Hermione was well aware that as her uncle backed up he would be informing the entire family that he'd asked for her by name and that her mother and cousin Christina would have abandoned their kitchen duties in favor of greeting Ron.
"Yes, surprise in deed," she wrapped her arms around him and gave him a heartfelt hug. "Since you'd said you weren't coming I didn't think it necessary to tell you Father invited the whole family this Christmas including his brother from America." She pulled back just in time to hear some poking from someone she'd not seen in years.
"Why if it isn't little 'Mione standing on the door step snogging some poor bloke senseless," she blushed a deep red as her great-cousin Kaylor made his way up the walk.
"I wasn't snogging him," she stammered as she pulled Ron to the side so he could pass. "It's not too late to change your mind," she whispered. Yes, she'd wanted him to meet her family but not all of them at once.
