RP: Meeting
Who: Everyone
When: 9:00 AM, 21st May
Where: Great Hall
What: Harry brings everyone up to date

Harry was getting this explanation down to an art form, but while talking to his friends, it was mostly about giving the evidence, his guesses and letting them spot any problems, it was different when talking to so many people, when he had to convince them that he was right, but he supposed that this was what he did.

"Morning, I wanted to bring you all here to discuss something important, something that will keep away from the journals when possible. As you know, we've uncovered the first clue. While it doesn't tell us where the vault is, the clue and more importantly the way we got to the clue made me think." He stopped pacing and stood in front of the professors' table, looking down at their little group. "The clues were part of my life, part of Ron and Hermione's lives. The twins' store, the chess game to read the Sorcerer's Stone. There's so much that it's directed at us, that it got me thinking."

He jumped so he could sit on the table. "When we got here, we read that they were doing experiments to help with pregnancies. We all took it for good, because none of us knew better, but the younger generations have told us that there were plenty of spells already available, including an experimental spell to create a child without a mother, all done with magic. There were already spells that did what allegedly the Ministry did, so why would the Ministry, why would Hermione, the most logical person I know, approve something so stupid? Why would Padma, a person who is known for her ability to keep her calm, throw a fit and quit instead of staying and sabotaging things from the inside? It makes no sense. Why would I agree to force people to have children? None of this makes sense.

"Parvati had a vision that foretold the end of our civilization. It was supposed to be something that only Ministers knew, but Ministers change and their advisers know and eventually people find out, so here's what I'm thinking. People knew about the end so they wanted more children. Purebloods blaiming the influence of the Muggle world. Half-bloods and Muggleborns claiming that we needed to open more," he said. "But what if behind the scenes they were working together, pushing their own agenda, trying to create spells to force pregnancies, create clones, we don't know this part."

He jumped off the table. "I think we found out. Hermione wouldn't have kept me and Ron in the dark about the prophecy when things were going to hell, and we would have needed the D.A. I believe that the rumours, the 'experiments', they were a combination of us trying to save our people. We must have been working on a way to get people back either through time or death magic, and that was nothing we could have done within the Ministry, so off Padma went and she started researching, while we prepared things for after, for when people came back. I also think that we might have leaked enough conflicting information that countries and magical beings didn't come here to check."

Parvati spoke up. "That might explain why Firenze hasn't answered me yet. They wouldn't be happy if they suspected that we were messing with time and death."

"I wouldn't be happy either, but if we had no choice-" He shrugged. "I don't think the castle did it. I think we did it, but maybe people died before it could be perfected. I could keep things together, create clues, prepare a vault, but I wouldn't have been able to deal with the magic. I might have cast whatever spell I had when there was no more time left. Or we might have had a good spell, but it mixed with all the magic at Hogwarts. We don't know, but we need to find out more. This won't be easy, but from now on, most of our resources will be devoted to researching this. We will find what happened and we'll make sure that it doesn't happen again. Padma will coordinate the research arm of this. As of now, all of your other jobs are secondary to what she needs. This time, I don't need Hermione and Ron. I don't need the D.A.. I need everyone. Every single one of you has something to contribute, whether you know it or not."

He smiled. "And since we're about to throw ourselves into this and probably working more than the regular work day, I'm making official a proposal from Jamie and everyone will have twenty days off to take as you like. You also have ten sick days. Finally if you want to switch day from the weekday to the weekend and it's approved by whoever is your Head, then it's fine too." And if people worked 24/7, 7 days a week he wouldn't say anything, because that was his default. "While we're all here, let's take the time to talk to each other and start organizing time. You can talk to me privately as well if you need to."

Savannah let go long enough to hug him. "That's great, Jamie." She pulled back, smiling brightly at him. "Not good still looks really good on you. You seem more at peace with yourself, and I'm sure it's not perfect, but you are talking and that's what matters." She didn't think that a few days could fix a lifetime of hurt, but it was a stat, a very good start.

"That's good too." Savannah didn't know what had caused the change, but she had a feeling that looking too much into that might not be good for Jamie's mood, so she let it go. "That sounds like him. He does the protecting."

She raised a finger. "No, you're not doing that. You're not creating a whole new holiday so you can take on another job to protect him. I don't want the Harry Potter Day of the last few years. I want the one that my Mum used to talk about. On the 31st of July, everything closed and witches and wizards would party all day long. No speeches, no Ministry, they didn't even worry about the Statute of Secrecy. They'd go with their robes in the Muggle world. I'm not suggesting the last part, but the rest? Totally."

Jamie returned the hug with a chuckle because he probably should have expected that reaction when he told her things were improving between him and his dad. "The conversation wasn't good," he clarified, "because we brought up a lot of painful things. But, there were good things at the end. Strangely, we seem to work well together, too. In our time, Dad never would have asked for my help or trusted me to be able to do the work. So, that alone is an improvement. We'll...see how long it lasts, I suppose."

The words were flippant, but in his heart he was crossing his fingers because he'd finally felt like he'd made a connection with his father and it would crush Jamie entirely to lose that fragile feeling now.

Smirking, he reached out to grab her admonishing finger and waggle it back and forth teasingly. "You do know that if he hadn't been a baby or they'd known where he was, there probably would have been speeches and parades then, right? But, okay. As long as when we teach the history behind the day, we make sure to include the D.A. We can keep our traditions and still improve upon them so that we don't accidentally teach the next generation to wait for some individual hero to come along and save the day. If there's only one thing Dad stands for, it's people standing up to do what's right."

"Stop it," she said, knowing full well what he was doing. "Don't start expecting things to fall apart, or they will." It was the most basic mechanism to protect yourself, pushing others away before they could push you away. It was a very stupid mechanism as far as she was concerned. "I'm sure that you will find a way to work with each other."

Savannah shrugged. "Maybe, or maybe not, but we don't have to worry about the what ifs. Also you do know that remembrance day is all about people fighting and the D.A. and normal people standing up for what was right, yes? But we can agree on October 5th as Harry Potter Day. I'll speak with Scorpius and make sure he puts it in the calendar. Your father won't bother checking it anyway until after it's posted, so we're fine, and now, let's go talk to everyone else. I'm sure there are people who need the important curse breaker."
