WHO. Everyone~!
WHAT. P AR TAY.
WHERE. Room of Requirement.
WHEN. Backdated to Friday. Night time.
RATING. TBA. Nothing too high though, alright?
STATUS. Open~

The Room of Requirements was a blessing. Nymphadora had spent days trying to locate the infamous room, searching the halls for what seemed like the only ideal place in the castle where one can have an event such as the one she'd been planning for her sibling. She'd taken note of a few abandoned duelling rooms and old libraries, just in case her search came out unfruitful. But at the very last second, the toom finally showed itself to her.

It was better than the stories his father had told her once about it. Not only did Dora not need to decorate the room herself, but it seemed the food was taken care of, too. As if the Castle was rejoicing for their return, and wanted them to celebrate coming back the proper way. Dora was only too eager to oblige.

The room was dark but for the lit candles with different colored flames of red purple and deep orange scattered about the room, gently illuminating the small space. Modest sitting areas were scattered about the area, a long table with food and drinks stood on both sides of the room. The center of the room was of course reserved for dancing, with a small stage and operational DJ booth. It was perfect, Dora thought as her eyes scanned the room.

By nightfall, it was time to party.

Phoenix looked up with a start at the voice that suddenly reached his ears. He stood straighter and locked his hands behind him as he came face to face with Kendra. Though she'd greeted him, she didn't appear to him as if she was glad to see him. "Is everything alright?" he asked quietly, taking a step towards her. "You don't seem to be in high spirits, when I think you should. This is your party, isn't it?"

"I'm fine," she lied, forcing a smile. "It's not really my party anyway." She glanced over at the doors, wondering how insane she would look if she just made a mad dash for them instead of dragging out a painful conversation he probably didn't even want to be having. "It's a surprise party for Addy." She shifted uneasily in her dress, before blurting out suddenly. "You don't have to be here, you know. If you don't want to be. I didn't mean to make you feel like you had to."

Phoenix's eyes widened at her sudden outburst; he didn't understand why she was so worked up. And it ws evident in the way she couldn't seem to meet his gaze that there was something wrong, something she apparently didn't see fit to tell him. Coudl he have done something to offend her and not know it? Should he be surprised? The same just happened to Dominique...

His eyes narrowed as a thought suddenly occured to him, though he refused to believe it had to do with anything. "What are you trying to do?" he asked her. "Are... you trying to make me leave?"

It was frustrating, trying not to let on to someone that you had just seen and overheard what was undoubtedly supposed to be a private conversation, but being unable to ignore what was said in that conversation. Well, you couldn't have your cake and eat it, too.

"Please don't act as if you weren't going to anyway," she muttered, still not meeting his eyes. "I heard what you said to her." And, of course, she was upset with him because of that and not because of the emotions he still held for Miss Weasley. Obviously. Yes. Obviously.

Phoenix's suspicions were confirmed. She was there when he and Dominique talked, and she'd heard his plans of leaving. Her voice was so faint he had to strain to hear, and he felt a small pang of guilt in his chest. "If I could, don't you think I already would have?" he asked her, challenging her to answer him. "Is that what has left you upset?" Shouldn't he be offended that she'd chosen to listen to a conversation that did not include her? In his mind, he did, but chose to held his tongue.

A pause. "Do you want me to go?" If she said no, it might just be the push he needed to turn and walk the other way.

Kendra didn't particularly know what to say at this point. To say she was uspet he'd been fawning over his former love would mean admitting she cared for him. Admittedly, she hadn't exactly been hiding that fact, but to say it outright after seeing his affections for someone else was rather mortifying. So she didn't answer him but instead stood awkwardly before him, both head and heart racing.

"No," she answered with embarrassing haste to his next question, her gaze finally lifting up to look at him, but only for a moment, before focusing on her shoes again. "I don't... and I'm sure... Dominique doesn't want you to either." And it was extremely difficult to keep the grimace off of her face as she said such things.

Phoenix sighed, feeling rather tired when the night hadn't even started. Reaching inside one of his robe pockets, he drew out a small pouch, inside it rested a charm bracelet. "I couldn't leave until I greeted you properly." he reached the small bag out to her, eyes never leaving her face. "It's late, I know. But happy birtday."

