Who Westly and open
What Who knows :)
Where Outside
Rating TBD

Westly loved the fall, actually, and most people didn't know that. He enjoyed being outside and he enjoyed lounging about in the afternoon. He usually did this by himself of course, although sometimes he liked to have company. Most of his schoolmates were down right imbeciles, but thankfully there were a few that seemed to be mentally capable of constructing an eloquent sentence or two. Merlin forbid that someone was actually intelligent, or anything.

Sitting down on the grass, his back against the tree, Westly opened his book. It was some novel, although Westly wasn't sure if he'd like it or not. It didn't really matter though, because he was going to read it anyway.

"Appearances?" she asked curiously. What sort of apperance was he trying to maintain that required being seen at the ball? As far as she knew, Westley had never been particularly concerned with being deemed a socialite.

Blushing slightly at his question, Elena shook her head. "No, I haven't. I imagine I'll just end up going by myself." Besides, what sort of costume could match a bumblebee? Ladybugs weren't exactly manly. "It's not such a big deal, though my brother seems to think so."

Elena wished she had more experience with boys. Some girls made fliritng look so effortless! They just batted their eyes and tossed their hair and the poor blokes were at their feet. Elena, well, she'd had one boyfriend in her life, and he hadn't been much of one, so as far as wooing Westley was concerned, Elena already knew she was destined for failure, even if he hadn't been going to the ball with her brother.

Westly nodded, although it wasn't exactly like he wanted to explain what he meant. Regardless, he would. "Yes, appearances. It would just be best if I was seen socializing with the rest of our class," he said, waving his hand, "even if I don't necessarily want to."

He didn't notice the blush that rose to Elena's cheek, only the disappointed tone when she talked. "Ah, Sage thinks otherwise?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. "And what does he have to say about the matter?" Westly chuckled, knowing that Sage was probably trying to force her to go with someone.

Westly wasn't a big flirt. He only flirted with someone if he was truly and largely attracted, since he chose his lovers very specifically. Most of said lovers happened to be older than him, of course there were the rare exceptions.

"Oh," she answered with a small smile. "Yes, I suppose that makes sense." It had occurred briefly to Elena that she could simply not attend the ball, but as soon as she had thought of it, she realized there was no way Sage would accept it. He would be dragging her bumblebee arse into the ball by the stinger.

It was nice to talk to someone who enjoyed her brother's presence rather than detesting it. She wished more people understood him like Westley did. "Well, I was idiotic enough to let it slip I wanted to go with someone who already had a date, and he's been prodding to find out who ever since." She let out a weak laugh. "I guess Sage doesn't exactly understand the concept of not being able to get a date, does he?" It wasn't easy, knowing your brother bagged more blokse than you did, especially when so many of them were so darned good-looking.
