Courship [Asgard; pre-marriage] (tag: Thor)
Sif set the brass plate down with a sigh. Someday, she'd own a decent mirror, but for now it had to do. The reflection was a bit distorted, so she had to hope she looked as good as she thought. It was important.
Thor was coming to call.
It wasn't the first time, or even the second. She'd actually seen him quite a bit lately. At first, she'd tried to appear as unimpressed as she could, but he didn't seem to get the hint. Her heart was already claimed, and she didn't want to lead the son of Odin into believing she might be worth persuing.
Thing was, Loki hadn't returned. Or sent word. Or anything. Sif had believed she would be different, but she slowly came to realize that there probably wasn't a future there after all. At least enough that she finally gave Thor permission to call on her, and slowly began to warm up to him. He was kind and generous, and he didn't have a reputation for womanizing. That was three things in his favor. Even better, he seemed to take a genuine interest in her son. Anyone who could accept not only her but also her son was probably worth noting.
She still didn't know exactly how she felt about him. She was certainly fond of him, but beyond that...well, it wasn't like he'd asked her to marry him or anything. So until Loki decided to show up and explain himself (and it had better be good if he knew what was good for him!) she was willing to go out on a limb and take a couple chances. If Loki was going to be a constant disappointment, she was far better off. If he did come back, and asked for her hand, she wouldn't be too involved with Thor. Really, what could it hurt to keep her options open?
