RP: Swimming
Characters: Kara, Chase
Time/Date: Afternoon
Location: Pool
Warnings/Rating: none, probably
Summary: Going for a swim, but keeping the door propped open
Status: Complete

She had argued back and forth with herself all day, but she finally gave in. She had the swimsuit, and had never had the chance to actually swim, so she was heading to the roof.

When she got up there, the first thing she did, was secured the stairwell door open, and hoped that one of those stupid fire alarms didn't go off because of it. She also had brought her phone, and a change of clothes. She was not going to get fooled this time. She was just going to have a nice swim in the pool, and these people were not going to stop her.

She had already had an annoying day, which was her main reason for wanting to get out to the pool. Her only friend from back home was apparently about a year behind her in the timeline, so he didn't know her. He probably now even thought she was some crazy girl too. That coupled with the fact that she was feeling worse and worse about not being able to track down who killed her parents was really making her feel like crap.

She moved at a blur as she removed the clothes she was wearing over her bikini and claimed a chair with her stuff. Even after discovering that not everyone here had powers, she continued using them, mostly because she was growing to not care about what others thought while she was here. Most everyone had probably seen her use them by now, so who were they going to gang up with to go after her, the vampire? Seemed pretty unlikely, so she figured no point in hiding them anymore.

She approached the water, dipped her toe in it to check the temperature, then dove in and cleared the length of the pool in a split second. She was a bit slower in water than she was on land, but it was still a simple task of moving your legs fast, and that she could do.

Bored, bored, bored. Chase was extremely bored. He'd seen on the network that another Son had shown up, and he thought he'd have to say hi, at some point. A little grin played over his lips as he thought of the many, many ways in which he could say hello.

Thinking Reid and or Tyler might be up at the pool, he made his way up there. Upon only seeing a girl - one he recognized from the snowed out pool party - he was moderately disappointed. Still ... he'd had fun with the younger girl and his spider trick, so maybe this one would serve to alleviate his boredom, at least for a little while.

Sprawling across one of the lounge chairs on his front, facing the pool, he grinned. "Hey," he called over to her if she hadn't already seen him. "How's it going?"

Kara looked up at the greeting. She recognized the guy as the center of the commotion at the pool party. She had been curious about what had happened that day, but figured it would be a little rude to just come out and say something right now. She didn't even know the guy. Who knows, there could have been some confusion and she only thought he was in the middle of the thing Tyler was upset about.

"Hi," she replied to his greeting. She dipped her head back so as to let all her colorful hair get out of her face, "Not too bad. Just a little bored, I guess."

"You?"

He shrugged. "Can't complain I guess," he offered. Which was a lie; there were several things here he could complain about. Several things he would complain about, if he thought it would help at all.

"The bored thing seems to be going around," he agreed. Sure, he could make his own fun ... and he thought about filling the pool with spiders just now. But he'd wait. Maybe see if she had anything interesting to say first.

"So, made a lot of friends here?" he pressed, a grin quirking his lips slightly.

"Yeah," she said to the bored comment, "You'd think that if a bunch of people were going to be kidnapped and put in a island barrendise, they'd at least have an activity director we could get annoyed with." She gave a small sarcastic laugh to enhance the comment.

"Not really," she told him, "Met a few people. Tyler is nice to me." Her face got a little red at the thought of Tyler, but she played it off as best she could by dipping down into the water and coming back up.

"What about you?" She asked, then refrained from making a sarcastic comment about the events at the party.

He smirked slightly. "Guess they all thought we were bright enough to come up with our own forms of entertainment." Which, generally speaking, he was just fine at.

He quirked a brow when she mentioned Tyler, and a smirk curved his lips. "Yeah, Tyler's pretty nice to everyone," Chase agreed, though there was a touch of mockery to the words.

Tyler had been one of Caleb's lapdogs, and that was as far as anything went in his mind. Tyler was a follower, end of story. It wasn't as though he'd exactly posed any sort of threat when Chase had been harassing the Sons.

"What about me what?" he said as he pulled out of his thoughts, backtracking through the conversation. He shook his head. "I'm not really the sort that makes friends."

"It would help if they didn't pull me here when I was in the middle of something," she mentioned as a side note, "But, I guess with most of us have been doing a good job of entertaining ourselves." Plus if she hadn't come here, she wouldn't have gotten to see Tyler.

She kind of figured that much about him. He didn't seem to be Mr Popularity at the pool party. She continued resisting the urge to ask him what happened.

She also ignored the mockery of Tyler, seeing as she already knew that the two of them didn't really look like they got along.

She contemplated for a moment before asking, but her curiosity was already at its limit, so she wound up being compelled to ask her next question. "So what have you been doing for fun?"

"In the middle of something?" He prompted. What, like a school play? he thought, but opted to hold his tongue. There was no need to scare away his entertainment so early on. He couldn't really deny that everyone had seemed to be pretty decent at keeping themselves occupied.

"Bit of this, bit of that. Looking across the line a lot," he admitted. It wasn't that he hadn't learned his lesson the first time ... he was just looking for a way around it. Given what he'd heard around, not everywhere had acid, so theoretically there were places he could cross that had something he could get past.

Once he found those, he'd be bolting across the line and ... seeing what was on the other side of it.

Chase tried not to grin too much, because then the baiting would be painfully obvious. "Bet you could run across it though, huh? Fast enough that you could get past whatever was triggered before it caught you."

"Yeah," she replied, "My parents were killed a few months ago... few months from when I'm from at least." She clarified, "Been trying to find their killer," against her sister's wishes of course. One of the reasons she had been living on the street lately.

