RP: Criminals
Characters: Spike, Parker
Time/Date: Late afternoon, August 23
Location: Parker's room (403)
Warnings/Rating: Language, most likely
Summary: Spike and Parker meet for a discussion.
Status: Wrapped Up/Complete

Spike had a strange view of Parker, and it was only becoming stranger now that she'd called him to her room to talk about... something that apparently involved the fact that they were both criminals by technicality. She reminded him a little too much of Julia, to the point that he'd spent most of their raid not looking at her; but, at the same time, she was a competent woman. She was good at what she did and lacked the obnoxious attitude he so hated in women. So he considered her an ally, felt somewhat protective of her, and still tried to keep his distance all the same. Obviously, the latter wasn't working so well. Otherwise, he'd not have agreed to meet her for whatever discussion she had in mind.

When he reached Parker's room, Spike 'knocked' on the door by giving it a light kick. "I hear there's a thief who wants to talk," he said - only as loud as necessary for her to hear him through the door.

"Not behind," he clarified, "she is Radical Edward. And yeah, she named the thing. That's the most normal thing she's ever done." It was a little strange to discover that Ed really did remind Parker of her team's hacker. The parallels between people he knew and people she knew were a little disturbing, really. He'd have expected people to be completely different in her time or world... or both, if that was the case.

"Payback would have been a waste of time," he said. "The ISSP is a fucking joke... but money is money, and very few people give a shit that it's all about who's on which payroll." In fact, Jet was one of the only people he knew who cared. So long as bounties were paid most of the time and there was something to do, Spike couldn't care less that a vast majority of the police were just puppets to crime syndicates. But then... he was biased toward just ignoring criminals unless their heads were worth something.

"She named it! That proves cyber girl is a skooky as I figured she is." but Parker was able to smile at that. "So how did she meet the dish in the first place?" being very curious about that aspect of the tale,"As for Faye would she be like what Sophie is to my team a la a grifter?" she asked.

She nodded,"On jobs I've seen things that could fit that mold." But at the same time she knew the team helped those that really needed the leverage,"Nate simply got fed up with the system since his former bosses basically killed his son by not giving a treatment the ok and well it went from there really." ready to add in more about the team since she had metioned Sophie and Hardison so far.

(OOC: The Second David Job was the payback against Nate's boss and details were dropped through the first season)

"You'd have to ask her," Spike said with a shrug... that didn't exactly end well. He was paying too much attention to the conversation to remember how much of a terrible idea the movement was; it took him a moment to regain composure to speak again. His left hand came to rest atop his injured shoulder, as if trying to hold it steady. "She knew MPU before she came to us. I would guess she tracked it down to clear her name or something like that."

He looked at Parker with disbelief when she called out Faye's niche rather accurately. "Yeah... something like that. Kleptomaniac shrew, grifter, same difference." It was far too easy to be mean about Faye; it was how their... almost-a-friendship worked. Whether Parker would understand wasn't something he considered.

After she explained a bit about Nate, Spike's eyes widened slightly. His hand slowly slid from his shoulder, and he looked at his fingers briefly to make sure he'd not done enough damage to cause bleeding. He'd already done so a couple of times... but this time, he was lucky. Or maybe the movement had hurt more than done any damage.

"Jet was a cop," he said finally. "One too many crooked dealings, and he was gone... Couldn't stand it anymore." Out of respect for his partner, Spike left out some of the more-personal details about Jet's past; but the gist of it was there and it was enough to show his superficial similarities to Nate. "You don't have a dog on the team, do you?"

"I may just have to." Parker cracked a smile. "But that would not suprise me in the least."

"Now I'm more curious since its like there are links abet little ones to our teams. I mean Sophie is a mean grifter but she quickly became team mom in the process." she confessed. But she also picked the worst time to shift position, sending a nasty blast of pain through her ribs. "But I think Jet would like Nate on some level.". But she could smile at the dog crack,"No dogs but we do have a faked painting that sets up our office space if that counts? And who found the dog?"

"I would pity the child born of Faye Valentine," Spike said with a laugh. "She'd probably eat the poor thing!" He found it hard to imagine Faye taking on a motherly role, and his mind didn't make the connection between her sitting at his bedside (couch-side?) whenever he was injured and the motherly sort of affection. But it wasn't as if he had abundant experience in just what mothers were supposed to be like. The closest he had to one was... had been... an arms dealer who sold magazines full of naked women as a cover job.

"Eh... I did..." Spike offered an 'oops, you caught me' sort of grin. "The damn mutt wouldn't go away, so I gave him to Jet." Well, that was the gist of it, anyway; and Spike didn't want to admit that Ein likely would have stayed behind if not dragged onto the Bebop. Nor would he openly admit that he actually liked the dog.
