To say that he hadn't expected what happened after his blow connected would have been an understatement, but then again there had been a part of him that hadn't expected his fist to make contact. She was a vampire, after all, much stronger and faster than she appeared. But then it was daytime, the sun was still up, even if it was getting late and it would start creeping down towards the horizon soon enough. When his blow connected and he saw her head whip to one side like that, her hand lifting to her struck temple, he didn't allow any hint of satisfaction to touch his face because surprised as he was he certainly wasn't anything close to satisfied. After what she had done to Troy she deserved so much worse, and if there was any justice to be had he would do more than land that single strike. If there was any sense of fairness or decency left in the world he would do more damage before they were done here.
That was when she slammed into him, throwing her whole weight into him, her shoulder driving him enough for his balance to falter and then they were crashing down to the ground. She had the advantage, coming down on top of him, but Jackson was a fighter. A survivor. He wasn't going to let her keep that -- very literal -- upper hand for long, even as she raked at his face. Managing to turn his head enough to keep her from catching his eyes he felt her nails claws down one side of his face, catching at his temple and his cheek, almost reaching his jaw before he gave a rough, guttural yell and bucked his hips to throw her over and onto the ground instead.
She didn't care about any onlookers they might attract and neither did he, already bringing one arm back to throw another strike towards her face before they were finished moving, before he could tell whether or not his buck and rock of his body weight had worked enough to switch their positions. Jackson just wanted to hit her, again and again and again, until she understood that he would not hesitate to tear her apart for threatening the people he cared about.
