Who: Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger
When: Christmas Eve
Where: Granger Household
Summary: Ron surprises Hermione on Christmas Eve.
Rating: Medium (who knows how Hermione will react!)
Ron had made a very important decision when he woke up that morning (yes he actually woke up and it was still morning). He knew he would be spending Christmas Day with Harry, since Ginny had gotten huffy and decided to head home. It was probably a good thing considering she and Harry couldn't be in the same room with each other without large quantities of awkwardness swirling around them. It wouldn't be too horrible though since they were going to sneak George in for the Christmas feast at Hogwarts. Tonight, on Christmas Eve though, he was going to pay a special visit to a very special person.
It had taken the better part of the day and some not-so-stealthy digging through his dormmates clothes to find the right, Muggle-esque outfit to wear. Using the excuse that he was going to help out George at the shop, which was understandably busy for the holiday season, Ron made his way to Hogsmeade, wrapped in his cloak still to block out the biting wintry air. And when the Floo system left him in Diagon Alley, Ron made his way to Gringotts first to exchange his money for Muggle money, and in no time at all, he was strolling through the heart of Muggle London.
As it turned out, Ron was able to handle himself rather well with Muggles after he'd unbuckled his cloak and hidden his wand in his pocket. He'd managed to pick up the Grangers' fruit basket and his Christmas gift for Hermione without being swindled. And now it was just about time to be heading to his final destination. Slipping into an empty alleyway, Ron disapparated and appeared behind a building about a block away from Hermione's house. With a cautious look around, he walked out of the alley and headed straight for Hermione's.
Perhaps his invitation to Christmas Eve with the Grangers had expired. Perhaps Hermione would take one look at him and send him back off to Hogwarts. Or perhaps it wouldn't be half as horrible as Ron was imagining. "Please don't have any spiders," Ron muttered under his breath as he walked up and rang the doorbell. "Please don't have any spiders. Please don't have any spiders..."
