Interruptions and Distractions - Classical Age of Greece [tag: Makaria]
There was always something bittersweet about seeing Hades. It wasn't for a dislike of his brother. On the contrary, Zeus was very fond his family. Sure, he was rather smug that between himself, Hades and Poseidon, he got the best lot of rule, but that wasn't out of malice. It was out of general sibling rivalry. At least that was how he saw it. No, if Zeus wanted to be malicious... well... Hades would know it. In the meanwhile, the youngest of Cronos' children tried not to rub it in too much when he made the rare excursion to the Underworld.
Well, maybe just a little. After all, it was the Underworld. A place that was filled with disgusting creatures, dark deities that didn't always do the most sensible of things and the dead. So, just because he could, he did make sure to wear his brightest, most well kept garments and adorned himself with riches.
Perhaps that was why Hades always seemed to be the slightly bit irritated when Zeus went for a visit. Or maybe it was because Zeus only made a point of stepping into the Underworld when there was no other option and business dictated it. Or that when Zeus was there, he had a way of telling Hades how to run things, but following up with a statement that his brother could do as he pleased -it was his realm.
Even so, he did remember fondly himself, Hades and Poseidon collaborating with their sisters during the Titanomachy. And he meant well, wasn't that what was important?
On his way out of the palace of his brother in order to return to Olympus, Zeus paused. Something caught his eye. Well, someone. A someone moving through the hall. A female someone. A female someone that was not Persephone or any Underworlder he knew. Curious, he walked toward her, put on his most charming smile and interrupted her from wherever she was going with a clearing of the throat.
