Calvin & Katie
There really wasn't any excuse for it, but that didn't stop Calvin from standing across the street from Frou Frou, where Katie worked, fuming because he couldn't see through the walls to what was inside. Even a vision would be better than the sheer irrational certainty that something was going on in there. He had a feeling about it. He wasn't supposed to have feelings, but he couldn't get it to go away, and why should he even try? It might be real. Anything could be real.
He started abruptly across the street, dodging a car that he hadn't bothered to check for before crossing the street. It honked and swerved and missed him, and his heart started beating faster as he increased his pace, but he didn't glance at the car. It didn't seem as important as finding out what was going on inside the clothing store.
"Someday," he muttered to himself, and pushed open the door with more force than necessary, plastering a vague smile across his face and slowing down though he could still feel his heart beating faster than normal. He looked around, but didn't immediately see anything happening. He didn't see anyone, in fact. The place looked completely deserted. Then he spotted Katie at the back of the store. He couldn't tell what she was doing, so he drifted toward a display that happened to be in that direction, pretending that he was interested in it.
