text ( open to all )
[ The handwriting is slanted, practiced, fluid and feminine. She does not write much, but she has been taught well. ]

My name is Lady Morgana, ward of King Uther Pendragon of Camelot.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand how I came to be here. The maids who were sent to welcome me were very entertaining, but they seemed unwilling or perhaps unable to answer many of my questions. I fear that something dreadful may have happened - the last thing I remember is going to bed in the palace as normal. Was I taken ill?

The maids could not tell me where Guinevere might be, my own maid; or even Prince Arthur or the King himself. If I am truly able to speak to another by writing in this book, then I hope somebody will answer.

[ Something is written and scratched out, then written again. ]

Is this magic?

Your words humble me, my lady. Thank you. I serve in a highly esteemed household, as it would happen, and it would not do to have the servants taint its reputation... particularly seeing as I am currently its sole representative in this world.

The amount of noble families I have met who could stand to learn such a lesson...

last time, I swear

[He could respond that most noble families are idiots, or that you're of course entitled to treat your servants however you wish... but it's also unbecoming for servants to be too vocal about their opinions around nobles. More neutrally:]

There might be a certain cultural difference at play, perhaps.

You mean my culture has it all wrong.

Don't worry, I agree with you.

[Only in the sense that he thinks it lowers the overall impression of a noble family; he's no Lower Class Rights advocate. Still he gives a slightly abashed smile, as if embarrassed to be called out on it.]

I'm certain a lady showing such concern for her servants is held in high esteem by the staff. [Which sounds like flattery, but his hope is that she'll take it as a roundabout way of saying "thank you for taking my side".]

Oh, I don't know. There isn't much I can do for most of them. But I make sure they're treated well when I can. And when Arthur is king, he'll treat them fairly if I have to force him to.

[ Camelot is surprisingly forward in her world when it comes to the treatment of servants, whatever the reasoning - but there is still more that could be done. ]

Sometimes merely the knowledge of someone being on your side is more than enough to endear them to you. [Not for him, but you know. Other hypothetical servants among whom he sounds conveniently included.

He chuckles a little, good-naturedly.]
It sounds like he might have had reason to consider his stay here something of a vacation. [Until now, that is. Heh.]

It's likely he did. He never could quite stand up to me.

[ Yeah, about that... ]

[Not if many of the stories are to be trusted, no.]

Then I should offer my congratulations on your successful reunion in this land. [Yep, apparently he's all Team Morgana, sorry Arthur.]

And you have my thanks for that, Sebastian.

[ It feels a little odd; she isn't used to servants having more than one name and doesn't quite know which to address him with. It's a guess, more than anything. ]

You're most welcome. [And he apparently thinks nothing of the way she addresses him, so clearly it's acceptable. And/or he'd accept mostly any way of address from a noble.]

My lady, it is bold of me, but may I ask a question?

[Politely bows his head a little as thanks, before continuing:]

You see, I have something of an interest in different cultures, you could say. Would it be possible to, at some point, hear a little more of Camelot? Naturally I would compensate you for the trouble however you see fit.

Oh, of course! I would be glad to tell you whatever you would like to hear. No compensation needed.

If you will meet with me, I will be happy to answer your questions.

[ The idea of writing out everything she knows about Camelot is a little... daunting. ]

You're too kind. It would be my honour to meet in person. Then, please, contact me at your convenience, my lady.

[See, because he's considerate and figures she wants to settle down properly before anything else.]
