Who Westly and open
What Who knows :)
Where Outside
Rating TBD

Westly loved the fall, actually, and most people didn't know that. He enjoyed being outside and he enjoyed lounging about in the afternoon. He usually did this by himself of course, although sometimes he liked to have company. Most of his schoolmates were down right imbeciles, but thankfully there were a few that seemed to be mentally capable of constructing an eloquent sentence or two. Merlin forbid that someone was actually intelligent, or anything.

Sitting down on the grass, his back against the tree, Westly opened his book. It was some novel, although Westly wasn't sure if he'd like it or not. It didn't really matter though, because he was going to read it anyway.

Westly didn't normally smile around his peers, seeing as how they were all complete imbeciles, but he could stand Elena. "Yes, of course. It's better than what the majority of our school body does," he said with a smirk, rolling his eyes. "They prefer to eat incessantly and then proceed to do absolutely nothing with themselves. I commend you for running," Westly smirked.

He held up the book. "Ah, it is interesting, although I'm not so sure if it's 'good'." he said, shrugging indifferently. "I have nothing else to do anyways, so I figure, why not?"

Elena would never be comfortable talking about weight with people, even when she was not the topic of discussion. Having been teased so much when she was younger, she had grown up to be very sensitive about her weight. Her hands automatically drew up to huge herself, covering her stomach, which was considerably smaller than it was back in first year, as she offered a weak smile. Elena was a cook. She didn't go out of her way to eat a lot, but you did have to taste everything. "Well, thanks, I suppose."

She nodded in response to his answer. She couldn't really remark on it as she hadn't read it. So instead she blurted out the one thing she had been determined not to talk about. "So you're going to the ball with Sage, right?"

Of course Westly didn't mean to imply anything about Elena's weight. He didn't really look at her as more than a friend, or Sage's younger sister, so he wasn't critical of her. And even if he was, he thought that he was a very pretty young woman. She was exercising, and that in itself was an attractive quality. But again, Westly was oblivious to everything running through Elena's mind. "No problem," he replied, shifting to let his arm rest limply over his knee.

He hadn't been expecting Elena to ask that, but he wasn't going to not answer her. "You could say that," he chuckled, rolling his eyes. "Even if he had to talk me into it." Westly smirked, remembering the conversation quite well.

Elena hesitated slightly at Westley's answer. He hadn't seemed too terribly eager to go with Sage, so perhaps that meant their relationship was more platonic than she had previously thought. That, or it was considerably less than she had believed. Knowing Sage's type of relationships, Westley could have been "talked into" something in any number of ways, the larger number of which she preferred not to picture either her brother or Westley participating in.

"You didn't want to go?" she asked, doing her best to brush her previous thoughts aside, though it was a rather difficult picture to forget. "Not a big dancer?"

Westly viewed his and Sage's relationship as purely platonic. Of course that didn't stop them from fooling around occasionally, but it didn't mean anything more than it was; a casual hook-up and nothing more. Of course they had only followed through with someone once, but Westly had a feeling that there would be a lot more dancing on the 31st after the ball was over. And he didn't really care either way.

"I dislike dances in general, I suppose," he sighed. "Although I probably should go. To satisfy appearances and such," Westly commented, nodding. "Have you found a date?"

"Appearances?" she asked curiously. What sort of apperance was he trying to maintain that required being seen at the ball? As far as she knew, Westley had never been particularly concerned with being deemed a socialite.

Blushing slightly at his question, Elena shook her head. "No, I haven't. I imagine I'll just end up going by myself." Besides, what sort of costume could match a bumblebee? Ladybugs weren't exactly manly. "It's not such a big deal, though my brother seems to think so."

Elena wished she had more experience with boys. Some girls made fliritng look so effortless! They just batted their eyes and tossed their hair and the poor blokes were at their feet. Elena, well, she'd had one boyfriend in her life, and he hadn't been much of one, so as far as wooing Westley was concerned, Elena already knew she was destined for failure, even if he hadn't been going to the ball with her brother.

Westly nodded, although it wasn't exactly like he wanted to explain what he meant. Regardless, he would. "Yes, appearances. It would just be best if I was seen socializing with the rest of our class," he said, waving his hand, "even if I don't necessarily want to."

He didn't notice the blush that rose to Elena's cheek, only the disappointed tone when she talked. "Ah, Sage thinks otherwise?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. "And what does he have to say about the matter?" Westly chuckled, knowing that Sage was probably trying to force her to go with someone.

Westly wasn't a big flirt. He only flirted with someone if he was truly and largely attracted, since he chose his lovers very specifically. Most of said lovers happened to be older than him, of course there were the rare exceptions.

"Oh," she answered with a small smile. "Yes, I suppose that makes sense." It had occurred briefly to Elena that she could simply not attend the ball, but as soon as she had thought of it, she realized there was no way Sage would accept it. He would be dragging her bumblebee arse into the ball by the stinger.

It was nice to talk to someone who enjoyed her brother's presence rather than detesting it. She wished more people understood him like Westley did. "Well, I was idiotic enough to let it slip I wanted to go with someone who already had a date, and he's been prodding to find out who ever since." She let out a weak laugh. "I guess Sage doesn't exactly understand the concept of not being able to get a date, does he?" It wasn't easy, knowing your brother bagged more blokse than you did, especially when so many of them were so darned good-looking.
