"Two little demons sitting in a pew..."
Who: Briony and Bubbles
When: Morning
Where: Amazing Grace church
Warning: Potentially disturbing content of the demon-caused variety.
When was the last time Bubbles had gone to church? Never. Unless people wanted to count that one movie and she didn't because it wasn't a real church. It was just some set and it didn't count because not-real churches didn't hurt. Bubbles could prance about in one of those for all the live-long day if she so pleased and wouldn't feel any worse for it. She'd know because she'd done it for the amusement it gave her. But real churches were one of those places Bubbles just didn't like. They hurt and why should she go there? She didn't need to attend funerals or communions and her family never managed to drag her to get baptized. Once she joined them they didn't go to church at all. People seriously underestimated what a girl like her was capable of.
People didn't know what she was. By the time that they did... it was too late for them. Probably just like it'd been too late for Briony's sister whatever-her-name-had-been once she'd fed her to the demons. Bubbles had seen that on the news while she was eating her Fruit Loops and she'd nearly choked on one laughing. Then it'd just been known that she was going to church. She'd pulled on her nice dress, combed out her curls -- there was still some blood from Cujo the other night and she wondered if Amanda was going to cry wolf yet -- found her nice, shiny black Mary Janes and now she was seated in a pew with Briony. At the church that wasn't really a church because there were so many demons! Bubbles wasn't sure if she'd ever seen this many of them in one place if they weren't legionnaires swarming for this or that reason of 'time to feed'. These weren't legionnaires. These were real demons.
Bubbles had been standing up on the pew to get a better look around, deliberately ignoring the cough from the woman in the row behind and the mutters about the 'darling child who needed to be kept under control', when she finally got what she thought was an accurate count. "At least seven," she shared with Briony, who probably already knew that since she came here more. Flashing a dimpled smile at the woman before she 'accidentally' flipped only her middle finger up, Bubbles dropped back down with a giggle. "So did she cry? Scream?" Bubbles wriggled around in her seat and tugged at a ruffle on her skirt. "Are you terribly upset and just never, ever going to be the same?" Her voice was a stage-whisper, but Bubbles doubted people were really listening. Most of them seemed a little distracted, kind of like they were waiting for someone. Bubbles didn't like that feeling; she preferred the little chills racing up and down her spine because she was next to Briony.
