WHO: Carter, Grace, Danielle, Makayla, and Travis
WHAT: Coming to Carter's aid
WHERE: Carter's house
WHEN: Minutes after this and this
RATING: Low
STATUS: In progress
Those moments where Grace was sitting in the car on the way to Carter's with her mom were some of the toughest she ever had to face her entire life. Her eyes were watering up with tears but was more stoic than she had ever been. She was grinding her teeth together so hard it almost hurt. So much was running through her mind and so much emotion was building inside of her at that moment but she couldn't allow herself to cry. If she did, she would burst into tears. She couldn't do that because Carter needed her to be there and be strong. Carter's grandma was almost like her own grandma after having known her for so long and it was extremely hard for her. She kept trying to breath but then she would clench her teeth again so she didn't begin to bawl before they even made it to Carter's front door. Couldn't they get there any faster? Her hands were beginning to shake and was becoming restless as she looked out the window, recognizing the all too familiar houses that were before Carter's. She wouldn't speak for fear of crying and that she was completely focused on getting there.
Numerous questions were running through her mind. Was Carter's grandma going to be ok? Was Carter? If she didn't, what was going to happen to her best friend? Would he go away? Could he live with them, like Jacen? Why did this have to happen? Was this the last time she would ever see Carter again? If there was anything she was certain of at that moment, she would make sure that that would never happen to the two of them. He would always be around and they would be there for each other always.
As they turned the corner onto Carter's street, Grace was almost becoming hysterical. It seemed the closer they got the less in control she felt. She had to stay in control of her emotions, for him. She couldn't and she wouldn't let her friend down. Grace may have done so before, or rather she felt that way, but she wasn't going to this time; it was not going to happen. When the car was in front of the house, she opened the door and jumped out before her mom had completely stopped. She lost her balance but regained it quickly, then took off for Carter's front door. She started knocking loudly and yelling once she got there, "Carter! CARTER! IT'S GRACE!"
