i just wish that i could heal the hurt you feel inside
Who: Jadyn and Rina
Where: Seaside Designs
When: Early afternoon
To say that Rina knew where all of those who fell under her patronage worked would be inaccurate since she did not know who all of them were; but those that she did know... well, the angel made a habit of knowing where they might be. How else was she supposed to take care of them and make sure that she was doing her best if she did not know where they were? It had been awhile, over a month, since Rina had checked in with one of the first charges she had stumbled across in Scarlet Oak. She had met Jadyn Cole at Aeaea, having felt a tug inside that had the familiar ring of 'she is one of mine', but she knew that the water elemental worked at a place called Seaside Designs as well. And it was there that Rina was going this rainy afternoon. She had not ignored Jadyn, oh no, far from it! She had just been distracted by others and she had not wanted to interfere with her life so she had just done little walk-by's to ensure that the elemental was indeed there and alive. 'Alive and well' was more than Rina hoped for with all of her charges, but if she touched base with Jadyn and found that she was indeed doing well then she would feel a little lift. Her patronage was not full of those who ever grew better and moved on, but they could improve.
'I want to say hi to the lobster again,' Trouble shared from her perch on Rina's shoulder, safe under the umbrella. 'Do you think that maybe this time he'll let me have a ride?'
"Trouble, I don't think you should be asking for rides from all the familiars you meet who are larger than you."
'Caelia's familiar didn't mind!'
"Bubbler is a lobster... can you breathe underwater?"
'No...'
"Should you risk spending a long amount of time under there just for a ride?"
'...you're taking all the fun out of this, you know that? I bet Darklis would think it was a great idea.' Rina shrugged the shoulder that Trouble was seated on, causing the small cat to dig her claws into the dress she had borrowed today. 'It'd make Jadyn smile, I bet!' One of the things that both of them definitely remembered from their last visit was that Jadyn was not very prone to smiling. In fact, she had cried and Rina had only just met her. 'Your mind says that happens a lot with your charges.' Rina could not deny this as fact, because it was. Some of them cried too much, but she thought that she preferred that to the ones who did not cry or smile or laugh at all. Any emotion was better than none. 'Think she'll remember us?' Trouble's question came as Rina opened the door to the store and stepped inside, shaking the umbrella out before folding it up so that she not bring a trail of warm rain water in with her. Not that Jadyn would likely mind since she was a water elemental... basic politeness.
Rina nodded as she glanced around. "They always remember me, even if they don't call for me." Setting the umbrella a little next to the door, sure that no one would take it because this did not seem like the busiest store and why would they, she stepped further in and went up on her toes to look around until she spotted a mess of dark hair. A smile broke out on her face and then it faltered as she stepped closer and Jadyn's feelings washed over her. Oh, she needed me sooner. Guilt twined in with what Jadyn was feeling and jabbed at her heart. Trouble needed to rub against her face and purr to get her moving again. "Hello Jadyn," she greeted quietly, her accent shining through more thanks to the emotions swirling all through her
mind. "I'm sorry that I haven't checked in with you again sooner... are you alright?" No, no you are not. What happened? Jadyn felt so sad... much sadder than she had the last time Rina saw her.
