RP: Pool party
Who: Open
When: 12th of June
Where: Pool area
What: The pool party doesn't go as well as they thought

- The pool area is in the dungeon, not to far from the club.
- It's a pool, hot tub and a sauna
- The party started at 4. The house elves have provided food and drinks and the plan is to spend the evening there. There's also loud music
- Around 7ish, they hear loud screeching getting close.
- There's a flock of ten birds that enter the pool area. From the sounds, they can tell that there are more. If your character isn't in the pool, he/she can be surprised somewhere else.
- They don't recognize the creatures. On first look they look friendly, but when they attack, they will use their talons (poisoned), beaks (very cutting) and fire breath.
- Burns from the fire breath are magical and the scars will NOT be able to be cured without major work/time, reshaping of someone's body. So basically if you want your character to look like he/she does without scars, don't pick magical burns.
- The poison will make people very sick. In fact, Marlene will not know how to cure it and people will assume that they will end up dying. It will take a four days before the cure is found and they will be cured. Obviously the characters don't know this.
- Injury Score is Here

Scorpius was loving the party. The music was fun, the food was great and everyone seemed to be having a good time. He didn't think everyone had come, but that was fine too.

He barely heard the noise from the birds over the chaos that reigned in the pool, but when he saw them, he smiled. They looked cute, small and light. "Hey, little one," he said, trying to get closer to one of the smallest, and then there was a screech from a slightly bigger bird and when it opened its beak, there were flames everywhere.

Later, he would say that he felt the flames before seeing them, which would be ridiculous, but then everything became a blur, with only pain registering until someone pushed him into the pool (or maybe he feel) and the world wend dark.

Lilu was near Scorpius, just having exited the pool. She saw them, but knew from experience that approaching weird creatures that just appeared didn't always end well. She was about to warn Scorpius to stay back when he started to approach and suddenly there was a screech and fire. She didn't think just reacted, and cast a blasting hex at the bird while lunging forward to push Scorpius into the water. She didn't even think about what it would do to her, and screamed as the fire scorched her hands as the momentum carried her into the pool with Scorpius.

Padma - 3

Padma had been watching the birds circling over them from in the pool where she could follow their reflection without staring directly at them and potentially appearing as a threat. Seeing two suddenly dive toward something behind her, she turned in time to see Scorpius engulfed in flames, Lilu blasting one bird out of the air before falling in herself. As the second bird wheeled around for another pass, Padma cast a blasting curse of her own before diving beneath the surface to swim the distance to where Scorpius was floating unconscious in the water. When she surfaced, she scanned the young man's condition quickly with her eyes and determined there wasn't going to be a good way to get him out of there, but she had to try.

Sensing someone off to the side, she called "Help Lilu get out!" before casting the gentlest levitation spell she knew. Poor Scorpius' body was covered in burns and she didn't want to cause any further damage by rough handling, even though she also wanted to get him out of there as quickly as possible. Directing Scorpius' floating form as carefully as she could afford, Padma had just hauled herself out of the pool when something knocked into her. Bird or victim or debris, she didn't know. But, the suddenness of it caused her to lose her footing. Her body twisted at an odd angle and she took the slick edge of the pool hard against her side as she went back down into the water.

Pain flared along her side and she gasped brokenly when she got her head above water. Gritting her teeth, she tried to pull herself out again, but the motion caused more pain and bright flashes of light as she tried to breathe. Instead, she used a spell to push herself up on a small wave of pool water until her fet could touch the ground poolside. One hand pressed to her right side, trying to ease her breath into less panicked gulps, she retook control of her levitation spell, relieved to see Scorpius hadn't fallen out of it when she had fallen herself, and directed Scorpius ahead of her as she hurried as carefully as she could from the pool area and prayed the infirmary wouldn't be overrun with these creatures when they got there.

Harry - 1

Harry didn't particularly like pools. He'd never been to one when he was growing up and during his school years, he'd been a little busy with Voldemort. Then there had been work. His big 'swimming' lesson had been during the Triwizard tournament and he'd been so worried about breathing underwater for an hour that he hadn't concentrated on the fact that he couldn't really swim. The gillyweed had solved that problem, but Harry had never gone swimming after that. Still he was here today because it was as much a party as anything else.

