Labyrinth OOC

Hey, guys. I'm so sorry about this, I've been thinking about the best thing to do, and I didn't want to make any sort of announcement until I had done so. I've been sort of mulling it over, talking to the other mods, and I think I've come to some conclusions. So, here's the deal.

This game, on September 1, has been open for six months, I believe. It's seriously been a blast running it, and I think Ally, Viki, and Jessi would agree with me. But, I have noticed over the last month or so that it seems to be becoming more and more inactive. I've tried to shake it up a bit, but the truth is, I'm going back to school in a few short weeks, and I don't have time to really give this place the restart it needs.

However. I also know how much it sucks to have a place close on you when you have lines that you like, so I am not closing the game. Rather, I'm taking it to a sort of group private storyline, where it isn't really open to new people, but the people here are welcome to stay as long as they like. I will no longer be doing plot things, day changes, activity checks, or anything like that. However, if the people already here have new characters they want to bring in, they can always email the mod journal and I'll add them. Also, if you have friends who want to come in, they're welcome, as well.

Because I'm not doing day change, the game will switch to a real time format. As for the setting of the Illusion City, it will be changing nearly every day, as follows.

Monday - Ren Faire

Tuesday - Educational

Wednesday - Amusement park

Thursday - Board games

Friday - Laser tag

Saturday, Sunday - None. This means everything is fairly dull and drab, but at least there's not weird things going on, right?

Uh, what else. Oh, yes. I am keeping Armand, Bones, Faith, and Legolas, and I'm still open to whatever random threads with all of them. Also, if anyone wants to take over running the game, let me know, and I will hand everything over to you to do with as you wish. You can just email me or respond to this post if you are interested, or if you have any questions/comments.

Obviously, there was no day change yesterday. But keep your eyes open for an announcement later this week about the game!

Okey dokey, so here's the deal. I got some really amazing suggestions from you lovely people about the game, and everyone who posted seemed interested in keeping it open, so I'll just summarize here.

-More advertising

-Some sort of major plot event

-It was pointed out that it's the summer and people are on vacation/just don't feel like being inside in such gorgeous weather.

-Oh, look, more suggestions about advertising!

-Keeping the Incomplete Threads list up to date

-Some sort of group thread

I'm noticing a bit of a trend around the advertising, so I'll get on that. In fact, I think I'll do that after I put this up. Also, a group log and major plot event could go really well, I think. So here's the deal. Day sixteen will be another two week day, which means no day change this Sunday, but the one after. Pretty, pretty please, focus on getting old threads complete. Day Seventeen will be Halloween. Has everybody seen that Buffy episode where they all turn into their Halloween costumes? Well, start thinking about what you want your characters to dress up as/turn in to. This will be done in the format of a group thread, since Jareth thinks that it's been far too long since there's been a ball. So, Halloween ball, mandatory attendance, with people turning into their costumes. Questions? Comments? Post here!

I wanted to just toss this up to let everyone know I am considering what was said, and I will come to some decisions about the direction that the game is going to go fairly soon. Hello, beautiful people!

Okay, so here's the deal. I'm about to go off and do removals and day change and stuff, and I realized just how many people I'd be removing. I thought this would be a good time to let you guys let me know what you think about the game in general. Is it something anyone's even interested in anymore? Don't get me wrong, this isn't me wanting to close the game or anything. As long as there's even a few people who still want to play, I will be keeping this place open. But, at the same time, if life/lack of interest has taken its toll, I'd like to know.

So, this is where I open up the floor to comments/suggestions. Uh, for privacy and so that you can all feel free to speak your mind, I'm screening comments. So, go nuts! I seriously want to hear all of your viewpoints on this.

Alright, so, for your plotting consideration, I bring you Doctor Leonard 'Bones' McCoy, from the 2009 Star Trek Movie canon, not ToS canon. Uh, let's see. He's grumpy, drinks a bit too much, and if you get him in the right mood (drunk) he'll swear like a sailor. However, he is also a humanitarian and a very good doctor. He's still slightly phobic of space, though he's done his best to conquer that. And, of course, he is firmly wrapped around the little finger of his BFF, one James Tiberius Kirk. Although he's now smacking me for using the term 'BFF'.

Anyway, he needs plottiems, plz! He can heal you if you're injured, and, uh, sort of grump at you a lot. And he's going to be pretty weirded out by the giant board games around, and, of course, the completely primitive technology everywhere. I think he'll approve of that, actually.

Hey, everyone! Jen here with her sixth (and probably last) character. It took me awhile to get him in, but there was some issue with finding a PB. However, that's all settled now (*gasp* Jen's using a Karl Urban PB, no way!) So, okay, here goes!

