Came across a place in the middle of nowhere
Who: Antonin and Nikita
Where: Some old, unused store
When: Evening?
After a day of resting, not that Antonin was quite sure seeing the cousin who wanted him dead faster counted as rest, Antonin was more than ready to go back out and see what the department wanted him to do. Unfortunately the vampire attacks had died down. Yeah, unfortunately. While Antonin didn't exactly approve of vampires going haywire it didn't bother him too much either. Proved that it was a good idea to have someone like him around. But at least it had happened so his superiors were taking him a little more seriously, assigning him to a roaming duty that night instead of staying in the station to do paperwork. Even better was the fact that his partner was completely new so when Antonin told her to go get them coffee and donuts she took off in the cruiser with hardly a question, leaving him to stroll the mostly abandoned streets in peace.
He wasn't expecting anything to happen. Simple shift with maybe some kids breaking curfew but that was it. Vampires had started lying low thanks to whichever crazy had gone off killing so he wasn't really - wait. It was the thoughts that he heard that caught Antonin's interest before the sound of footsteps. He automatically slipped into the shadows of a nearby building, hands in his pocket as he narrowed his eyes and stretched out his thoughts to listen in. Definitely vampires, talking about some sort of a meet... a drop? An exchange? He understood the basic ideas behind the thoughts but the words that were being thought escaped him a little, like they were in a different language. Because they are in a different language. Geez, Antonin, pay attention. Here he had thought the night was going to be dull. Vampires operating secretively thinking about drops or whatever that weren't legal, well now, that wasn't dull at all.
That was actually just the sort of thing to make the night interesting and without much thought (he didn't tend to think these things through all the way) he padded along after them, pausing at the door they had closed and cracking it just a little, listening with his ears and his mind.