"Probably could," she said, turning a little red from what she was taking as a compliment, "Wanted to learn a bit more about it first." She informed him, "I heard someone fell into a pool of acid, and I would like to avoid that."

He nodded slightly. "My adoptive parents died when I turned eighteen," he admitted. Well. They had died, but he'd killed them, so it was hardly the same thing. "I found my biological father and he died shortly after that," Chase continued, a malicious glint forming in blue eyes. His father ... who'd explained everything a little too late to help him. His father, who'd given him more power at the cost of his own life.

Closing his eyes to clear his expression - there was no need to be giving away everything, right? - he tried for a sympathetic smile to Kara.

Though that faded fast enough when she mentioned the acid. Jesus Christ, did everyone know about that? He lifted one hand. "That'd be me. True story," he assured her.

She felt a lot of sympathy for the guy. She knew how it felt to lose your parents, but to lose the people who cared for you as parents and then, after that, your real parents too? She wouldn't be able to imagine how that must have felt. Of course she missed the glint in his eyes that showed that he was feeling less than remorseful. "Sorry to hear that." She told him with a very sympathetic voice.

"Oh, wow," she said as the fact that the guy she was speaking to was the one who had the bad luck to fall into acid, was realized. "I'm so sorry, are you feeling better now?" Stupid question, she knew, but what else could she say?

Chase managed not to burst into laughter, but it required a lot of focus. Even so, a little grin did slip briefly across his lips. "Yeah, well. It happens. That's life. Everyone dies," he said before he shrugged slightly - as well as he could while lying face down on a chair, at any rate.

He smirked to her question. "It was just some burning. They're mostly healed up now," he assured her. Mostly. There were still some pale patches that he hadn't been able to do anything about, but it wasn't like anyone would be studying his calves or anything. And even if they did, so what? At least he'd tried to get out, unlike some of these other pansies.

She looked at him curiously upon his response to her sympathy for his loss. She could have swore a grin appeared. She shook her head slightly to bring her to her senses, cause that was obviously not what she saw. Why would he be happy about his parents dieing? He wouldn't, so she was just seeing things.

"I just feel bad that I was mad at mine when they died," she told him, "And it was for something that I found out wasn't actually the case."

She was slowly starting to get back to a tearful point, so she chose to try and drop the subject of dead parents, and try and focus more on the getting over the white line subject.

"Good to know you're healing alright," she said, "I can't believe they did something like that. Of course they did kidnap all of us and put us on an island and pull practical jokes on us..." she was silent for a moment, "No, I think I can believe that they would do that."

Chase licked his lips, his natural animosity sneaking to the surface. There were so many horrible things he could say about that, but ... for now, he was not inclined to estrange anyone from him. Not until he found out where the powerbase was and where the loyalties were. Why make more enemies than was fun for him?

Since she seemed inclined to let the topic drop, he simply nodded to her and let it go as well.

"They do seem pretty sadistic," he agreed with a nod. "Maybe acid's the worst of it. Maybe not." He shrugged. "Guess we'll see what happens when anyone else tries to cross it."

"I know a few others have tried," she mentioned, "But I still think acid is considered the worst right now." She gave a grim smile, "Makes you a little famous around here I guess."

She hoisted herself up on the side of the pool, leaving her legs dangling in the water as she came to rest in a sitting position on the side of the pool. "I'll probably try at some point," she informed him, "Hopefully I can avoid the acid when I try."

She would hate to have burn scars. Aside from the physical issues that would probably in sue from it, she was still a teenage girl, and, even though she was more on the punk rocker girl side, she would still be horrified at the fact that her looks would be ruined.

"You'll have to let me know when you plan on trying," Chase said. "Maybe I can help." Or hinder. Whichever would be more amusing to him at the time - and really, it could go either way. If he was bored enough, he might try to trip her up. He opted to ignore the comment about his fame. Between the acid and the suspicions at the pool party ... well, he supposed he'd catch a name for himself eventually.

If nothing else, he could see what she triggered, and ... maybe find a way around it.

Chase sat up as well, shifting so he was sitting properly on the lounge. His arms crossed over his chest and he regarded her for a moment before he looked away.

She shrugged, "Why not tomorrow?" She said, figuring she might as well get it over with. Despite the pending hurt that she may find, he was right. With her speed, she could probably get past the traps without even setting them off. Either that, or she could set a bunch of them off, and then attempt to dodge everything. Who knows?

"We all have to get back, and if I might have the ability to help with that, I don't want to hold back out of nervousness or fear." She said, as though her reasoning was needing to be justified. Perhaps it did. If not to Chase, then to her. She was going to be the one trying it this time after all, so she was definitely going to need to convince herself it was the right thing to do.

"Sure, definitely. We all have to work together and all that," he agreed. "So tomorrow," he agreed with a little shrug. He was definitely curious to see if she would, but hell. If she got a good running start, she could probably be past whatever she was going to set off before it fully triggered, right?

He nodded toward the door, a grin curving his lips. "Guess I'll head in. So I'll see you tomorrow. Let me know when you're ready," he added as he rose from the lounge chair.

Maybe he'd get someone else to witness ... or maybe he'd just go by himself no one was around to scowl at him when he laughed at her.

"See you then," she called after him.

She was probably going to keep this little thing quiet. Thoughts of her sister entered her head as she thought about things. She wasn't sure if she was close to anyone here yet, but she was one of the younger ones. She didn't want to risk someone acting overprotective, like Allison. Especially not if she can somehow get past that line that is probably where the way out lies.

She moved off the edge back into the pool and continued her swimming for a little while longer before deciding to head inside. Her heart was racing faster than usual just from talking about doing it. She was crazy, but crazy times call for crazy measures, or something along those lines.
