Time For Some Thrilling Heroics (tag: Loki)
Thor was nearly bubbling over with energy. He paced around the large expanse of his hall, from room to room, irritating anybody he encountered with his exuberance. When that was not enough to keep him from feeling like everything inside his body was vibrating, Thor ventured outside and continued his bouncing walk, trying to expend some of the built up tension in his body. Every few minutes, he’d look at the eastern horizon, and then he’d curse. Because the sun was taking forever to rise this morning. And he’d been up far before dawn because he just couldn’t sleep.
There was an adventure to be had!
Rumors ran rampant in Asgard, and though he was sometimes gullible, he wasn’t so foolish that he couldn’t recognize that not every whisper over the back fence could be true. But this one was! Not only was it on the lips of half the women, his sister’s handmaidens were talking about it too. Even Fulla and Gna, and if those two were talking about it, then it was definitely Something, with a capital S. And this one presented a great opportunity for glory. Plus, he’d get to be a hero.
And not just for smashing something. Not that he didn’t like smashing things. There was a great deal of satisfaction that came from breaking something, or beating someone in a fight. It had garnered him a reputation. But that was sort of the problem. He had a reputation, and it wasn’t as great as Thor wanted it to be. He wanted to be known for more than just busting heads. He wasn’t just a bruiser, no matter what others thought. He had feelings. He felt things. Deep things. Sometimes.
Today though, what he was feeling was impatience, along with a great deal of anticipation. Because he knew exactly who he wanted to take with him. Maybe he should be going to his father, but Odin always seemed to suck up all the good press, and Thor wanted that for himself this time. Not that his best friend didn’t know how to steal the spotlight too, but Loki would share. Or Thor would put him in a headlock and make him share. He couldn’t exactly do that to Odin. Even when it was tempting to. Actually, especially when it was tempting to.
The very second the sun crested the eastern edge of the world and a thin sliver of golden orange light painted the clouds, Thor was striding quickly towards his friend’s home. As it was already dawn, and therefore day, he had no hesitation in pounding heavily on Loki’s door. And then simply walking inside as though he’d already been invited. Because why wouldn’t he be? “You still in bed? Get up! Let’s go! We’ve got a rescue mission to plan!”