Adam is from the same fandom as Mercy and Stefan, only, well, he's a werewolf. Uh, strong, hates silver, handsome, sort of a neat freak, that sums him up! His profile is mostly done, but not quite finished because I wanted to get him in for day change tomorrow.

It occured to me that having the City of Illusions change, and having the plot thing with the singing as well, might be a bit too much all at once. So, the all singing, all the time, thing will happen on day eight.

As well, just a quick note about tagging. I've noticed many of you are tagging your own threads, and that's great! Please continue to do so! But, as we use the tags to do activity checks, if you could use the same format we do, that would be amazing. Most of you seem to have picked it up already, but in case you haven't, here's how they should be tagged.

Your characters full name (Legolas Greenleaf, not just Legolas)
The name of anyone else that is involved (If tagging to a specific person. If it's an open thread, don't bother with this step until someone else responds to the thread)
The in game day that the thread was posted (Day Seven, or whatever day it is)
And status of the thread (Either active or complete, please remember to change this!)

Hopefully that clears things up. Please don't put any extra information in the tags! And if you don't want to tag your stuff, don't worry! The mods will do it. However, if you do, please use that layout to make things easier for us at activity check time.

Hello, lovelies!

Okay, so here's the deal. I've changed some of the rules. It's always a work in progress. So, because of the growth of the game and such, I'm changing the maximum number of characters a player can have to eight. However, anything over five requires pretty much constant activity from all your characters, so keep that in mind when deciding to go over five, and make sure you can handle it.

I've decided on a day where everyone sings everything, where everything is basically a giant musical. Some characters (Giselle, Legolas) will hardly notice a difference. Is there anyone who strongly objects to this? Let me know before next week, as I will be putting this into place at the next day change. Why, yes, Jareth is a sadistic asshole, why do you ask?

Right, so, lastly, the ball thread. Are people still posting in it? I think I'm going to put a closed/complete tag on it, however, if you wish to continue posting in it, go nuts! I just like to have things all pretty and completed and such.

Oh, I lied. One more thing. A few errors in the various sections of the mod journal have been pointed out to me. If you all could just go through and make sure all your characters have been added right, and all their information is correct, that would be amazing.

As well, the group activities thing didn't get a lot of support. The only thing I really got anything from anyone about was the random pairings stuck together and having to interact thing. Would you all rather stick to large plot things, like the ball? I'm fine with that, I just want to know what you all want.

Hello, everyone!

Alright, so here's the deal. There really are quite a few unfinished threads right now, and I know that, for me, that makes it discouraging to start any new ones. I never want to get too bogged down, you know? So, because of this, we're going to have a two-week long day four. That way, we can hopefully wrap up the ball thread as well as a bunch of other threads. Also, I was going through the incomplete threads list and I noticed that there were a bunch that hadn't been posted in for awhile. Please make sure you're posting regularly, since it isn't fair to make people wait! If you're in a thread and someone hasn't posted for awhile, perhaps talk to them and ask if they forgot.

Okay, so in other news, since the ball plot is almost over, I'm looking at other things to do that could be interesting. One idea is to do group activities, where three people are paired up at random and forced to do an activity. These would not be option, however, if you really wouldn't want your characters to participate in something like that, I'm not going to force you. I'm looking at maybe day six and seven for these, and possibly eight, too. It's still very much in the works.

Long story at least a little shorter, just take this extra time to wrap up your old threads, and also post here with what you think about the group activities thing. As well, in a little bit, I'll probably be changing the look of the City of Illusions. There's a list in the mod journal of options, what do people think?

I'm back! But thread responses may take awhile. I'm sort of slowly sifting through them in my massively sleep deprived state, and I've done a few but not all. I haven't forgotten! I will get through them all, and soon, promise! :-D

So, I'm going to be gone for the weekend. I won't have access to a computer at all, actually. Now, as day change is usually on Sunday, that obviously won't work as well. So, instead of that, I'll do it Monday before work. That will give all y'all a chance to finish up some threads, too, I figure! So it all works out nicely. Don't forget to label threads as complete, too, so Jessi can go through and change the tags from active to complete!

Now, for the masque that will be taking place. It's not optional. Everyone will be there. However, this doesn't mean that you have to post in the group thread, but it does mean you have to assume your character was there. It will be the evening. You have three choices for your character. They can voluntarily go, they can be drawn in by the crystals that Jareth will send out (a la Labyrinth movie), or they can literally be dragged in by Goblins. You're totally free to play it however you want, of course!

Please respect posting orders that have been set, and if a sub-thread has progressed a fair ways, don't jump in without checking with the other people who are involved. All the typical rules and such apply, basically. Um, yeah, so I think that's about it. Any questions?
