Anniversary event time
Finally managing to post this!
Okay, as everybody should know already, on the night of the 31st, we're having a masquerade!
The entire park will be replaced with a massive ballroom, with plenty of room to dance, several small tables lining up the wall, food, masked waiters, etc. You get the idea.
Your characters better not have made any plans, because everybody will be transported there that evening. They'll appear wearing appropiate outfits and masks, and their minds will be slightly messed up- they might find it difficult to remember details about their lives, whether outside or inside of Kiseki, or what their friends are and sound like - and even harder to remember simple things such as their own names. Things that would set people apart, such as their voices, looks and such, will also be difficult for them to process, so they might not really recognize anyone during that time. Despite this state of confusion, they'll all feel inclined to join in the celebration, and dance with others and have a good time. They won't really feel like leaving, although if they even tried to do it, a barrier set around the ballroom would stop them from doing so.
By midnight, the ballroom will change back into being the park again, just in time for everybody to enjoy a display of fireworks! By this time, the confused state will slowly wear off, and people can finally begin to recognize each other.
However, we should all know by now, Kiseki's a giant troll. So around half an hour after midnight, a new event will take place.
The characters will suddenly be transported to one out of five of the smaller islands, split from the ones they're closest to. The trains won't be working, of course (and won't, in general, work until the end of January), and anyone attempting to fly out of the islands will end up meeting a barrier, and being transported back to them.
The islands will be temporarily desert. The hotels' cafeterias will all be accessible, and be full of supplies, and anything fresh will get restored. Although as days advance, the characters should see that any item being replaced is showing up in smaller quantities. Meaning that, eventually, they will run out of food.
So, how do they return to the main island?
A hunt! The TRC crew might be familiar with this, and others might think it's inspired in Easter... The characters need to look for a silver egg, quite similar to the one Sakura found in Tokyo.
This seems simple enough, right? Well, it's not so much. The only time people can look for these mysterious eggs is for an hour after midnight. The eggs can be anywhere around the islands, save for inside the hotels. The eggs will not stay put in one place - they'll move around, so people might need to search the same spots several times. It'll be mostly a matter of luck, really.
And that's not all. Whenever somebody gets close to an area that contains one or more of the eggs, they'll find they're protected, in a way, by something reminiscing of a ghost. They will take the form of somebody the person who's searching cares for deeply - it could be someone who they lost, or who is missing from their lives (Ueda seeing his wife, Sakura seeing Nadeshiko), or simply someone they miss (Fay-sensei seeing Yuui), or someone they wouldn't want to see in such a way (Kamui seeing Kotori, or any of the OTPs seeing their SO like that). It can be someone who's already in the island.
Regardless of what the choice is, the ghosts will look like your typical ghost - they won't be solid, they'll be smokey-white, they'll faintly glow, etc. They'll also act like the one whose appearance they have, so they can smile, cry, look angry, and so on. They won't talk, although it may seem like they're attempting to. And they can try to touch / hug / otherwise interact with your characters. This is all a way to distract them from actually obtaining the egg they're looking for, since if the character spends enough time paying attention to the ghost, the egg will simply relocate itself.
Everybody will find they have a (pink, scented) letter in their hand explaining what they need to search for. The letter will also warn them that "someone they know" will be protecting the eggs, and advise them to search in pairs - and only in pairs, because any group larger than that will not be able to find anything. The 'guardians' will show up for both people if they're together, but it should hopefully be a little easier to handle them that way.
They can search on their own if they prefer it that way, but the eggs will try to hide even more from people who're on their own - although once more and more people leave the smaller islands, there'll be a greater chance for those remaining to find an egg for themselves.
What happens once they do find the egg? They simply need to grab them (if they're in pairs, then each needs to take one), and they'll be instantly transported to the Welcome Center. The main island will be unchanged, save for the trains still not working. The barrier surrounding the smaller islands will prevent anyone in the main one to go search for them, but they can still communicate through the journals.
There is no time limit for this, and while both things are mandatory ICly, it's obviously not mandatory to play it all out. You can simply handwave things and say the character eventually found the egg later on.
Now! I've already decided the splitting up of characters throughout the island, mostly because with the event being so soon, there's no time to be voting and discussing it between ourselves. If you have any objections to the grouping, please let me know and we can try and work something out o/
