Who: Anastasia Dubois
Where: Rogue Desires
When: Saturday, June 20th 2009 - 3 am.
He'd missed her.
Good.
If he hadn't, she would've taken the next flight back to Alberta, even if it was only to teach him a lesson. Of course, the lesson would've blown up in her face because after just one night with him, she knew she could never leave again. Just laying there in bed, she couldn't bear to look away. She wanted to memorize every single pore, every strand of hair, to remind herself over and over again that this wasn't a dream; it was reality, and it was hers. She was back with the only man she'd ever loved and damn if she was ever letting that go again.
There was no lack of passion in their love making, and for that, she was smug and ridiculously pleased at. It was the one thing that she'd never worried about, and it was nice to know her confidence wasn't misplaced. Their evening had passed far too quickly, and before too long it was time to rest, and then time for him to work, leaving her alone with her thoughts. She could've demanded to go and be with him, but where would that leave her? Off the side, just watching him do his work.
Not likely.
Nor was she about to just stay at the house and play the perfect little wife. She wasn't about to clean, and she certainly wasn't about to do anything that would require actual effort. What else was there to do in the house other than boring tasks like laundry or cleaning windows? Both prospects brought a cold shiver to her body.
Instead, she took the opportunity to walk around, see how Scarlet Oak had changed since her last visit. It was still quaint, still rustic, still ridiculously small, and she had to suppress a shudder. It was beyond comprehensible to her why such a wordly man would want to settle in such a town when there was other, more lucrative places. London. Milan. Tokyo. Paris. There were enough vampires there to keep him busy, but no, he wanted some small town in Michigan. Disgusting.
Walking around town, it was just as depressing. Nothing looked up to her standards, and the townsfolk were just pathetic. She was just about to lose hope in anything decent when she accidentally walked on a small building with a 'For Rent' sign on it. Peering into the darkened window curiously, she found herself entering, not even caring she was committing a crime. Turning on the lights, she smiled for the first time since leaving Nathaniel's side that morning (evening?).
It was dark. It was dreary. It was disgustingly depressing.
It was perfect.
Noting the number, she turned and left. She'd found Rogue Desires. Maybe she would have more of a reason to stay other than Nathaniel.
Maybe.