The moment the birds entered the pool area, though, he was ready for them. He hadn't even bothered summoning his wand, unwilling to waste time, but instead casting spell after spell. The bloody things were fast and most spells seemed not to work as well as they should, but he put that aside.

"Padma, I've got your six," he yelled, before casting a spell to levitate Lilu. "Come on, run to the exit. I've got you covered," he told his daughter, while not looking at her hands for now. Keep them alive, that was his job. Marlene would have to do with the rest.

Regulus wasn't impressed with the birds. Like he told Remus he was always expecting the worst and he reached for his wand the moment he saw heard the noise. Getting up from his lounger, he surveyed the scene. It was much easier to battle other people, but there was no way he could predict a bird. He certainly couldn't predict the fire coming from the little bird and Scorpius screams. The chaos that ensued was more predictable.

He probably could have gotten out of here, but there were too many people who had no idea what to do and while he was no Gryffindor, there was one person who definitely needed to be protected: their healer.

Regulus saw the bird go toward Marlene and he cast a blasting hex. The bird seemed to sense it and veered, but still got partial hurt. The loud response got the other birds into a frenzy and two went toward Regulus. He tried to run, but the floor was slippery and there was no Apparition here. Regulus managed to hex one of the birds, but then fell as he tried to avoid the second one. He banged his head, but he couldn't let that stop him. He kept hexing and moving. He ended up cutting himself against the corner of a metal table, but he couldn't stop. "McKinnon, come on, we need to get you out of here." People could find their way to the infirmary, for now, he'd have to get her there. His injuries could wait until they were safe.

Only have arrived a handful of minutes before the chaos ensued, Marlene was closer to the exit than most. She was never on time for anything and was hoping to make up for the lost time, when she heard screams and the screeching sound of birds. Instinctively she began to run towards the sounds of Scorpius cries, when she saw Regulus cast his blasting hex. She stopped dead in her tracks, slipped and fell. Not feeling any worse for the wear, she noted the slightly grazed skin on her leg and knew she would be well bruised up and sore tomorrow. For now she could stand and hold her ground and she quickly got to her feet.

Reaching for her wand she sent a hex toward a bird circling overhead, when she saw Regulus fall. Making her way toward him, she cast a protective barrier as he drew closer.

Leaving had been the furthest thought from her mind as she heard the cries, screams, and shrieking birds. She quickly panned around looking for Lily, but in the commotion and debris she couldn't see her. She knew the right thing to do would be to head to the infirmary to tend to the injured, who would make their way there, but it didn't make the choice any easier.

It was when Regulus spoke that she knew she had to concede. "Alright, Black," she said reaching out to grab his arm. He was in much rougher shape than herself. "Let's go."

Lily probably should have been paying better attention to her surroundings. She was over at the food table picking out a few things to take back poolside, where she was dipping her feet in the water. The music was a little loud for her tastes, but everyone else seemed to enjoy it.

It wasn't until she heard someone screaming that she realized there was a problem. The smell of burning flesh and blood flooded her senses causing her stomach to twist as she felt nausea overtaking her. She knew she had to get somewhere safe, but her body decided to be unwilling to cooperate. Her head was spinning. Lily reached out for something - anything - to steady herself on as she forced her feet to move.

Where was James? And Harry? Her grandkids? Their friends? Pausing to look around, she felt a rush of wind as a bird divebombed at her before she could react. Instinctively raising her arms up to protect her face, Lily felt frozen in place.

Having gotten tired of roaming around and checking out who showed up and where they were and what they were doing, Theo had decided to head to the food table to get a quick bite to eat before joining in on the festivities. It was when he had almost reached the table that he heard someone screaming. Noticing Lily standing at the table, he glanced overhead and saw a bird swooping toward her.

There wasn't time to draw his wand and so before he even knew he was moving, he rushed towards her, giving her a rough shove out of the way of the path of the bird. The creature swooped in close enough to tear at his shirt sleeve with it's talon, leaving a long scratch along the length of his arm before veering off to circle back. For such a slight injury it seared with pain, and instinctively he knew something was terribly wrong.

Having now drawn his wand, he watched the bird that injured him circling back and he began to cast an incantation, moving his wand deftly in a circular motion, and stepping back as the bird struck his target, the circle lighting up as it did so with the faint outline of a clock face. The bird disappeared, and Theo watched as it began it's cycle again. Once more striking the target, and then starting over again. And so it would stay trapped for the time being, and he hoped as he narrowed his eyes at it, that he would be the once to cage it.

