The Grand Paradise Hotel

WHAT: Jack sees Wes again and blames him for his death
WHEN: Day 3
WHERE: The halls heading towards the lobby
WARNINGS: Language, angst, anger

( his first instinct was relief, happiness at seeing a familiar face, but then something inside of him hardened. )

On April 9th, 2019, very early in the morning, WES ATWOOD stumbled his way to SERENITY BAY where he curled up in the sand and fell asleep, unknowingly blanketed by BROOKE KINGMAN-CLERMONT.

VOLUNTEER ONE notices his shirt and shoes further up along the beach and decides to take those things back to him. They leave him undisturbed because he doesn't seem like he's in any particular danger.

VOLUNTEER TWO is just there to see the otters. A half-naked man to take a selfie with is just a humorous bonus. VOLUNTEER THREE is frustrated that some drunk person is sleeping on the beach and LOUDLY comments that they will be alerting security. VOLUNTEER FOUR is tasked with heading back to the hotel to let someone know.

SYDNEY CUBB is familiar with Wes and wakes him up before security gets there so that he can avoid trouble.


Anyone can take a volunteer spot, but you're not limited to them in how you react.

WHO: Sydney Cubb and Wesley Atwood.
WHEN: Late night on April 8th, 2019 into early morning April 9th, 2019.
WHERE: This is a dream that moves from IUP to Boston to Connecticut.
SUMMARY: Wes is dreaming about what he wishes would happen.
WARNINGS: Depression, talk of loss, feels.

( You haven’t even started facing your loss, Wes. You pressed pause when they died, and there’s no future in that. )

WHO: Wesley Atwood, unknowingly accompanied by Jude Maraschino.
WHEN: Late night on April 8th, 2019 into early morning April 9th, 2019.
WHERE: Hotel property and then onto Serenity Bay.
SUMMARY: Wes talks to plants until he gets to the beach and talks to Jude. Jude tries to interact with Wes and can't, but listens to everything he says.
WARNINGS: Depression, talk of loss, alcohol use, feels.

( It’s been three years and I thought that over time, things would get easier. )

WHO: Russ Burns and Wesley Atwood.
WHEN: Late night on April 8th, 2019.
WHERE: Hotel lobby and the front desk.
SUMMARY: Wes talks to a plant before catching up with Russ at the front desk.
WARNINGS: Depression, talk of loss, drinking, and Wes being dramatic.

( I’d like to apply for a job. Part-time. Temporary. Replace all the lightbulbs. Clean floors. Whatever you need. )

WHO: Temperance Llancaster and Wesley Atwood.
WHEN: Monday, April 8, 2019 around 6:00 PM? I think??
WHERE: On the island and then Castaway Bar.
SUMMARY: Temperance and Wes meet up at the bar to talk about things and end up talking about feelings, which neither of them are prepared for.
WARNINGS: Depression, talk of loss, language, drinking, and Wes being dramatic.

( 'I’m fine,' he said, though the words weren’t for her. 'I’m just fine.' )

WHO: Leilani Blake and Wesley Atwood.
WHEN: Monday, April 8, 2019 around 9:00 AM
WHERE: Grand Dining Room
SUMMARY: Leila and Wes meet up for breakfast where she tries to talk to him about the possibility of seeing Sydney and they end up having a moment regarding Jude and Jeremiah.
WARNINGS: Depression and introspective talk of loss.

( Leila wanted to believe that Jude hadn't stayed mad at her. She wanted to believe that he'd forgiven her. That as much fun as he might have been having, that there was a part of him that was eager to fly back home so he could tell her all about it. )

WHERE: Syd's room in the Rho Iota Pi house.
SUMMARY: Wes tells Sydney about his Abuelita and that he can't go on the trip.
WARNINGS: PDA. Talk of hospice care/death of a grandparent.

( Jeremiah Blake is a teddy bear. He won’t lead to my downfall. I’d just have the other Rhos bring him cookie baskets to keep him plump and content. )

WHO: Temperance Llancaster and Wes Atwood
WHEN: Day one; afternoon.
WHERE: Castaway Bar.
SUMMARY: Temperance is avoiding people with feels. Wes is avoiding people in general. It's fate that they'd meet.
WARNINGS: Light language. Mention of The Boatman. Temperance is reasonably nice to someone. Feels.

WHEN: Late March; roughly a week before the trip, 2016.
WHERE: Tres Amigos; Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
SUMMARY: Wes explains why he can't go on the trip, the bros have bro time.
WARNINGS: Mention of dying/hospice care for a grandparent. Feels.
( If I stop moving, everything catches up. The work, being tired, worrying about home. If I’m always in motion, nothing changes. But the moment I pause to catch my breath, it’s too much. )

WHO: Wesley Atwood and Leilani Blake
WHEN: April 7, 2019, before 6:00 AM
WHERE: Logan International Airport (Boston, MA)
SUMMARY: Wes and Leila reunite for the trip
WARNINGS: None, other than general sadness and talk of banana hammocks.

( Losing Jude and Jeremiah had been catastrophic. Grieving with the one person that had lost them both, too, was impossibly hard. )
