rise moon, rise
Who: Emily and Gia
When: Little before moonrise
Where: Gia's apartment
Gia loved -- no adored -- the full moon and it'd been that way for as long as she could remember. Even when she was just turning into a silly little caterpillar instead of the beautiful butterfly that she now was it'd been a thrill. True, the world changed greatly and she spent most of it crawling between plants in her apartment since it wasn't safe outside, but it'd been unique. How many people in the world could claim that they knew what most plants tasted like because they'd eaten them in their smaller form? Better yet; how many knew what it was like to fly on paper-thin wings and taste nectar from flowers? Gia hadn't met any were-butterflies except for her brother so she knew the numbers were small. Some people might feel alone because of that, but not her. Oh no, she loved it.
She loved it even more on nights like tonight when Emily was with her. Leaning around the sketchpad she'd had propped on her lap, Gia flashed a smile at the dark-haired woman. Personally she thought that Emily looked stunning in her apartment and was the true reason why so many of her potted plants, mostly flowers, thrived as well as they did. Gia hadn't ever been known for having a green thumb (really she just had a terrible habit of forgetting that they needed to be watered and switched from pot to pot as they grew bigger) so having a friend who was an earth elemental and could help her when she forgot or fix the plants when she really forgot was a blessing. "I think I'm finished!" she chirped, rising gracefully to drop down on the arm of the chair Emily was in, pad in front of her. It was a drawing of Emily -- with butterfly wings. They weren't blue like her own, but colored more like those of a monarch. She thought that they suited her quite well. "You would be a beautiful butterfly, songbird." Not that Gia would ever dream of trying to turn her, heaven's no! To begin with it'd be a terrible mess and to end with, Emily was perfect as she was and didn't need to go through the hell that was a bitten were's life. Gia had heard the stories.
"There wasn't anything else that you needed to do tonight that I'm keeping you from, was there?" An idle speculation offered as she tucked back a piece of dark hair. "It can't always be interesting to watch a butterfly."
