Author: [info]pir8fancier
Prompt: Strength
Wordcount: 32,239

Author's Note A number of people helped me with this story. After the reveal, I will give them their due. I am one of those people who really relies on their betas. As I've said before, they make it much better. I would like to dedicate this story to [info]sistermagpie, who shares my love for Draco Malfoy in all his glorious perfect imperfections.

This is the single most brilliant fic I've read in the entire fest. I can't say that I completely enjoyed it, because it was quite painful in places, but you surprised me, and you made it believable, and the ending was fantastic.

Amazing story! A few hours well spent on reading. Quite gritty and I was tickled by Astoria's evil-mastermindness. I'm surprised that you had it fit so well into canon, though. It's like a prologue to the epilogue, almost.

At 2:30 in the morning I'm probably not my most articulate, but I had to write as soon as I finished. Such a perfect combination of Draco in dire straights, Harry in different dire straights and no mothering Hermione, uber-bitch Ginny or homophobic Ron to ruin it!

Draco's voice was strong and sure throughout, he won my compassion but never my pity. Harry, I pitied, and that was ok. I was captivated and unable to stop reading and go to bed as a good girl really aught. But what a great reason to be cranky tomorrow!

Thank you.

This really is quite extraordinary - and quite wonderful. Draco's voice is brilliant - so well done! Harry is moving - caught in that hero/martyr trap.

The arthritis, the way that Draco's life has been turned to shit, and how Harry has been giving his life away because he doesn't know how to stop doing it. And the ways that each helps the other heal are lovely.

There's this part of me though that hopes that after they each have their children, they'll find their way back to each other. Because ... well for so many reasons I can't quite articulate them all.

This story was incredible! I found Harry's dawning disenchantment about the post-war world completely believable. And Draco's story was just heartbreaking. I'm a completely sucker for h/c stories and this one is perfect!

whoa... that was really good. such explorations of sadness, of justice to the complete detriment of mercy, of how war destroys everything for so many years after the battles end. i loved it. thank you.

Oh, I think you just broke me! This was such a compelling, true story - Draco's voice was absolutely perfect in every respect - both canon and fanon wound together to make one amazing whole.

This story is sharp, tight, painful, and somehow still a genuine romance - but oh how bitter sweet the ending. Harry and Draco redeem each other - in every way possible, although I think that somehow Draco comes out of it all in a better place. This has overtones of the endless small unhappiness that I would foresee for poor Harry with Ginny as wife and mother.

The writing was clever and incredibly precise, the pacing impeccable, and the tone faultless. Every raw wound, every progressive scabbing over of the past and its terrors, each tiny touch that reintroduces them to themselves and to opening up to life - just excellent.

I think I cried a little. My favorite moment though was Harry's rage of jealousy at Smith. That was priceless ^^

Wow. How unbelievably believable. ^_^ All of these outcomes could very well have happened, as sad and miserable as they are in places. I love this so very, very much. It hurts so good. Ah, wonderful.

Now, I just choose to believe that Ginny dies tragically or they divorce or something and Harry and Draco reunite. *g*

This was definitely fanon, but not filled with cliches and roses. The ending almost brought me to tears, and Draco's voice had a gritty humor that I enjoyed. Thank you for your story. :D

So, so good :). I'm particularly pleased that it ended up sorta epilogue-compliant, and I enjoyed this story immensely. I did like the H/C, and yeah, I'm a sucker (no-pun-intended) for Draco so down on his luck that he has to trade sex for favours. Loved this :).

Wow, I don't know what to say. I thought Draco's injuries were handled deftly and the entire plot line was very tight. You were able to keep it canon up to DH without making it unbelievable or messy, or abandoning fanon. Your first person POV was awesome. The ending left me with questions, however. Are children really that important to Harry? What did the parchment say?

I don't really comment much, but I had to tell you how much enormous love I have for this story. This is how I see Draco (after he's learned how to not say out loud every piece of abuse that springs into his mind when he's cross).

I loved how character driven it was. The decisions and choices they made were made because they were them. Other people would have done things differently. Draco would rather continue to suffer than accept Harry's help, but Harry digs his heels in, and that's that. I also love Draco's relationship with Pansy. It's both amusing and heartbreaking at the same time. The imagery throughout is just lovely.

It's wonderful to read such a totally engaging story that that can be horrific and heart-rending, and still have you grinning most of the way through.

So, errr, basically - love love love. :o)
