WHO Contessa & Elijah (~ilja & ~originaltessa) WHERE #107 WHEN Mid-day, after this WHAT Reunion RATING PG STATUS In Progress
Elijah wore a deeply morose expression and for more than one reason. This place... It reeked of fear and uncertainty and bewilderment. But to an immortal, it was nigh more than an inconvenience. Barely a hiccup in the chart of lifetimes before and after today. They were patient creatures and they would wait it out, as they had waited for centuries.
No, his heaviest burden was one that was fundamentally inescapable, unlike a question of where, or when. Must duty come before all else? Even before family? There were different types of duties, but if there should be a conflict of interest? Must one bow to duty owed to family or to conscience?
But the truth was that he had already turned his back on family, once, already. His love for his family knew no bound; but Niklaus had needed him more, and he, too, was family all the same to him. The family had each other, but Klaus had no one. No one, but him. So they left, quietly into the night, indifferent to his father's implacable fury.
He would do it again, in a heartbeat. Even knowing the outcome, even knowing what Klaus would become, he was still his brother and in every way worth trying to save. Now, though, Klaus must be stopped, and it was the least he could do to ensure that they were his hands that did it. His brother deserved that, at least.
"Tess," he said when the door was answered, his face instantly lighting up. "You look lovely." He moved in for an embrace. Typical of most brothers, he was protective of all his siblings, but none perhaps more so than Tessa. It was not that she was ineffectual at tending to her own affairs, far from it, but that she was easily the most solitary of the family, after Klaus. She had always been precocious with a quiet, secretive demeanour that kept her withdrawn from all but himself and Risa, and for that, he had a bit of a soft spot when it came to her.
