Though the sun had yet to really come out and dry the ground, Lida needed to get her children out of the house. Annabelle was home from school because the guardian would be damned if she'd let something happen to her eldest child. Just because whatever was happening at the high school seemed to be isolated to that building alone didn't mean that something could go wrong over at the elementary school. And yet, at home there was nothing for them to do but let their minds rot in front of the television. Despite the fact that it looked as though it might rain again, she made sure the kids were psyched about going out before dinner. Annabelle beamed as she grabbed their jackets while Toby snagged their rain boots -- just in case.
Before venturing out into the daylight, Lida always made sure to be well fed. Procuring high level earth elemental blood wasn't exactly cheap and she noticed that her stores were running lower than ought to be. It had been days since she'd last fed off of anything higher than a six and that was what she ingested before walking out of her house. The familiar rush of strength that returned to her seemed almost diluted with the sun in the sky; the world always seemed as though she were experiencing it through a thick gauze. Her vision wasn't as sharp, her senses of smell and hearing were cloudy and muffled, and she moved as though the air around her was gelatin.
This was the environment she endured to delight her children. Of course, it wasn't all just for Toby and Annabelle. Being outside was just as much for her as it was for them because even diluted or muffled, any time that she was with Earth the better. What she didn't expect was the lingering pain and nausea she felt from the digging that was done the previous day. Had she been running high with a Master's blood, she would have come out and destroyed the humans responsible. What did it matter if a bunch of teenagers were trapped inside of the building? Their lives were not worth cutting into the earth. The desire to snap the neck of every person gathered around the high school was still boiling just beneath the surface. Lida tried to ignore it as she watched Annabelle and Toby play pretend near a picnic table not too far away.
The park was far from empty though it wasn't as crowded as in the summer months. She inhaled deeply, not out of necessity of course, but to cool her nerves. The breath brought a scent to her nostrils -- a familiar scent. Judging by her weakened senses and how strong the scent was, it was clear that she was not alone on this side of the park. She turned, her earrings bouncing against the flesh under her ears, and she spotted the culprit.
"I find the odds of you just happening by me and my children are more out of sheer stupidity than coincidence," she snarled at Jackson. Decorum was long since forgotten with her element in distress, nevermind the fact that the time of day was not on her side.