Not wanting to turn his attention away from the scene around them, and the flock of birds that had descended upon the party, he reached out his arm and extended his hand.

"Are you alright, Mrs. Potter?"

Fully expecting a world of pain in her future, Lily was rather shocked to find herself knocked off her feet as the bird passed almost harmlessly overhead. Flailing a little to help blunt the impact of her fall unfortunately gave the bird an opportunity to attempt catching her arm in its' beak. The pain she felt wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been, and she had Theo to thank for it.

Taking the offered hand with a grimace on her face, she noticed the scratch on his arm, pausing to rip a section of her skirt free. There wasn't enough time for her to do anything more than quickly wrap the cloth around the wound, hoping to staunch some of the bleeding. In the moment she was more concerned about his than she was herself.

"Thank you, I'm alright. Nothing a quick visit to the hospital wing won't fix," she answered as she pulled her wand as well, glancing up at the sky. "You should get that scratch looked at as well. The redness around it doesn't look all that good." It seemed foolish to mention something he had probably already figured out, but Lily was at a bit of a loss on how else she could press upon him the importance of getting his arm checked as soon as possible.

"We should probably find some sort of cover, don't you think?" Lily tried to see if she could find James or any of the others before pulling on Theo to get him to move.

"I owe you cookies, or something, as a thank you."

"Good. No major harm then." He said calmly. Having helped Lily to her feet, Theo took to looking around beyond the bird he had trapped to the position of those left standing and the birds that remained. More so than this the hexes and curses and fire and debris. To say it was chaos was putting it mildly. He heard the rip of fabric and turned to see his arm being wrapped. A little surprised, he just laughed a little in shock. "Yes. Of course. I plan on it," he answered. It was the first thing he'd do once they got the bloody hell out of here.

"We'll stick to the perimeter, the wall covers at least one side for us," he said, when he felt the tug at his arm. It was turning out to be a rather odd day, he thought as he glanced over at Lily. He'd muse on it all later, once they got out. It wouldn't be hard, he thought. If they were smart.

"Thank you is enough. A bottle of scotch might be nice though."

Setting off, he sent what deflective charms and protections he could, and anything he could think of to affect the flight patterns of the birds. It seemed impractical to send anything else into the fray of spells hurling about. Lily he left to her own devices, her odd freezing period seemed to have faded away. What caused it he couldn't imagine but it did and here they were. She was plenty capable of taking care of what was outside of his range, which was a comfort.

He glanced around looking for Roxanne, and Draco, seeing only Roxanne helping someone out of the party straight ahead. They'd get out, all of them. He was reasonably sure of it. There were more than enough of them there who could fend for themselves and others. It was just going to take a toll. He just hoped they could pay the price.

"That's a good plan." She acknowledged. Checking to make sure Theo didn't seem to be bleeding anywhere else, Lily was ignoring the pain in her own arm in favor of doing what she could to stun the birds. If it wasn't for the fact that James was elsewhere helping people, it would almost feel like the old days. Which wasn't necessarily a good thing except in the case of her falling into certain familiar patterns. "I'll drag you to Marlene myself if I have to," she replied with a grin.

She had no intention on hanging onto him once they got moving. She was just concerned that he might attempt more heroics if left to his own devices. From what she'd seen of Theo, he was rather shrewd and not prone to grandiose acts, but situations like this brought out sides of people even they didn't know existed.

"I'm certain I can find you a bottle of scotch, then."

Watching their backs, she made sure to cast whatever protection spells she could recall, while following the path Theo was blazing ahead of them. It went without saying that she felt incredibly silly for her earlier lack of action. Having never been the type to just stand there and take whatever abuse was coming her way, she was starting to get angry at herself. He might not realize it, but Theo's actions reminded Lily that she was a fighter.

She finally caught sight of James and the other Marauders, trusting that they would refrain from any idiocy. Her husband was going to be a father, again, and she fully expected to see him looking relatively unhurt when all of this was said and done.

Spending a bit of time in the sauna had sounded like a brilliant idea when Jamie had gone in. Lounge around in the steam for a bit, until it was too hot and he had to go cannonball into the pool like an idiot. But, the sound of screaming brought him dashing out in time to see Scorpius fall into the pool while on fire and a small flock of birds diving at the party-goers.

Then it was all chaos.

