erin’s dress... thing. And to think she worked at a morgue. Yeah, bullshit. Averting his gaze to at least maintain his gentlemanly posture, he took a long gulp of his beer, flinching away all those nasty visions in the process, and then turned to greet the ladies. “Evenin’ lovely ladies,” he waved drunkenly in their direction, because like fucking hell he was shaking anybody’s hand right now. “And you’re in luck, ‘cause we’re not leavin’ this joint ‘til we close it, so you’re gonna have yourself one might fine birthday night, Chloe.” Jasper smiled in her direction and lifted his beer bottle in her direction. “Best of wishes to ya!” Then he immediately placed it back down, because fuck that assembly line vision he kept seeing for the 20th time. Instead, he looked back over to Erin. Better distraction. “And good to see ya again, Erin. Lookin’ beautiful yourself tonight.” And then Jasper turned and looked at the slob that was unfortunately sitting right next to him and elbowed the prick. “Hey. Better move. That seat’s now for that fine young lady right there, mmkay?” He pointed a finger lazily over in Erin’s direction and Mr. Slob looked at the pair of athletic twins and the two tattoo’d sex kittens and soon found himself at the far end of the bar. Jasper merely grinned and patted the open seat for Erin.
Oh yes, identical twins, right down to the dimples in their cheeks. While it was easy for one twin to pretend to be the other, Jameson was of the belief that it was easy to tell them apart after you knew them a while. Jameson was louder, and was the one with the cane; Jasper was the schemer, and the one who flinched whenever he touched something. “Amen to that,” he said, taking a drink of his beer. Did Erin and Chloe realize what they were getting into? Maybe not, but Jameson for one knew it would be a good night, and he wasn’t worried about what might happen. Unaware he was currently spiking Erin’s abilities as well as Jasper’s, he gave them each his best smile, followed by a sideways glance at Jasper as he wrangled Erin a seat. Go, Jasp, go! Jameson was still sober enough to not cheer his brother on out loud. Yet. “And happy birthday, Miss Chloe,” he said, gesturing to the empty seat next to him. “Here’s to endin’ the day on a good note.”
Well, and Erin had taken care of the birthday thing. Perfect! When her friend leaned in, Chloe did the same, looking from one twin to the other as Erin spoke. "Oooh. I see." Chloe had never met a cop before, that she remembered - which wouldn't mean a thing, considering the number of things she didn't remember on a daily basis. This could be interesting. She smiled at the more drunk of the two. nodding thankfully as the bartender came around to take hers and Erin's order. "I'll have a...Well, look, just get me the sweetest non-virgin cocktail you've got." Easy enough. She couldn't remember the names of any drinks anyway. Chloe smiled at the other twin. "Thanks, guys, so nice of you to partake in the celebrations!" She said with a chuckle. And then she got distracted by the music, trying to think of who that song was by. This could take a while.
Erin couldn’t help but feel like someone had given her a new game and the cheat guide, complete with highlighted passages for optimized awesome. She smirked and sat down, resisting the urge to tease him by pretending to touch him. He was too new to the club, better not scare him off right away. “Why thank you,” she settled on instead. She laughed at Chloe’s order, or more accurately, the look on the bartender’s face. “Just dump a pixie stick in a beer and put a cherry on top, she’ll never know.” The bartender blinked at her, seemed to remember her face, and went to get a bottle of whiskey without asking. That was good. Erin liked impressionable bartenders. He left the bottle - another smart move - and went to try and figure out Chloe’s order. With a triumphant grin, she looked back at the twins. “And what are you boys doing out this evening?”
Jasper actually snorted at what Erin told the bartender, looking over to her with a raised eyebrow and smirk on his face. That sounded like something he would have dared Jameson to drink when they were fourteen. Hell, maybe he’d pull that one on him just for shits and giggles and see what happened. Taking another long drink, Jasper placed his drink down and licked his lips. “To enjoy ourselves and forget ‘bout the shit that’s been goin’ on.” He paused for a second. “Well, not for this fucker over here. He lucked out in the shit department. Jamie’s here for moral support. I’m here to enjoy myself.” Jasper looked to both Erin and Chloe and nodded. “So far so good! Glad you’re havin’ a birthday and all, Chloe. Gives me more reason to order those shots I’ve been wantin’.”
Rolling his eyes, Jameson said, “I might be moral support, but rest assured, I am all over enjoying myself, thank you.” Some nights it didn’t take much, just a few drinks and a pretty girl or two to help pass the time. And look - here were two very beautiful girls - one who he’d been trying to push Jasper toward for a while - and enough alcohol to last them into next week. How could this go wrong? Reaching over the bar, something of a feat considering that Jameson didn’t move as well as he used to anymore thanks to his leg, he flagged down the bartender. “We’re gonna be needin’ a round of shots over here, any of y’all got a preference?”
Erin’s advice to the bartender only made Chloe laugh, mostly because it was probably true. “No, but seriously.” She looked up at the bartender. “Something sweeter than beer.” As he finally was off trying to find something sweet for Chloe and getting everyone else’s drinks, Chloe finally paid attention to the conversation at the table. Tilting her head, she pouted slightly in Jasper’s direction. “Aw, sweetie, what’s wrong?” Not that she knew him well enough to even want to know, but it seemed like the nice thing to do. She would forget in a while anyway. A drunken air elemental has about as good a memory as a person with short-term memory problems. “Shots? I’m in. Bring ‘em!” She told Jasper grinning. If he was wanting to have a good time, and so was she, and they were at a bar, shots just felt right. She then turned to Jameson. “Oh, good, I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself. I’d hate for you to be bored on my birthday party. Yeah I’ve hijacked your night, this is now my birthday party.” She announced nonchalantly, though she was still smiling. Then, Chloe looked over to Erin and winked. If things went right and each of them went home with one of the twins, this would probably be the best birthday ever for everyone involved, and a story for the ages. She and Erin would be talking about it well into their 80s. “No preference, Jameson, thanks. When it comes to shots I’ll down just about anything.” Which, of course, sounded all kinds of wrong, but Chloe didn’t really notice.
