so in i jumped and down i swam
Who: Corentin and Melia
When: Early afternoon.
Where: Redleaf Lake.
Corentin's definition of exploring Scarlet Oak didn't actually involve talking to anyone--not that he could, when he was stuck in this clumsy soundless body, but if he'd wanted to, he could have interacted with the local humans and figured out how to ask them questions about their confusing technology.
He hadn't wanted to. He'd kept to the less populated areas today, walking along back roads and winding his way through the woods, examining all the flora and fauna that couldn't be found underwater. The last time he'd tried to explore a forest like this, it had been 1934, somewhere in Canada, and the trees had been too dense for him to get anywhere. He wasn't complaining about the relative sparseness of this forest, but he had the feeling it was due to human influence.
He'd been making his way toward the sound of running water, and he could see the edge of the lake now. Approaching from this direction, there was nobody else in sight--just as he preferred it. He shed his clothes on the bank and waded into the water, slipping into merform again with a sigh of relief. Six hours as a human was far too long for comfort.