Birds and people equally dangerous to themselves and each other swarming all over, flames, hexes, screams. It was like nothing Jamie had ever seen outside his uncle's memories and memories did nothing to prepare the reality of the smell of burning flesh.

His first thought was to find Al and Lilu. Silently thanking his dad for being so damn paranoid when Jamie was growing up, he dodged birds and people, shattering glass and stone, flying hexes and attempted hexes. Seeing three of four of the birds descend on someone -- he couldn't tell who because he had to duck to avoid a talon through the eye -- he sent his Patronus racing toward them. It wouldn't do any damage to the birds and it shouldn't take any damage either. But, it should distract them enough for whoever it was to get to safety.

Probably couldn't use that trick more than once, but once was enough when he had to find his siblings. "Lilu!" he called out. "Al!" Dodging debris, he'd search until he found them and got them out of there.

Savannah was pretending that she was sunbathing in a room with no sun, so she saw the birds get in. Mr. Weasley's training should have kicked in sooner, but seeing birds and thinking homicidal beasts was not something that came naturally. Seeing Scorpius on fire, though, made her move rather quickly.

She could see Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley hexing the birds to create a path for people to leave, but the birds' flames were long reaching. She zigzagged through the furniture and the flame, but one bird got closer and by instinct, she dropped to the floor, but her foot his something. The pain exploded just as she hit the ground. She knew that sensation.

She had probably broken an ankle. Not that first time that she had broken something, and she had played with broken bones, but getting out with killer birds was different. She was planning her escape when she heard Jamie's voice. "Jamie, I need help. I think I broke my ankle. Give me a hand," she said as she got up, wincing at the pain. No matter how bad it was, staying here was going to be lethal.

"Savannah?" Jamie pulled up short, flicking a slashing spell at the bird that chose that moment to dive bomb him. Glancing around, he spotted her near a toppled table and lounge chairs. He was torn for only a second. He needed to find his siblings, but he also couldn't just leave her there to fend for herself. "I'm coming."

He made his way to her side and slipped an arm around her waist. "I've got you." As he looked around for the best way to the exit, he saw his dad with Lilu near the pool. So, that was one less worry. But, he still hadn't seen Al, who he would have expected to be ear Scorpius. "Come on," he told Savannah. "Let's get you out of here. You focus on walking and I'll keep them off us."

James has been sat on one edge of the pool, one foot dangling carelessly in the water and chatting happily away, when the birds arrived. He heard them before he saw them - a beating of wings which had him turning in confusion. They were in the dungeons, after all. It wasn't exactly a high-traffic area for flocks of birds. But almost before he spotted them, a scream ripped through the echoing space. James was on his feet in an instant, watching a body covered in flames fall into the water, his wand somehow clenched in his hand.

It seemed like all hell broke loose then. Instinctively, James looked around for Lily and Harry, finally spotting his son barrelling through the crowd in the direction of the pool. But where was Lily? She'd just left to get some food... the birds seemed to be everywhere, and as desperately as James searched for his wife, he couldn't spot her. Instead he found himself automatically falling in alongside three familiar figures, sending shield charms and defensive charms upwards.

It all seemed to pass in a blur of feathers, fire and screama. At one point he ducked to avoid a swooping bird, ending up landing awkwardly on his right arm. There was a searing pain and a crack, and when he looked down there was a disconcerting flash of white jutting out and strange angle. James forced himself not to look again, gritting his teeth and heading back into the chaos.

Remus - 5

For one heat-stopping moment Remus had watching Regulus head toward the fray. But, after seeing Regulus' trajectory, he understood the behaviour. He'd just have to trust his lover knew what he was doing because Remus' skills were needed elsewhere, no matter how much he wanted to be there to make sure Regulus was protected.

There were others here less capable that needed help.

Manoeuvring around the chaos, he concentrated on defensive spells, throwing barriers between birds and their targets, buying time for others to get the wounded up and out of the line of fire. It was inevitable, he supposed, that the four of them end up fighting together. As the last of the wounded and vulnerable were escorted past them, he realized it was down to the four of them covering the last of the stragglers' escape.

Dirty, covered in minor scrapes and bruises that would be mere memories by morning, Remus dodged a spout of flame just as he saw James go down. But, he didn't have time to do more than call a quick "All right, Prongs?" as his friend got up to rejoin them. A flash of movement out of the corner of his eye took his focus. He could see Sirius holding his own, but two of the birds were descending on his from behind. They were too far apart for Remus to get them both with one spell.

