Damon didn't like Brooke going out alone, but she was fed up of being kept cooped up inside that house. It was so warm out and Brooke was going stir crazy. She decided that it surely couldn't hurt if she popped out for an hour or two of shopping. Bad things didn't happen to people when they were buying clothes, right?
Once she got to the stores, she realised just how bored she'd been before. Getting out and trying on all the lovely, pretty clothes was such a refreshing break from life in a house full of vampires. When she ventured into a coffee shop, a few hours after having first gone out, hoping to get a coffee, something to eat and somewhere to rest her feet, she was almost surprised not to see bloodbags beside the paninis in the chiller cabinet. She decided she was getting far too used to all of the blood and gore connected with dating a vampire, although she wouldn't give him up for the world. She just needed to insist on a little break, a day to herself, every now and then.
She'd whiled away another couple of hours in the coffee shop, flicking through some of the fashion magazines she'd bought while she drunk her coffee and ate her greek salad. By the time she looked up again, she noticed that the sky had turned dark outside the coffee shop window. She immediately felt bad for being out so long without giving word. She knew Damon was going to be irritated when he found the little note she'd left by way of explanation of where she was. He worried so much about her, but she supposed that was because he knew all too well how dangerous the world and the people in it could be. Picking up her bags and leaving a tip on the table for the waiter, Brooke headed out into the street and began the walk home, glad she'd been sensible and worn flat pumps instead of high heels.
