Not particularly. We Americans don't really think of pure blood in the same way that Europeans do. It isn't a centuries-old thing, or rather, it can be, but two hundred years is much shorter than most European lines can boast, and the national character likes to believe itself a lot more egalitarian, at any rate. I've never found it to make my life easier except potentially for my acceptance here, although I prefer to believe I made it in on my own merits. Perhaps that's a fantasy. I don't know. But in all honesty few people have seemed to care about my bloodline other than my dad, who thinks it means a lot of things about duty and setting an example.

	That's hard for me to wrap my head around. Blood status is so important back home. Even though my parents always say it doesn't matter that we're not quite pure, it very obviously does matter to a few of my relatives. They were mortified my mum ended up having all these boys, because now they'll never get rid of the name "Evercreech". (Reply to this) (Parent)
