Katie swallowed thickly when he grabbed her hand, watching everything that he was doing. She didn't want to miss a thing, as strange as that sounded. And then he froze, and for a moment, she thought he was Seeing something. Her lips parted to say something, anything, to jar him from it, and then he was talking and she knew he was fine.
She was another story though. Her heart was racing. Such a simple gesture, and you'd have thought she just ran a race. Her breath caught in her throat and she nodded, retracting her hand from his grasp to grab a box from the shelf. "I'll ring you up," she managed to get out, taking a step away from him, towards the counter.