Erin was raising an eyebrow herself at Jasper’s reply, but she didn’t have to ask. Chloe did it for her, in her Chloe ‘everybody’s my best friend’ sort of way she was so good at. She laughed at the idea of shots, gesturing for them to bring it on. “She will, too,” she commented, waiting for Chloe to pick up on it. “Whatever, the worse the better right? I’m not working tomorrow.” Might as well live that up for all it was worth. It just worked out so well to run into a pair of pretty twins on the occasion. Though she still wanted to know what was up with Jasper. Of course, she could just casually touch his arm and try and find out herself, but it just seemed like poor form with another touch-know. Etiquette. Erin snorted at the idea. What a bitch.
Hell yes they were doing shots now! Jasper just smirked over at his twin, glad they were actually going through with this cracked out plan. And then Chloe had to ask the question of what was going on, because everyone did when you said you were in a shitty mood. Jasper didn’t want to rain on Chloe’s night out, but the liquor did wonders to loosen his lips. “Had a run in with an ex of mine and she tore me a new one. Just tryin’ to forget ‘bout it.” Then he gave a look over to Erin, smirking as he drank in the sight before him and then looked back to his glass to poke it around casually. “So far so good, if ya ask me. You ladies just became the cherry on the top for the night.”
Sadly, Jameson was supposed to go to work tomorrow. But, lucky for him, he was supposed to be at the shop in the morning, and seeing as it was his cover job and not his actual job, he was less inclined to give a shit. Shots it was, then, and he ordered a round of tequila to start. Truth be told, he doubted it would be their last. “As far as I’m concerned,” he said, “she’s forgotten, in the past, and we have a birthday party to get to.” And the McQueens knew how to take care of that, that was for damn sure. Granted, Chloe might not remember everything from her birthday, air elemental or not, but sometimes those were the best nights over all. “Might glad y’all came out to join us.”
At Erin’s little joke, Chloe eyed her sideways before snorting with laughter. Anyone else making that joke would get a broken nose, but not Erin. Special permissions were paramount to a special friendship after all. At Jasper’s explanation, Chloe offered him a sympathetic look and rubbed his arm. “Aww, I’m sorry sweetie!” Then she turned to Erin, leaning over to whisper in her ear. “See this kind of crap is why I don’t have boyfriends.” It was true, too. She wasn’t girlfriend material and the drama that came attached to that kind of thing wasn’t something Chloe ever wanted to experience. “I like your attitude.” She casually told Jameson, wondering in passing how long before they were doing body shots, if at all. “I should be so lucky...” She murmured, looking off into nothing in particular again.
Well. THAT explained a lot. Erin raised an eyebrow at the explanation, and raised her glass with a shrug. “To the future, then,” she saluted, before throwing back the shot and hitting it to the bar. When her pinkie brushed the wood she got glimpses of who had been sitting here before. She grinned wildly at Chloe’s secret comment to her. “Yeah, that’s the reason why.” She didn’t like to sample or change guys like she changed underwear, not at all.
Jasper grinned as the shots came around, taking one and instantly knocking it back. He didn’t care if it burned going down or not - it would help him forget about the shitstorm that was his life right now. “No need to be sorry, Chloe,” Jasper nodded in her direction. “We should all be celebratin’ anyways!” And there he went grabbing another shot. If he was drunk now, he was going to be ‘what the fuck, why is there a Sharpie dick on my face?’ in about a minute. “So, ya got any special birthday wishes of yours?” Then he smirked and raised his eyebrows. “Anything Jamie here can help ya with?” Sorry, he had eyes on Erin and claimed dibs the second she walked in.
And Jameson was right behind Jasper when it came to taking shots, the two of them moving almost in unison. Hey now, they were identical twins, it was almost a given. “What Jasp said. Nothin’ but good times ahead of us, and a glorious night.” Any night that involved a bar was usually pretty glorious in Jameson’s opinion, especially since he was decidedly not on the job right now. He was still sober enough to remember that Jasper had dibs on Erin, and he wouldn’t lie, he was mighty liking the attitude Chloe showed off so far. “Y’know, anythin’ for the lady,” he said with a wink.
Narrowing her eyes at Erin, Chloe pretended to be very upset at her little quip about the lack of boyfriends. Of course her friend had a point, this was only one of the many reasons why Chloe didn’t have boyfriends, and of course she did like to sample guys like she was in the world’s biggest clothes shop and she was permanently inside the changing room. But that was neither here nor there. She threw her head back and laughed at Jasper’s question, eyeing his brother as she straightened her head again. “Well...I’m sure I can think of something...” She said teasingly, winking at Jasper but only glancing briefly at Jameson. Twins. She looked at Erin and smiled. One for her, one for Erin. This was shaping up to be a very good birthday. She drank some more before waving her hand at the server. “Barkeep! Please sir, I would like some more!” Oh yeah she was getting smashed.
