Ava Rosier is not what she seems. ([info]pretensity) wrote in [info]goblet_ooc,

It's true! I have a third character! Her name is Ava Rosier and she's a Gryffindor 7th year. Things you should know about her include...

• Yes, her father was Evan Rosier the Death Eater who was killed by none other than our DADA professor. Her father was killed when she was almost four and her mother died when she was born. She was raised by her paternal grandparents.

• She's actually a halfblood, but you think she's a pureblood. Her mother, Lucia, was a Muggleborn witch from Puerto Rico who Evan met on a year of traveling after finishing school. After angering an old woman in Lucia's village, Evan was placed under a love spell to teach him the error of his ways and bigotry. He got Lucia pregnant, married her, and brought her back to England. His parents arranged for her to have a false identity as a pureblood. And then they arranged for her to take a little fall down the stairs.

• Ava loved her father and he loved her even though he went back to his Death Eating, blood purist ways after her mother died and the spell was broken. She is very freaked out by Moody's presence (and the way he keeps staring at her), but trying to ignore it.

• She's a very conflicted girl because she's been raised to think that pure blood is the only acceptable kind of blood and that her blood is lacking. Having internalized this, she is not outwardly purist but suffers from a lot of self-loathing and insecurity. As such, she is rather quiet and introspective, but if you manage to get past her walls she is funny, and dry, and very kind.

• She is expected to keep her true bloodline a secret and marry pure, otherwise her grandparents (who make no secret of hating her), will toss her out on the streets. They've been trying to set her up with men old enough to be her grandfather.

• Her best friend is Ruby Robins! If you're mean to Ruby, Ava probably doesn't like you.

• She has a crush on Jules. Yes, Jules.
Anyway, her backstory and personality are REALLY hard to summarize since the whole thing is kind of complicated and dark and crazy, so if you're interested please read her app! Housemates? Other friends? People who hate her based on her name alone? Purebloods who grew up with her? People her grandparents might try to marry her off to? HIT ME WITH YER PLOTZ.

Edit: OH! And today, October 9th, is her birthday!!

It's nearly 9.30am now, so I think I can safely write again. :P

Anyway, Cormac and Ava were raised in the same circles, and even though the McLaggens' purism has never reached the wish to get involved with the Death Eaters I can easily see Cormac (and maybe Declan too) get added to her grandparents' list of potential future husbands for her. Even though she's likely to see them both as babies (and Cormac's not interested in arranged marriages, thanks), I'm sure it makes a nice change from the dirty old men.

Like Barney, I think Samir might be a little too expansive for Ava's liking. Plus the whole muggleborn thing is likely to put her off.

Ditto on Hamish, whose mother might come from an illustrious pure (and purist) family but has "tainted" the bloodline when she got involved with a muggle. He'll be nice, though, and unless Cass and/or Evie tell him about her DE dad, he'll be completely oblivious about it.

Ahaha. Cormac, bb, I love you, but Ava doesn't want to marry you either. Not even a little bit. There is serious potential for hilarity there.

As for Hamish and Samir, Ava really won't be put off by their blood status. Her bloodist tendencies are all turned inward. She doesn't feel right about judging or mistreating anyone else for not being a pureblood because she's not a pureblood either. She's insecure and self-loathing and confused, but she's not a hypocrite. Her best friend is a halfblood, after all.

You're probably right, though, about Samir freaking her out slightly do to his Big Personality, however, I think she would quite like Hamish! Especially if she ever found out about his shitty grandparents, haha.

Heh, definitely. Cormac would initially show relief because he doesn't want an arranged marriage, no matter how hot the girl, but then he'd do a doubletake and go "...wait, why not? What's wrong with me?" XD

I didn't mean putting her off in a bloodist way, but in a way that would trigger her self-loathing and insecurities, if that makes sense? But yeah, she and the twins could probably bond over having shitty purist grandparents if they knew each other's histories.

You're a bit young for her, Cormac. And a bit brash for her tastes. And she's too hot for you.

(Why, yes, I do like to wind him up, why do you ask?)

That's fair. I think by seven years in she's sort of over the being triggered just by the presence of halfbloods and muggleborns stage though. She'd have gone made by now if she wasn't!

I mean, Cormac, she's like a supernova. It's okay that you can't handle it.

Cormac, in the immortal words of Destiny's Child, I don't think you're ready for this jelly.

Says you.

(The funny thing is, Cormac is not really that interested, it's just Amelia's OOC needling that's making him say these things. XD)

Prove me wrong.

(Ahaha, and it is SO OOC. Can you imagine Amelia saying someone was supernova levels of hot? Or quoting Destiny's Child?)

Gladly.

(Yeah, those are very OOC things for her to do.)

Ava is just like, "...Er." And being thankful this happened in the OOC so Cormac doesn't feel like he has to pursue her to prove something :P
