Contessa couldn't say that she was disappointed that the doppelganger escaped. Not so much because she cared about the young lady--she didn't care much for human life, and especially that of one she didn't know--but because she was strongly against the ritual taking place. However, when Contessa heard him mention another and that the ritual would happen, she shook her head, but didn't say anything.
When asked why she hated him, Contessa thought that much was obvious. She had always been a daddy's girl, or at least when she wasn't spending time with Elijah or Amorisa. But maybe it wasn't so clear. "Because if I had ever tolerated a suitor enough to marry one of them, I would have remained faithful," she answered simply.
