[01 Aug 2011|01:16pm] OPENS APRIL 29TH PREMISE RULES SUPERNATURALS CAST HOLDS WANTED APPLICATION Two days ago this was an empty lot, an abandoned field near the edge of town. Then the trucks rolled in, big semis huffing clouds of noxious fumes, and able-bodied men jumped out to set stakes in the ground, run string to mark off areas. The townspeople whispered excitedly as the posters and flyers arrived around town, posted on telephone poles and bulletin boards, stacks of them on the counters in shops. The Dark Carnival was in town. The tents aren't the brilliant red and white stripes of the carnivals of yesteryear; these are black and gray, burgundy and purple, dark jewel tones lit from within by lanterns and candles and black-lights. Torches burn at the entrance and a sign warns all who enter that they are lost. Here the carnies walk among the crowd dressed in leather jackets embroidered like a skeleton's infrastructure, weaving expertly between the marks and disappearing into the crowd so effortlessly you'd swear you'd seen a ghost. Barkers call to passersby, luring them in for the sights and sounds. Canvas banners ripple in the wind, which carries with it the scent of food cooking, the hot smell of machinery and oil. There are cries of laughter and delighted squeals coming from the midway, the freak tent, the handful of thrill rides. People walk out of the psychic's tent looking a little uneasy, laughing it off as hokum even as their skin crawls. And some of those shrieks from the haunted house... well, they sound a little too sincere, don't they? Of course, not all who enter will leave when the night is over. This is the Dark Carnival. OOC: This is a thread/AIM-log based game which is set in modern times. It is a traveling carnival which is run by Arkady Von Wulf, a vampire who seeks to create a haven for supernatural beings and those who respect them, a place to offer them sanctuary and solidarity against the outside world that would persecute and condemn them. The carnival is populated by creatures from all mythologies around the world, and all abide by a simple set of rules. The game is highly active and has a large, friendly population of talented, creative writers. We do gamewide challenges and plot twists frequently to keep things interesting and focus on well-written, interesting scenes on life in the carnival. All characters are original, no fandoms or Mary Sues/Gary Stus, and all PBs are welcome as long as they're human/real-world based. We encourage diversity among our characters and are more than happy to work with you to come up with fun concepts! post comment

[01 Aug 2011|06:52pm] TESTIFY! Hello, all! A friend and I are contemplating starting a small group psl based around the film, "Repo! The Genetic Opera," and we are trying to decide if it would garner enough interest to actually come to fruition. The psl would take place after the film has ended, which would put Amber Sweet in charge of GeneCo. We already have an Amber Sweet and a Graverobber lined up, but this still puts us needing a Shilo Wallace, Pavi Largo, and a Luigi Largo. Any takers? Just comment here and let us know. [01 Aug 2011|09:29pm] Currently at ritesofpassage, a super powered OC game, player seeks two lines for this journal: The Best Friend: No suggested name or PB, but preferably a male & late-20's to mid-40's. Notes: They've known each other for a while and he's one of the few people that have been there for a lot of the big mile stones in her life. Could be fun if upon first meeting them people wouldn't think they're friends because they're so different. Would be neat if he was a fellow surgeon (possible co-worker?) but this also is not required. The First Ex-fiance: No suggested name or PB, but preferably a man late-20's to late-30's. Notes: They rushed into a relationship based mostly on desire, lust and sex. Within a 6months they where engaged and then he had to move away. A long distance relationship occurred causing them to actually talk for once. This lead to the mutual realization that they had almost nothing in common and the engagement was called off. Vic still loves him in a way because once she gives part of her heart to a person, they'll always have it. BUT she does know they are (were?) very wrong for each other and would not be looking to get back with him. Open to whatever happens.