Kendra hesitated as he reached into his robe, caught off guard by his offering of a gift. She had assumed he wouldn't have gotten her anything, and she hadn't been expecting anything, either. "You didn't have to get me anything," she murmured, expression softening considerably before she carefully took the bag and withdrew the bracelet. "Phoenix, it's lovely." Her finger traced the curves of one of the flower charms. "Thank you." Her first instinct was to hug him in exchange for the gift, but she caught herself halfway, remembering how tense he had been the first time. "Right. You don't... like that kind of thing," she said with a small, nervous laugh. She wondered if he had ever hugged Dominique, if he would today if he got the chance... But that was a silly train of thought, and she quickly brushed it aside.

He watched silently as she took the bag he offered, pry it open carefully with her fingers before she took out the bracelet in her hands, a white gold charm of moon, stars and flower- all three seemingly fitted her. "You're welcome." he told her, and saw her hesitate in giving him a hug. She was cautious around him now, a barrier in between them. Surely, he hadn't put it there, so despite how much he wanted it gone, he couldn't take it out. "Yes, that's true." he said, smiling a little. Reaching out to her, the tips of Phin's fingers brushed against her cheeks, down her jawline to her chin to lift her head up to look at him, before he drew them back. "I can handle the light, little contacts though." he said.

He stood there for a moment, just looking at her, contented in this small pleasure. "Are you still mad at me?" he asked.

Kendra felt her cheeks heat up as his fingertips traced her skin. His touch left an electric trail across her cheek, and she might have melted into nothing but a mere puddle had she been slightly less composed.

She kept her chin up where he had placed it, looking up at him with a sheepish smile. "No," she assured him. "I wasn't... mad to begin with." She glanced down at the bracelet. "Will you help me put it on?"

A nod. Careful hands took the bracelet in her palm and locked it in place around her slender wrist. Fingers brushed the moon charm over her skin before he released her. "It looks good." he said with much truthfulness, the thickness of the chain and the right number of charms seemed to suit her perfectly. "Looks good." he said, glad for the fact that she said she wasn't angry with him. Normally, he wouldn't have cared much if it was someone else who was mad at him, but it was Kendra. In the small span of time he'd known her, she'd evolved into something more than just someone he knew in passing. Dare he say, he cared or her in some way... "Are you sure you like it?"

Kendra couldn't help but laugh softly, despite the butterflies from the gentle caresses of his fingers. "Yes, Phoenix. I'm sure I like it." She hesitated for a moment, before stretching up to press a gentle kiss to his cheek. Light, little contacts, right? She'd been wanting to do that (and admittedly a bit more) for a while now, and she supposed after seeing he and Dominique together, she was feeling like it was a bit of a now or never sort of thing. "Thank you for coming. It means a lot."

Phoenix was thrilled to see that she'd appreciated the gift. It took a few hours of browsing through catalogs to find the piece of jewelry that stood out to him, something that fit her just right. At least his efforts did not go to waste.

However, what caught him off guard was when Kendra moved close to him, and placed a light kiss on his cheek. Her lips were warm, and it left his cooler skin burning when she pulled away. His cool gray eyes turned to her, and he allowed himself to smile for her. "You're welcome." he said. "Though I'm afraid I will not be able to take part on the festivities. It's not exactly my crowd in there, and I'm mostly certain I would not be readily welcomed..."

"I know," she said with a soft sigh. "But you should know you would have been welcomed." She would have made sure of that. "I can understand you not feeling... entirely comfortable." The thought of her going to a soiree with his elite pureblood lot wasn't exactly a comfortable one either. Her father had told her plenty of stories about pureblood affairs and most of them seemed so... dull, not that she'd ever tell him that.

Phoenix nodded when she said she understood, glad that they'd reached an impasse. No other words needed to be said, no matters left to resolve. "Then I should take my leave. Thank you for inviting me, and I regret that I can't stay longer than you'd wish me to." he said, stepping towards her and taking her hand his his. "I'm glad you understand." He placed a careful kiss to her palm, one that so quick Kendra would have missed it if she had blinked, before sharply turning and walking towards the other end of the corridor and disappeared into the darkness.