"Pads! Look out!" Remus blocked the nearest one, while simultaneously flinging himself between the second and his best friend. The sensation of sharp talon-tipped claws tearing into his exposed, wolf-bitten shoulder was painful. But, what was one more set of wound scars? He'd heal. Reaching over his shoulder, he took the bird by the neck and wrenched it up until it loosened its hold on his flesh. Then, he flung it away, using the motion to snap its neck in the process.

It was as he turned to make sure Sirius was okay that he felt it. The surge of searing pain, like fire in his veins, and the sudden awareness that something was horribly wrong washed over him just before all his strength failed and his knees buckled, sending Remus tumbling to the ground.

Of course they were the lasts around the pool, trying to kill those bloody birds. Harry was there too, casting spells with his right and left hand, meaning that half the spells were cast without a wand. He would have been more impressed if he weren't trying to stop those birds from setting everything on fire.

Seeing Remus go down though was a shock. Of all of them, Remus was the fastest, the hardest to hit, the strongest. "Sirius, grab Remus and get him out," he yelled.

He began covering Sirius, but then he saw a bird go after Albus. He was hexed the bird, but he was too late. Running toward the attack, he hexed the bird, which veered up. Peter bent down to pick Albus up. "Come on, we need to get you out," he said, grunting through the pain when one of the birds scratched him. He turned and cast another spell, killing the bird and the left the room with Harry destroying the last birds and then walking through the school to take care of the others.

Parvati was in the hot tub when she blanked out, a vision of birds setting paintings on fire coming to her just moments before she heard the nose. She didn't waste time, getting out and grabbing her wand. Before she could say anything, Scorpius was on fire and the pool resembled the last battle, with furniture going on fire and people trying to escape.

She decided that if everyone concentrated here, she'd find the ones that were still out there, providing safe passage for the ones who were injured.

She patrolled until they had disposed of the birds in the pool and reinforcements arrived to the upper floors. By the time all the birds had been taken care of, she had only suffered minor scratches.

She'd lost track of time at work, so had arrived late to the party. Roxanne stepped through the doors, peering around the impressive room for a familiar face. It wouldn't take long. How far could she really go in this place without bumping into a relative, after all? Although maybe Theo or Savannah might be about...

She was barely halfway in when a scream rang through the room. A chilling, pained scream that lifted the hairs on the back of her neck. Roxanne couldn't see what or who had caused it, but it was like a switch. Suddenly people were running and shouting, spells and charms being sent in every direction. Hang on... were those birds?

She stumbled back, catching her heel on a step and falling as a lick of flame came dangerously close. But there was someone coming towards her, looking hurt, and Roxanne was quickly back on her feet, ignoring the ache of bruises already blooming as she grabbed a stumbling bystander and pulled them towards the door.

Albus hadn't been to the pool party. He might be doing his best to embrace certain aspects of the future, but he had to draw a line somewhere. Swimmkmg costumes seemed a fairly good place to do so.

He was walking back to his rooms when the birds arrived. Just a couple of them, but they seemed quite intent on causing him harm. Luckily, Albus was quick with his wand, dodging out of the way and firing off various defensive and offensive spells. It took him a moment to find what worked, but then one bird was gone and he was left with its rather upset partner.

An idea suddenly occurring, Albus hesitated. He needed it closer, although that may prove challenging... Still, he certainty had plenty of Gryffindor nerve when it was needed. Albus held still, waiting in the middle of the corridor as the remaining creature swooped around and back towards him.

It came screaming closer. Closer, closer. The young professor held out to the last minute before raising his wand. The spell that erupted - a giant golden cage made from strings of light - spread through the air like a cross between a firework and a spiders Web. The force of it sent Albus backwards, the back of his head hitting the opposite wall with a crack that made his teeth rattle.

Stars exploding in front of his eyes, it was a moment before Albus recovered enough to see that it had worked. The bird was trapped, furious but unharmed, its wings beating against the crackling bars. Dropping his wand with a faint sky, Albus stared at it for a long moment, refusing to acknowledge the wave if nausea which was rising in his throat.

It sounded like there were more of them. Ignoring the way the floor was spinning slightly, the auburn haired wizard turned and sprinted back the way he had come, following the spund of wings.
