we celebrate the end
Who: Kavanagh Family
Where: Arwen's house
When: Late afternoon
Emilia had had a very good few days. The entire previous day she had spent at home with Nysa without feeling even a twinge of guilt. An entire day had gone by without one thing breaking or shattering and that did not seem surprising to Emilia. Yes, there had been a moment when furniture in the bedroom had been moving a little, but Emilia had a strong feeling that was typical. Like it was typical that she could respond to Nysa's thoughts before the blonde spoke them. Like there was nothing wrong with that. Nysa did not seem to mind. Neither did the children when she picked them up from their grandparents; though they were only children and they would have been fine with believing her if she said that the sky were red and the grass purple. But this ability was not always faultless - Emilia could not hear everything everyone said and sometimes it was like she heard a flat, buzzing noise instead. As though something were trying to block her out. That it might be her own subconscious doing what it had always done never once occurred to her.
"Where we going?" Alexander piped up from the backseat, stopping his near-constant stream of babble about what they had been doing with grandma and grandpa. "Home's not this way."
Smiling up at the rearview mirror, Emilia shook her head. "No it's not. We're going to go over to aunt Arwen's for a bit. Is that okay?" The resounding noise told her that yes, it was absolutely okay. Not that she had expected anything else; they had always loved visiting their aunts and they loved Arwen's even more now that their grandmother was there and so was a horse. Emilia was still completely confused on how Arwen was keeping a horse, but she could see it as she drove up so clearly she was managing just fine. Rose could see the horse and was making excited noises along with a clear 'horsie!' Her excited wriggling made it difficult, but Emilia managed to wrestle her out of the carseat before unclicking Alexander's so that he could go darting up to the door. "This is why I should've brought Nysa with me," Emilia informed a giggling Rose. "She could've kept a rein on your brother." But not everyone finished with work at exactly the same time and she had texted her to say where she was. She knew she was welcome to join them.
Emilia made it to the door at about the time it opened, thanks to Alexander having knocked until someone did come. "Hi mom." Emilia shifted Rose to one hip so that she could lean in and hug Emily properly, smiling when she pulled back. There was no hesitation in the movement, no thoughts spared for any bitter feelings that might have existed because there were none. This was just her mom and of course Emilia loved her. "Arwen and Desi around?" She felt like there was supposed to be a third name, but it did not bother her like it probably should have. "Desi thought we should have a party celebrating my failed marriage."
